Random thing you loathe right now.

I feel you man. Story of the last 5-10 years of my life.

Con crud. More specifically, Gen Con crud. And I was fastidious about washing my hands.

I traveled up there for my brother's wedding this weekend; venue was less than a block and a half away. Apparently, that stuff is really making the rounds up there right now and my step-mom, brother-in-law, and niece are all wiped out with it and my BIL's case is apparently going on 2-weeks now.

Oh great.

Scratch test. Blanks just mean unknown, they didn't test for it.

I'm so frustrated, the level of restriction here is so out of my budget beyond rice, some veggies, nuts, and meats. That's...pretty much it. I might try and see if I can get more extensive tests done that let me know what else on the list is a no instead of unknown, so I can regulate for that, too.

This basically means very few processed foods and sweets, carbs, most alcohols, too. Normally, I can probably tolerate a little bit of one of these things from time to time. There's so many overlapping possible allergy trigger combo's here it's no wonder my digestive tract has been a wasteland.

Some rice beers are pretty good! I happen to like Sapporo, and sometimes Tsing Tao.

But, ugh, that is an awful bummer. At least you know now.

That is a serious bummer, but like mix said, at least you know and can try to plan/work around your allergies instead of being miserable without knowing the cause

Sake is also an option if you want a little alcohol, although it does have a pretty unique taste it can still be a good base for a mixed drink.

On the plus side, it looks like you can eat all the Penicillium you want!

I had a similar thing as a kid where I was kinda allergic to everything, but it all stemmed from severe grass allergies. Cutting a lot of the things out of my diet like dairy and whatnot for a few months really helped and then I didn't have nearly so many issues going back to eating dairy. I don't really have any problems now other than some slight grass allergies. I don't know if it was the temporary diet or if I just grew out of it.

So sorry amoebic, that's a major bummer of a list, but good on you for facing up to it. I've been avoiding having that testing done for far too long, but in a weird way this is kind of motivating to go ahead and get it done just to know.

Makes me wonder if you have Celiac's or a thyroid issue. Not a doctor, but my wife went through a similar thing where a test claimed she was allergic to everything, even peanuts. But it's really just dairy and gluten. She eats peanut butter all the time and never had a problem.

Good luck.

Yeah, peanut butter is life! I love it so much.
Thanks all, it was late at night and the pity party urge was strong in me. Honestly, I should be eating healthier, anyway.

I, too, have severe grass allergies! They're saying the allergy injections will make food easier, too. So I just need to cut out, but slipping a little is probably fine after that treatment starts happening.

For the record, while I've never had food allergies, I had other types of allergies at severe levels (spending most summers with completely red noses), and then I got the allergy shots, and it did wonders.

We get stationed in Albuquerque when I in middle school, and something about the particular flora there REALLY got me compared to the east coast where I had lived before. I'd always had mild allergies and hay fever type stuff during oak season, but suddenly I was having severe breathing problems and constant sinus problems etc. Desensitization shots worked a near miracle on getting me to where I could be active at school, for extra curricular activities, and scouting. They certainly aren't for everyone, but they worked for me at the time.

The situation in Hong Kong is bumming me out. Also the current geo-political situation in general related to it, where human rights abuses are either widely condemned or widely ignored depending on how much money can be made with the abusing country.

When I was in the US at Jay Peak, I decided to try a bag of Pork Rinds. Saw them mentioned all the time on TV, and figured "how bad could they be? They might even taste good."

Oh how wrong I was.

They have the texture of dry styrofoam, and only a small aftertaste of bacon/pork.

Would not buy again.

LOL I love pork rinds...especially the BBQ flavor.

You must never have snapped into one?

Found some good Kimchi BBQ ones that I'm loving.

CVS robocalls. "Hello [mispronounced name of 8yo], would you like to save time by updating your prescriptions to a three month supply? Press 1 for yes and 2 for 'not this time'".

Well, I didn't the last few dozen times you called, including just an hour ago this Sunday morning, and I didn't every time I've picked up any prescriptions from you for the last three years, so maybe this time... also no?

Spam calls in general. I thought I was free of them when they stopped calling when I picked up again. Now I'm getting the new scam ones saying you social security is being frozen... Freaking scum praying on people.

I donated blood last year for the first time, and the American Red Cross dials my phone with a robocall twice a day like clockwork. Finally, I gave up, and blocked the goddamn American Red Cross, feeling like a monster, and they started calling from a different number.

Heartworms are awful.

We brought our new dog home from the shelter on the 10th, knowing that he’d tested positive and knowing what the treatment would involve. He got the first injection on Friday. Saturday, he was pretty listless. He started acting more like himself yesterday, but now he’s showing enough side effects that the vet said to bring him back in.

So I’m leaving work shortly to get the little guy looked at.

Toilet plungers sitting in a puddle of water.

My wife decided I *needed* to trim my daughter's hedgehog's nails.

"It's small, it'll be easy" she said.

Nope. Nope. Nope. Not doing that again. Going to bring it to the vet from now on.

In today's issue of "Men are hot garbage, especially in the gaming industry"

Nathalie Lawhead outlines her systematic abuse and rape at the hands of Jeremey "Elder Scrolls Composer" Soule...

...and because of that, Zoe Quinn outlines HER abuse at hands of Alec "Aquaria and Night in the Woods" Holowka.

About 10 years ago I was breaking out in hives from my neck to my ankles. I went and got my scratch test done and... I’m allergic to the outdoors. Pollen, dust, grass, etc. But wait, I’m also allergic to the indoors too. Mold, dust, mites and so on. And pets. Except for poodles.

I did the shots for 5 years straight and now I’m much better.

It took an act of congress to get CVS to stop robo-spamming me with phone calls and text messages.

This is infuriating.

I can't seem to go 6 months without some kind of medical problem. Today I found out I have a hernia, as well as either an abscess or an infection in the same general area. I had been putting off seeing the doctor for the 10 days since I noticed it because I thought it was just a weird spot for pain/psycho-somatic in nature. Spoilering the reason for going to the doctor (because it's a bit TMI medical wise)

Spoiler:

I woke up this morning to blood/puss coming from my belly button and have been nauseated and on the edge of a low grade fever all day. ~99.5

Luckily my doctor didn't pay too much attention to my thinking it was more in my head and has me seeing a general surgeon, and gave me antibiotics. Unfortunately I can't see the surgeon until the 16th. Hopefully nothing happens this weekend where I have to go to the ER, but I am so happy we can afford this doctor. He is very professional and knows what he is doing, even with the little bit of information we have. He can't actually see the problem site because of the angle, and we didn't do any imaging stuff because he wants to try and see if the antibiotics will do something first, he feels if we can get the infection/abscess dealt with, there won't be as big of a need of imaging if I understand what he said correctly. He just feels that any scans or anything wouldn't tell us what we don't already know. I can still walk around and do stuff, but he has me on a soft diet and hopefully things will go well this weekend.
Edited: said diagnostic when I meant to say imaging.
