WoW: Battle for Azeroth (8.3)

I would expect it to arrive before november though. October probably. If nothing else, it has to be released before the 15th anniversary thing begins.

Because you put it that way, October seems about right. Still, tho, that's a long time to wait for a not-much-of-a--patch patch

OTOH, that'll give me time to level a Horde toon through the 8.0 content. There are some mounts waiting at the end of that long road, too.

Is there still a community for wow/gwj? The code on the first page is expired. I just got back into WoW as a casual after about .... well a lot of time off. My max character was level 90, if that means anything.

Are they really making the bee mount alliance only? From what I have gathered that has been the most anticipated mount in all of BFA since it was first shown. I am sure that will go over well.

As primarily an alliance player: every cool mount ends up horde only and alliance gets re-skinned horses... i have less than zero sympathy for people complaining about the bee mount being alliance only.

On a related note, the fact that the game as a whole has an 80:20 H:A faction balance is something that need to address in the next expansion. On a horde alt i can run around in war mode solo and get my bonus xp while I do my stuff and engage in pvp if something happens... on my alliance main if i'm not specifically running around with a group on war mode i'm liable to get steamrolled by 10 horde in a pack at any second. Even out of war-mode it's noticeable in places like the area in Mecha where you collect springs and whatnot to recycle. There are times there are a dozen horde there tagging every mob as it spawns, with one or 2 alliance desperately trying to beat them to the punch occasionally. Faction tagging needs to go the way of ammunition stacks.

Two wrongs do not make a right. Alliance shouldn't have a voice anyway!

Faction tagging should surely go away.
Faction imbalance is difficult. Even if they achieve 50/50 balance overall, we will experience imbalances in actual gameplay. I'm on a server where alliance is simply gone, 99%+ horde, and according to raid progress trackers there is literally 0 alliance raid guilds on the server. It was kinda 'interesting' to play alliance alts before the war mode toggle arrived. I'm not sure how CRZ works these days, but at the same time as this extreme server imbalance, in pre-BFA the moment I went back to older zones with CRZ active it was heavily alliance dominated. Until BFA I pretty much couldn't go back and do older zones (Timeless isle etc.) without ending up with a 100 man alliance queue in front of my corpse. I'd imagine these local imbalances will always be there even if it improved overall. Even in the BFA zones, it seems like we have an alliance majority, although it seems to switch back and forth a lot, so one might actually call it balanced. At least now with war toggle it matters less.

Hopefully the rumors about post-BFA is right, and we get rid of the (faction) War part of Warcraft, and move beyond factions

Eveyone vs Undead! Right after I race change my main at least.

quote is not edit

I misread that the first time as "Everyone is Undead". And, y'know, if the whole Battle for Azeroth thing ends in Armageddon, that might be a workable solution

I don't think so. A few folks logged in right after the community thing went live. No one really seemed to use it. And I think the codes go dead after a while.

If you're interested in an invite from the official GWJ guild, we're on Blackhand-A. All are welcome, even filthy casuals. Hit me up for an invite; my in-game info is below. Please note that it's just me and my alts and a couple other folks these days. We had three whole people (!!!!) logged on the other night. I was expecting a patch bump but it either didn't happen or it faded fast.

Other folks in this thread can direct you to their guilds if you're interested and/or on another realm.

Will Wow Classic have dungeon finder?

If you mean talking in Barrens chat for a party to go into Wailing Caverns, yes!

It also has features that modern WoW doesn't have, such as built in Chuck Norris jokes.

Me: It's stupid I have to do this stupid grind just to be able to fly, like I could for years.

Also me: Classic will be so much better without all this pesky convenience.

That's the 15-year WoW experience in just two sentences.

To be fair, when that first started back in Barrens Chat, it was Vin Deisel. I actually miss that as VD is a much better human being overall than CN is.

A couple of 8.2.5 updates I've seen floating around.

First: the anniversary event (kill nine old-school raid bosses, get a mount) won't be live until Nov. 16. You'll have two weeks to get it done.

Second: The bee mount requires a rep grind after you get a small bee pet (which takes a week to get; the rep grind will take longer, I think). The best/worst part: the bee mount is Alliance only. SUCK IT HORDE.

Seriously, tho, that might be the sh!ttiest thing Blizzard has done, mountwise.

That seems like a losing offer, way too many horde have tusks and or pointy teeth.

Horde privilege: falls completely apart (and probably rolls off their mountain of cool exclusives) the one single time Alliance gets something exclusive that's not a reskinned horse.

Edit: on the plus side, the grind doesn't seem too onerous. There's no time gating or dailies involved, it is a pure grind of collecting spawning resources in the area. You gotta want it, but you can knock it out all in one go if you want.

I'd agree if it weren't for this making for up for a questline horde has had since launch in an expansion where our three rep mounts were recolored horses to a hyena mount, a blood tick mount, and, ok, yeah, another ptrerrordax... and when the Alliance and Horde both got flying mounts we got... more gryphons because "well, the Alliance just doesn't have all that interesting of fauna in their area". Yeah, just raging water elementals everywhere, gigantic pirate parrots, hydras and old god sh*t everywhere, but clearly the only thing a mount could be a is a horse or gryphon. *headdesk*

Blizzard has truly recreated the Classic experience. 10000 queues to create a character name.

At least you can listen to the sweet music while you wait for the login to kick you from the queue.

Nobody will ever say they didn't users to have the authentic experience.

what server are folks playing on for Classic?

I’m on Pagle with some friends.

I and a couple guys who listen to the podcast but don't post here are going to try out the Oceania PvP server.

That's WAY too much automation for wow classic. i think you need something like this:

Classic. I just dont get it. As one who started in vanilla, I would just as soon trade my car in for a model t. Or play pong.

I'm not entirely sold but my buddy dearly wants to do it so I'm giving it a shot.

My earnest hope is that after a month or two both the player base and Blizzard will start letting go of the whole "no changes no matter what" mindset. I'm in for the nostalgia kick and I liked a lot of things about the vanilla game, but the sooner Blizzard puts in multiple specs, and cuts out having to level up each weapon skill and so forth, the more likely I'll be to stick around.

I bet most people will abandon Classic fast though. I tried the beta for a short while, and was greatly annoyed even before hitting lvl 10. Still, hyped to play it again, no matter how long it lasts.

Some kind of progression is really what I would need to stay interested long-term. After 1 year or so, add Burning Crusade, then Wotlk etc. Start new vanilla servers to replace them.

Classic WoW server just doesn't do it for me at all. There were a lot of fun times in Open World PvP and things but not enough to grind through it all again and have a high % bail because of that grind and also the imbalance that will ensue. The Alterac Valley BG event for the 15 year anniversary has more nostalgia for me cause I know it would be short lived and once I've had my fill so would just about everyone else.

I think the most telling thing about WoW classic is the post with the long list of 'bugs' people keep submitting that are in fact simply "wow classic working as intended"

That stuff is so funny. I agree with you completely.

I have one on Pagle, Mankirk and Herod.
