Ion Maiden Published By 3D Realms

So apparently there is a new build engine game published by 3D Realms in 2018.

Looks exciting

You guys. You guys. This is so good. OMG. So good. OMG. So fast, fun and violent. OMG.

That looks amazing.

Whaaaaaaaat :O

In. SO IN.

*make sure to clear some hard drive space - the demo/preview 'campaign' is a whopping 37Mb.

Also no hitscan weapons on the baddies. That's pretty cool.
Also, Also, no crude sexist "Duke Style" humour I've seen in the demo so far. Also cool.

It is really good. The game looks really crisp for an old build engine. They must have tweaked it a bit to make it this way. I love the “Loverboy” revolver in all its glory.

Looks interesting.

Though I don't think I'll ever be able to look at that title without thinking of the band first.

It's running on a modified version of EDuke32 which is a source port of the original engine.

I got to the end of the trailer before I realized there was no R in the first word.

I'm about 90 minutes in, and the pre-campaign is so great. Amazing map design, tons of enemies to kill, fun weapons. Just so great.

Just when I thought I’d get more work done this weekend. I must give this a spin tonight.

And now I remembered there are Steam versions of Blood and classic Shadow Warrior available with the latter being free to play. But first: Ion Maiden!

Build engine renaissance!

So this is an extension of their Bomshell IP. Interesting

I added a barebones Steam Controller config on Steam. It works pretty good.

Yeah, apparently it's a prequel, which really makes me wanna play Bombshell now.

My god, right? I'm not done the pre-campaign yet, but out of all the weapons, I find I keep returning to the Loverboy the most.

1.0 release date (8/15) and name change.

Heads-up, price is going up from $20 to $25 in about 5 days (7/18) so if you're thinking early adoption, might want to hop on sooner than later.

Big bummer about the name change. Nothing more metal than threatening lawsuits.

I’m not sure I want it if it’s not called Ion maiden.

I mean, sure, you can put a Lamborghini engine into an Alfa Romeo, but you’re still driving an Alfa Romeo.

It's the same awesome game you guys.

I know. I’m really just bitter that I didn’t get it during the sale last week.

As you should be, especially since the price is going up in a week.

Over a year later, I still keep seeing this thread as IRon Maiden. And there is an Iron Maiden video game I think.

There is indeed.

After first being frustratingly distracted by the OG title Ion Maiden, seeing Iron Maiden* every time I saw the game mentioned online, I've oddly made 'piece' with it.

I've had a complete turnaround and fully embrace the title. From now on it will forever be Iron Maiden Fury canonically. :p

* My very first live show was Maiden's 'World Piece' tour '83.

I had forgotten that this game features the same protagonist as Bombshell, which is an excellent game.

Sale or not, I picked up a copy. Always happy to spend more time with Duchess Nukem

WELP.

Time to see if I can get a refund after all this time.

(tldr) The Ion Fury devs are unrepentently full on transphobic ( really, REALLY transphobic), "SJW" hating chucklef*cks who follow right wing individuals (such as our old pal Brad Wardell) on their official twitter feed.

Well. f*ck them.

couldn't get a refund. just nuked it from my account instead.

Having a homophobic slur in the game as some kind of secret side joke is unforgivable.

it boggles the mind that they even thought they would get away with that without some sort of backlash.

Some good news out of the mess, in case you haven't seen.

They walked back, which sucks, but are still donating the money to the Trevor Project, which is cool.

What a sh*tshow.
