The Elder Scrolls Online Catch-All

Just finished the Balmora quest sidequest in Morrowind. Wow, super long and really great. Lots of emotion and twist. Excellent!

Yeah, if that's the one I am thinking of, it's great. (And sad :()

None of Summerset's quests stuck with me like the Balmora quest in Morrowind, along with the slave quest with the Telvanni.

The game just stopped working for me after yesterday's patch. After I log in, it would load then a BSOD. This happened before as well, but I can't remember what I did to get past it.

I have done the repair many many times. I have reinstalled the entire client twice. Updated Windows 10. Nothing. Getting pretty frustrated. Anyone out there this happened to?

Any other games are fine.

I was playing last night on Xbox and had many odd issues. The patch doesn't even drop for consoles until tomorrow.

I know that ZOS had to shut down the EU server yesterday and I don't know if it's back up yet.

Also, just went to the support site, it's super slow as well and the forums are down.

Well I finally got it to work. I was about to give up honestly. I think changing the monitors refresh rate down from 120 might have done it. Honestly, I have no idea. And I'm sure this will happen again.

In theory there's nothing special game-side that should be particularly intolerant of refresh rates; for interest sakes, what graphic card and processor are you on, and is it a newly released driver?

The patch had very little in it code-wise, mostly being lua/UI side revisions; could be an issue with lua and addons (but that causing a blue screen would be a little strange). First thing I tend to do if I encounter issues is nuke all of lua's saved variables (My Documents or equivalent/Elder Scrolls Online/live/SavedVariables and deleting the contents of that folder).

And yes, apologies to folks for the EU hell; as a result of that and Cloudflare's wider scale issues, the website especially has been slow as the US has been serving things worldwide while the EU problems were corrected.

I'm not sure why it did that too Shyn. It has happen before as well.

What do you do at ZOS? I live very close by! Do you guys let fans get a tour of the studio?

Just a code monkey, although in the most out of context and horrid interview ever, also responsible for the game's lag :p

As far as studio tours go ... its not something we generally do, I've served at military installations less locked down, but I can always quiz the community folks about it. There's not a lot to see; lot of desks!

Haha so cool. Thank you for all you do for the game. I have seriously fallen for it this past 2 weeks.

I don't need to go in to the secret areas. I'd be happy to see the studio's dragon statue or get a poster.
I work in the medical field in York. So close!

Wow, small world indeed - Shiloh and end up visiting way too many Wellspan facilities :p
I'll touch base with Gina next week and see exactly what the rules are.

I decided to do the main quest from the beginning. Went back to Coldharbour. I’m honestly shocked how great this game still looks. I was impressed 5 years ago with launch but I sort of felt the same being in that area again.

Shyn did you guys update the engine?

Not really, we revise the shaders from time to time, there are more 4k textures around now since the XB1X/PS4 Pro support was included, but the basic renderer has remained pretty much the same - to limit support headaches we try to use as much of we can in terms of both art and tech across all platforms, which stops the graphics team especially from diving off in directions they would love to

So a buddy wants to jump into this game and I will be playing with him. He and I started the game together at release and he stopped around level 20 but I maxed Level 50 Templar. I remember initially it was really difficult to play together if people were different levels and at different points in a quest. Is this still the case? Should we just reroll and start fresh?

I did ESO+ when it came out and that got me through Imperial and Orsinium DLC but I haven't done any of the chapters that I can remember. What is the best way to go about getting the best content? It looks like ESO+ now includes more DLC's and also includes Morrowind. Is that the best option right now?

IMO, ESO+ is the best way to go. It includes Morrowind AND Summerset, as well as all of the other DLC areas. Further, you get the crafting bag, which provides unlimited storage for all of your crafting materials. It also doubles your bank space as well as the limit of items you can have in your player homes. Finally, it provides bonuses to Experience gain (for leveling) and Inspiration (for crafting).

As to your first question, it depends. The main quest is designed to be undertaken solo, but most other content can be done in a group (and has a separate experience boost when grouped, I believe). I play the game with my wife, and outside of the occasional Solo instance, we have no issues. Your friend will probably level pretty quickly when paired with you.

(Shyn or others please feel free to correct me if I have misstated anything.)

Yeah, Abu has it pretty much spot on. Since the One Tamriel update, levels are effectively irrelevant pre-vet level dungeons and trials, you can both play together and both feel rewarded. Loot is itemized for each player individually and level appropriate. As a meaty zone to drift through, I'd recommend together, if neither of you have done Wrothgar, its a very solid storyline, two public dungeons, lots of world boss dailies.

If you want something a little different, Morrowind's warden is a strong all rounder akin to the templar, so similarly you could both drift around Vvardenfell together; wherever you go now there's a zone guide which will set you straight on the main story for the zone, and the main side quests, so finding stuff to do is a lot more straightforward if you (like me) would often get overwhelmed with the array of side quests and guild quests.

I am contractually required to point out that Elsweyr is a lovely place for a visit :p

Best option unless you want to play the new Necromancer class. Just roll new characters and have fun!

I have a level 20 something from years ago. Getting back into it I started a new character and learning the ropes again before I jump back into my level 20ish character.

Is the guild active? Going to start playing. This thread is so long I didn’t have the energy to look for the info

It is not active.

This is the only quest line I've done in ESO but it was great!

I made it to level 50 and CP 160 with my necromancer. I started him out as a stamina DPS, but realized that I was using a lot of dual wield abilities rather than actual necromancer skills. So I switch the race and respec everything. Been running him as a healer and having a blast healing through the dungeons. I wish I had more time to play but been busy. I try to do the daily dungeon finder and the crafting writs and horse training my low level alts.

If anyone is interested in playing on PC NA, join Kyle Dempster Studios and The Ranger Guild. Very noob friendly guilds especially since the GWJ guild is somewhat dead. There's always people on those two guilds. Plus The Ranger Guild has all the mundus stones and crafting tables in their "guild hall".

Just started playing again. Good times.

I'll probably do what I did with the last two expansions: preorder, forget about it, and then play it a couple months after release. I'm looking forward to the vampire rework and the new skill line though.

That said I've been playing this game again and I really enjoy it. For me, it's a perfect blend of exploration and character customization. I actually found myself reading the wiki for the lore.

So I don't do a lot of group content. There was a period where I convinced some friends of mine to play, and we did some dungeons. I had a lot of fun going in blind, trying to figure out mechanics and changing my skills on the fly, learning as I went. My friends drifted away from the game though, and I haven't done much random grouping because of the expectation that you know what you're doing. I suppose I could look up builds and walkthroughs of the dungeons, but that isn't as fun for me. Anyone have a similar experience or situation?

I jumped at the chance to play in Elsweyr and really enjoyed the quests and exploring every part of the map. What I'd forgotten though is how very easy the overland content is ESO. My khajiit main stam sorcerer only has 2 stormfist / 5 hundings / 5 briarheart (purple quality) and I am around CP400 and it was ... not as engaging as it could be, honestly. Pretty much every encounter (including the final boss) was one and done. I don't mind running dungeons for harder content, but PUGs are often a drag and I don't have time to commit to a group.

So probably done with ESO at this point.

Anyone still playing? Is there a Goojer guild out there?

I reinstalled after the announcement of the new expansion, but I haven’t actually played since the first couple days of Elsweyr. I think I’m a little bored with my character- I’ve been using the same build with the same gear for over three years now with only cosmetic items changing, but I also don’t really want to start from scratch with a new character.

I've lost count of how many times I've updated the game, fired it up, fed my horse, checked my journal, and then logged back off.

The story content is better when its less crowded anyway.
