Oblivion Mods

I think mods have just gotten so much easier that going back is a shock.
In the installer tab you pretty much have to order the mods the way you will install them, since the higher install number will override other mods - instead of just asking like most other mod software. If I recall correctly, lower order mods might even not install files that it knows other mods will install later - confusing.
And then there are mods that simply dont work if installed through Wrye Bash, just to make everything annoyingly complex (and vice versa if using another mod software).
After everything is installed you can create a Wrye Bash merged/bashed file, that does... who knows, some sort of magic, which tries to fix mod interaction issues.

I really should get back to my abandoned expansion playthrough. If nothing else so I can delete this Modding Hell from my pc. Got about 5 copies of the game installed at various steps in the modding, so I had something to fall back to when everything exploded

Okay, so it took two hours, but I'll be ready to stream some Oblivion tomorrow.
Except I don't remember how to drop stuff from my inventory. (edit: it's shift and click)

Soooooo, it's mostly stable. I've got the unofficial patches, OBSE of course, the Character Overhaul (with Blockhead, as required), the DarNified UI, Harvest Flora, Mountain Tower, Noticeable Skill Books, Qarl's texture pack and distant land.
Except I'm not getting any distant land. I've tried tweaking the ini file too, but to no avail. Any ideas?

What mod is distant land?

It’s optimized distant land max to be specific. I’ve set my ini file according to this mod list.
To no avail, it’s like I’m in a constant fog.
At this point, I’m considering scrapping the whole thing and starting from scratch.

Does it work if you dont use the distant land mod?

Oh the game word either way, whether I’ve activated it in OMOD or not, whether I’ve dumped the edges in the data folder or not. I’m just not getting any view distance at al. =/ Even before the distant land mod.

Edit: So I did some more tinkering over breakfast this morning. Turns out I was editing the default ini file in the steamapps/common/oblivion folder and not the oblivion ini file in the folder in My Documents. Except I figured that out as I was wipping the whole damn thing to start anew. Moral of this story: hang up the keyboard after midnight!

I'll be going off a simplified version of the mod list I linked earlier and giving Wyre Bash another go. Will report back, but probably not before this weekend, since I'm going out of town for work tonight.

'The end is almost in sight' for Skyblivion, the long-time-coming Oblivion mod for Skyrim

It might not always feel like it, but the mission to bring Oblivion into The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is moving forward, slowly but surely. The modders behind the ambitious Skyblivion project released another teaser trailer today, and while we don't have a release date yet – and likely won't anytime soon – the creators feel like their tireless work is "finally shaping up to what we can call a proper video game."
"It's been a long ride but we are finally at a point where the end is almost in sight," according to TESRenewal project lead Rebelzize. "Our exterior world map is nearing its final stages of development meaning it's close to being completed."

That would totally suck me back in. Can’t wait!

I installed it again since it is on Game Pass and I really like the greener more alive land compared to Skyrim so if it does ever see the light of day I will check it out.
