Blizzard's Overwatch Catch-All

I got a few hours in on Sigma, and... I just don't know what this guy is meant to be doing. He feels like Orisa but squishier and with a bigger hitbox and less utility. I mean the barrier is neat and all, but his shift and E abilities are so situational.. He doesn't really feel like he's making space for his team, he feels like someone who schleps a barrier around and hopes his team can keep him alive until it's time to reposition it.

Am I nuts? He has this lethal range of 15-20 meters, within which he's a real threat. But any character who can get closer, or stay farther, just ignores him or eats him for lunch. So in team play he feels very useful in the starting poke war, where the teams are on opposite sides of a choke, but once things get chaotic he feels pretty superfluous.... and then e.g. a doomfist arrives and you might as well /emote.

I dunno. I was dying for a new tank and I normally love ricochet / physics mechanics. I hope I'm wrong on the guy.

Some recent Clips.

Ended up taking hanamura today with 2 sym teleport flanks. First time I've seen us be able to do it with both points A and B on the same map

We've done it a couple times on hanamura and also on volskaya

This felt dirty and I loved it

Ok, you inspired me to dig through my saved clips...

Zing.. I chuckled at this one. Nice

Unfortunately for blizzard, they'll sell out of the dps ones and no one will buy the tank ones. All of the people who buy the support ones will just slap a dps sticker on the front.

Nah, the will give you an extra prize for purchasing a support or tank shirt and promise a faster shipping time.

Comp on PTR feels good. I am tempted to actually play more than just my placements. Maybe.

Skraut and I played a few games of QP on live, then we were joined by Ranalin. The standard 3 DPS, refuse to swap, lose the match games. Swapped over to PTR QP and has some really good games. While I wish it were out now live, I think they are really taking their time to analyze the data. There are still a lot of people playing on the PTR in both QP and Comp, so they better be getting a lot of good data. They have already made some tweaks. With Sigma's cosmetics released, hopefully, it means they are close to going live.

From a while ago, but never published it. One of the primary reasons I love Hammond.

I made a short video. Thanks to Minotaar for the acting help!

Nice video!

Hello

Nice. That was quite enjoyable.

Enemy junkrat gets ult within 30 seconds of the match beginning.

He was the hard carry for them though as we started to focus him down,we were able to take both points after picking him off early. We faced them again on Lijiang and won that map also by the same strategy. He was definitely one of the most accurate junkrat players I've seen us come across, being able to do some crazy mental calculations to land his bombs.

The bug fix for Symetra has really up'd her deadliness, I'm melting people much faster now.

Same for Zarya.

I agree with this video that Rein/Zarya feels really good now. She pairs pretty well with Sigma with communication (people shoot to burn Sigma shield and a drop the shield to charge a bubbled Sigma/Zarya put shield back up). Really good video with a stupid click bait title. Orisa isn't close to dead and they don't say that. The take away is that Orisa is not an autopick on every map due to the changes. Totally agree with that.

Speaking as someone who until recently ran a company that made its bread and butter on YouTube videos, I don't begrudge Your Overwatch their clickbait titles. They're running a business, and the thing is, clickbait works.

Their content is usually good, that's the important thing, and they straight up say in the video, "Orisa / Hog isn't dead, it's just one option among several now."

One thing I'm struggling with, as someone who likes to try to flex around others' picks, is figuring out who synergizes best with Sigma. Lucio seems like a natural pick; even with the nerfs, there's still no substitute for speed boost when it comes to enabling a tank without intrinsic movement abilities to push efficiently.

Hog maybe, since he can work at a similar range to Sigma's with his right-click and hook. Also Hog is less helpless than most when Sigma's slightly-less-resilient barrier goes down.

Other than that?

HB, with you on the click bait stuff. I know some are very sensitive to it, hence my disclaimer. I would say from my experience and from watching some streams that Hog is the worst off tank to pair IMO, outside of Winston. Zarya is tops for me, followed by Orisa, DVa, and Rein. If coordinated, Large Russian Woman and Sigma make beautiful music (What is that music? Likely Rachmaninov).

A Few clips from the last week.

Crimeny couldn't believe I hit him. I was also quite surprised.

One of my best with Sigma

My angle of a great Grav by EriktheRed.

Overwatch League has announced their 2020 schedule which include home games.

Some of venues announced are San Jose CIvic Center (SF Shock), Hammerstein Ballroom (NYXL), Rogers Arena (Vancouver Titans), Parc de la Villette (Paris Eternal), Fusion Arena (Philadelphia Fusion), Full Sail Arena (Florida Mayhem), Allen Events Center (Dallas Fuel), Roy Thompson Hall (Toronto Defiant), DC Entertainment and Sports Arena (Washington Justice), and Wuzhen Theatre (Hangzhou Spark).

Each team will have at least 2 "homestand weekends" (a total of 4 games each minimum played at home) and some team have multiple venues. I'm most interested in seeing Fusion Arena since it's the only venue (so far) that is purpose built for Overwatch League

Pre-sale for a lot of teams start next week, I'm already putting my name down for games in Vancouver, but I'm planning to flying out east to catch a Toronto Defiant game. I have a bunch of banked up of vacation days next year so I'm also thinking of using this an excuse to visit San Francisco and London for the first time and see a Shock/Spitfire game

I was mad and laughing all at the same time! Ana got scared to death apparently.

My recent captures. I should play with Chavyn more often, it seems.

One more from tonight:

More Sym teleport hilariousness getting us the first point in 50 seconds

Perfect for that bunker defense. I wonder if they even had a sight line on the tele underneath them. Should have been an instant drop/rotate. Very nicely done.

We had a great one on Nepal Village last night where the enemy was super interested in a Moira beam battle on the left side that it allowed free access via tele to the right opening behind them where we promptly team killed them and finished the map.
