Arma 3 Catch All

Pretty sure we've had more than 4 do those missions, but i could be remembering it wrong.

Is there a game tomorrow night?

I started tooling around in Zeus/Ares last night, and I have GOT to figure out a way to get in on one of these games. It's like being a DM! Except without dice and WAY MORE DEATH.

I can't make it tonight. But I suggest heading to GWJ Discord and tracking down folks who posted in the thread.

You're bound to get an ad-hoc GWJer game going.

Updated the ARMA server with the latest CBA v3.2.1.170227.
Also, started working on a Tanoa base similar to what we have on Altis, which would allow us to run our own custom MP scenarios on that island. Have to get used to working with the Eden editor and remember all the tweaks I did on the other bases, but will let you know once that's available.

Sweet, Masher! Thanks for that.

I like the Battle Royale concept, but I hate how arcade-shooting-gallery the gunplay in H1Z1 is, and Battlegrounds looks way too close to H1Z1's and not nearly enough ARMA. Or if ARMA is too demanding, it would be nice if it was at least closer to Insurgency.

The gunplay for BG is equal to or surpasses Insurgency and it's nowhere near the arcade mode that's in H1Z1.

If i had to compare it to anything it's closer to DayZ which is of course ARMA lite. Still definitely not near the H1Z1 end of the spectrum.

Alright, maybe I will give it a try.

The 1.68 update is out which adds, among other things, 64-bit support. 9.7 GB update. Patch notes.

2017 Road Map

I'm not interested in the Tanks or Jets DLC, but the new island, Project Orange, and the Tac-Ops DLC all sound interesting.

Not sure if any of you play much SP, but I've created a no-frills SP Battle Royale mission for Arma 3. I can post it if anyone is interested.

Features:
- You vs 64 AI (the AI all fight each other, as well, including those on the same side, so it feels like every man for himself).
- You start with a pistol; the AI start with whatever gear their class usually has.
- Loot spawns randomly in buildings.
- Vehicles spawn randomly in the first zone.

I'm playing with the ASR AI mod; not sure how it is with default AI.

1. I'd like to play this!!

2. Could you adapt it to include 4-8 players along with the AI? Might make for some good group fun. Every man for themself but with the AI too.. ?

Here's the file (Dropbox). You can put it in your Documents/Arma 3/Missions folder and play it in the editor. It requires the Bozcaada map.

I upped the number of AI to 99. I think the loot will require you to have the Marksman DLC and Apex, but there are no other add-on dependencies.

I think this could be modified to add more players, but I'm right in the middle of finals. If I were younger, this wouldn't be an issue (who needs sleep?), but as a 40 yr old in my last year of school, I just can't do it. However, it might just work out of the box if you add playable characters in the editor. Not sure if the third-party scripts I've used are MP compatible or not.

Cool sir. Thanks.

I'll give it a shot this weekend and let you know how it works.

If it looks good after a few people have tried it out, you should post it to Steam Workshop.

Apparently the BLUFOR "Competitor" class guy I put down doesn't have any weapons. I discovered this when he came in second in the last round I played. Almost felt bad shooting him as he ran away.

I've also been playing with vanilla AI lately. Really improves my FPS, but the AI are way more accurate. YMMV depending on what AI settings you use.

AUUUUUUGH. The "tactical realism" public server I'd been tooling around with updated the mods running on their server and now I have no idea what's compatible anymore. I'm going to have to take my chances on a regular public server, which is... not ideal, for obvious reasons.

I wish that my schedule wasn't so diametrically opposed to finding a regular group to play with.

Been out of Arma for a significant amount of time. I see Apex is on sale at BIS.. any reason I should get this for SP?

I mean, the campaign is.... iffy, in places (I have gotten as far as the "sneak through an entire town of enemy soldiers unarmed" mission), but the MP is totally worth the price of admission, for my money.

To celebrate four years of ArmA III (what, already?), Bohemia commissioned an orchestra to record some of their favourite ArmA musical pieces.

Arise!!

I just got this in the Humble bundle. I'm working through the Tutorial then I plan on playing the single player. After that...who knows! Are y'all still playing?

My son has gone deep on ARMA. He’s got into Warlord (I think) - but he’s modding it, to change the faction equipment (I think). (It’s like pulling teeth to get him to talk about it, at all)

I haven’t played any ARMA in forever -when I did it was mostly King of the Hill, or Wasteland game-modes.

I am looking to get into some Squad, though. I always liked the idea of the smaller scale of Squad.

I was recently watching a group of streamers work through a coop game of Antistasi. Looked like something that would be fun to do if it was possible to get a group together consistently. Work as rebels, with two super power forces you're sandwiched between, trying to retake control.

Otherwise, yeah, King of the Hill, Wasteland, etc.

Squad I keep bouncing off of due to the known formulas for each map...and not knowing them. Generally I run into the situation where no one wants to lead a squad, then everyone gets mad when squads don't do the expected things each map requires. I like the game-play of Squad, just frustrating to get going. I had the same complaints for the Battlefield 2 mod, Project Reality, which Squad inherits from, I believe. Again, playing with a dedicated group would improve things, I'm sure.

Squad has been very hit or miss for me. If I end up in a great squad with a good leader and the squad following orders, it's been a lot of fun. I've had some really cool games.

On the other hand, the other 80% of my games have been in sh*tty squads where everyone is running around doing their own thing. That's a horrible experience.

I've been getting into ArmA and the unbelievable mod scene. I'm particularly interested in some of the mods that basically let you make auto generated missions. I watched a tutorial on ALiVE this morning and it looks amazing. I'd be up for trying some co-op or PvP if anyone is interested. I have a lot to learn still, but I'm having fun with it so far.

I'm a huge fan of Squad, but yea it requires a dedicated team or getting lucky who you end up with.

I've been eyeing a couple public servers that has an Antistasi campaign going. Have to reinstall everything and it may take a bit to figure out my keybinds before I jump in.

Well dammit. I'm still sick of arma, but I miss playing with you guys, so I'm in if we're playing again.
