Path of Exile catch-all

going to share one of my average joe money making strats here that you don't usually see listed cause it's not "hunting doctor cards" etc. But you can try hunting for doctor cards and do my strat at the same time.

I shaped burial grounds so it's t10. I unlocked the Lair map.

Shaped burial grounds is my only t10 (you can try you rluck at this for doctor cards and it's not the worst map in the world for doing legions, but not the best. Good enough, if yer good with a move speed skill.

Lair is my only T11 map.

Here's the kicker. You can easily do 200 to 300 burial grounds and NOT get a doctor card.

I've done about 30 lair maps and gotten 5 "wolven king's bite" cards (1/8 quills quiver) and have sold them all for 1 exalted orb each.

Mmmm, greater profit to Lair than to doctor card hunting for sure!

Also, if anyone has the tier 3 -# mana cost to skills workbench mod unlocked and is willing to help me out i will pay you greatly.

I'm severely frustrated at not having that yet, even tier 1 of it. I really need to craft a ring to put that on.

I actually went a different route this year and identified a trading market. I picked an upgradable unique item that is in demand due to being relatively cheap (15-20C). It is also a VERY popular choice for corruption. I was buying map/prophecy/unupgraded item for a total of 2C, running the map, and almost immediately selling the item for 15-20C depending on the resultant item's stats. I don't usually play a 'farming' style to make quick currency but this was too easy. I made 6 EX and bought my 6-link armor in about 3 hours of playing. So far this league I've found 4 items like this where the margins are pretty high. The margins vary though on most depending on final stats.

I've been trying to run Lairs all league and have dropped exactly 2 of them, hehe. I did get one card though.

Is there an end game guide you guys recommend? I just completed the story for the first time with an incinerate chieftain but after I finish the labryrinth I'm not entirely sure what to do next.

Tied for my most valuable drop with the boots from back in breach league.

That's an inspired learning gem that just dropped that's in the item slot in my currency tab.

Looks like it's worth 28 exalts today when it dropped, gonna try to sell it, used it briefly but it's just only worth it if you got headhunter too i believe so....off it goes to fund...something?

I did a thing this weekend....

http://poe-profile.info/profile/Fuzz...

In lower 80s with it, still upgrading, 48 exalts in.

video from earlier tonight at about 43 exalts in. and just below level 80

T7 glacier legion clear

Not finished yet, don't have access to + level of support gems craft yet which needs to go on bow and something for my shaped ring as well. Otherwise it's built and just gotta get another 13 levels to make it super stronk.

It is a Mathil build so building it now would cost more than it did me since i had many of the critical pieces to build this mid last week....at this point at the end of the weekend some pieces aren't available or are prohibitively costly due to the mathil effect over the weekend.

On the flip side, Mathril stream video from the weekend shows it off way better than my lame video.

What the historic jewel i'm using does, i bought several and just picked the best one for my nodes in the slot:

The one thing you really can't see in the profile is the inevitability jewels have corruptions. One prevents me from being able to be affected by corrupting blood, the other is increased global critical stike chance.

I had to re-read that Jewel's description twice to make sure it was in English. I really like this game, but I think maybe I'm doomed to be a casual.

Me too. Despite ~250 hours i don't think I have ever actually finished Act 10 even.

Timeless jewels are new. The description helps tell what the changes are made to the points around it. It's an additional layer to your build.

I beat the 4 Guardians and finally the Shaper this league for the first time. Guardians were pretty easy except for the Chimera's smoke cloud cheese and the Minotaur one shotting me once with tough map mods. Died twice on the Shaper in the final phase. I had trouble remembering that he had a clone wandering around too and got slammed.
I'm going to try to spawn an Uber elder but I'm not going to try to kill him on my own.

Happy to help anyone clear their first Uber elder. I didn’t kill mine myself the first time. Took me many tries and the right too. For my first kill ( cold vortex)

As the streamer Mathil says, when asked if PoE is worth trying: “ Asbolutely it’s a game you should dip your toes in for at least a thousand hours to see if you like it, just to skim the surface”

Timeless jewels can come from the new legion league boss battles started with emblems (100 shards can form an emblem) put 2 to 5 emblems in the map device and it starts a muti way boss battle war arena.

These jewels are basically impossible to trade meaningfully. They have tens of thousands of different “seeds” for 3 different “names” “each”.

So a Maraketh jewel can have 3 different names named in the service of and effectively unlimited iterations of the number in service ( effectively). The name of service and number can be randomized with a divine orb. The outcome of what the jewel does to nodes on your passive tree is based on the name and number out of a subset assigned to the jewel. (5 different historic timeless jewels).

What this does is personalizes your character. Effectively nobody will have the same two passive trees ever again. If you want the power of the ancient legion generals as your own you’ll collect tons of jewels and divine orbs and hunt for something that can go somewhere and do something obscenely rediculous and then build a character around it.

And, yea, lol.

The jewel above is simply nice.

My next goal this league is to find something obscene with my collected jewels and divine orbs out the wazoo and then do something with it that nobody else can do, someday...

Mathil the streamer has one like that he’s been streaming with on a nutty shield throw build. Something like 800% increased damage with lightning projectile attacks which made shield throw into and managed to get those nodes in the spot where that jewel does its thing. Finally a Mathil build nobody can copy.

This season has been crazy in terms of currency. I've had a few major drops as well (and ran shaper back to back and got two Starforges...lol rng.). Been playing a MF Tornado shot just for fun after my meta cyclone. Might start up another character but not sure what to play. Just realized that I'm also only a couple away from 36/40 challenges ... so much easier than past leagues.

I’ve just been having no luck getting timeless shards. I’ve been playing pretty regularly since league start and I still haven’t gotten 100 of any of them. I think my highest stack is around 80.

I’m running a Contagion build and have been able to 100% the monoliths since late Act 1, but most just aren’t dropping shards and when they do it’s 1-3 at most.

It sounds like your shot may not be 100% breaking the big rares and bosses at the back. This is a big problem on a non min maxed Ed/contagion build.

It’s really rare for me not get minimum of 2 up to around 20 shards from a 100% clear with a boss, avg 4-8

RNG went sideways tonight through a wormhole into another universe.

First yesterday this dropped:

Sold for 18.3 exalts.

Then tonight ilvl 85 fingerless silk gloves dropped, sold those for 8 ex.

then this:

With two built characters and unlimited funds even before tonights drop at this point, i bought 25k coins and am now enjoying obscene map running with the 5 slot device + every map with perandus on it.

Your league drops amaze me. I've dropped two raw exalts, and that's it! 10 Shapers, countless Elders, 2 Uber Elders and a character at 94 with hundreds of deaths and only one Watcher's Eye and no other drops worth more than 50C. I did however craft some boots that would probably sell for over 50EX, but they're mine.

I'm on the edge of starting trading, I think. My first real attempt at mapping is finally starting. I've only had two or 3 characters that could do it; this is the first one I am really trying to max out, level-wise.

(And I had a Headhunter card drop yesterday, too! Didn't know they were worth much, or even that you could trade cards. Hmmm.)

The headhunter card (The Doctor) can easily fund a character that can do all content this league. Nice one!

Question:

Are claws considered unarmed or 1h/dual wield attacks?

Also Frost Blades got an upgrade. Oh My! It's probably one of the best starting leveling skills out there now. I grabbed it for giggles to level up a Scion, and it was so much fun i re rolled another Trickster to focus on a full on FB build. It feels exceptionally OP.

Claws are 1hand & dual wield if using two and claw, they have zero connection to unarmed.

Doctor cards are selling for 15.8 to 16 exalts as i type this. It is more than enough to fund an end game character with very very good gear.

6 link unique armors cost about 4 exalt, Really good rare items cost 2 to 5 exalt (really good, not god like).

Amazing weapons can be meta crafted for 6 exalt/depending on build or bought for 3 to 10 exalts.

If you're starting mapping at this point and don't wanna worry about it i can probably give you one of every map.....i'll be on tomorrow evening (going to bed now)

I would be super happy to help you get started on trading:) If you don't feel like making a 16 exalt sale your first entry, i'm also more than happy to buy it from you for that and resell it so you can just focus on lower value purchases. I can split up the value into exalts and chaos too if you'd like to get several hundred chaos for lower end purchases. I'm sitting on 35 ex, 300chaos and two fully built toons at this point..

I play pretty efficiently, and i've gotten some luck. I kinda play with the philosophy i learned from zizaran...play that getting wealthy in PoE is about playing efficiently and proccing that RNG as much as possible. Everything is 50/50, it either will or it won't, but you gotta give it the chance to be, as many times as possible:)

So i play on a very strict, slightly modified, loot filter so i take 1 inventory or less out of ever map, go through it and rack in the tabs really fast (have all the special tabs loaded at the front of my inventory so i drop em all in quick, and on to the next map. picking up scrolls slows you down, so they're hidden, armor scraps are hidden too, only weaponsmithing scraps are shown for ID scrolls and i buy portals 1000 at a time for chaos orbs (those last a while).

The only "recipe" i have enabled in the filter is 6 socket item, so things like chromatic vendor recipe items don't show up for.

A rare item drop, very good, high rolls, great stats, is very rare to get, and it's gonna be worth maybe a few exalts. So you don't spent dozens of hours of cumulative time going through tons of them, just 1 inventory a map, of good base rare items.

Wealth is likely to come from the luckies which you are now more likely to proc cause you're proccing those chances faster. Super high value cards, super rare and desired unique/unique jewels, pure exalt drops.

Wealth will also come from lots of sales. Don't bother leaving a map to sell an item for 1c. I start league with a 2c all items tab and start throwing decent rares into it, eventually i up it to 3c minimum, then add a 5c all items tab, then add a 20c all items tab.

If i think it's worth over 20c i put it in my Shop tab and individually price it.

All of this is based around efficient gameplay, which lets me proc my dopamine faster and makes me have fun:)

I dropped 6 raw exalts Sunday....

2 in normal mapping, 4 in a series of 12 3-Emblem battles with my CoC Archer who can fill loot bars in a emblem battle solo.

3 emblem battles cost to run is 43 chaos per battle, so just a hair over 3 exalts in cost to run...so profits were...meh, not huge, but it was safe and i leveled off it (whole level on a toon that's not easy to level post 90, really really high death threat from legions on maps, but breaks the whole legion out.

Sample 3 Emblem Battle with my Archer (uploading as i post this) NASA Super Computer required to play?

Played for like 7 hours of hard play?

I had kind of just started to get to the mapping stage of this, then a bunch of crap happened, been gone for a couple weeks and lost my momentum. Still thinking about getting back in but wasn't enjoying my lightning trapper much, not sure I want to start over either. Made it further in this league than any other, so, hooray for that. Maybe check was Ziz has built while I've been away and see if any of that looks interesting.

Anybody wanna critique my build? Only been playing for about a month, but I think I'm doing pretty well so far. Working on the tier 9 map quests currently, and doing fairly well. I do die fairly regularly, but it's usually because I'm not moving around enough, or because I caught fire and didn't notice quick enough, or something like that (or elemental reflect maps - I one-shot my own damn self every single time - need to lrn2read). Generally avoidable deaths. Not sure if that'll change a lot as I progress further though.

Anyways, here's my profile link.

One specific question I have: I'd like to get more ES, preferably break 10k, but all the equipment I have is damn near the max ES I can find. Any tricks, special gear, etc that could push my ES higher?

I don't know the ins and outs of your build, but just looking at it from the outside the one thing that stands out is your equipment is very very defensive and fairly lackluster. Rings, belt, boots and gloves look like they could probably be replaced with stuff costing under 10C that would be a big upgrade. Again, I don't know the specifics of the upgrade, but I'm sure it's there. If you need the boots, belt and unique ring for a specific reason, disregard those slots. Your flasks are also completely defensive. It's usually nice to get one or maybe two offensive flasks in there. They can be a huge boost to killing power.
It's good to be defensive, but it's usually better to be able to one shot all blue and white monsters at least. Hopefully kill all the yellows before they can get in range to hit you.
Again, without knowing the specific mechanics of you build other than that it uses purifying flame I'm not going to be very good at suggesting specific upgrades.
I see you have 3 curses. Are you able to apply all three?
One glaring omission is a cast when damage taken setup for immortal call or steelskin. You'll get a big boost in hardiness from that. I'm playing a summoner this league and I removed haste (losing damage) in favor of Blood and Sand I think it's called? Sand aura blinds nearby enemies. I also picked up a cheap Dread Banner Aura for extra defense. I haven't died much since then and only lost one offensive aura. It's worth looking into if they fit in your build.

Too defensive eh? Can't say I expected that feedback - figured I need even more defense.

My damage output seems fine to me, certainly not having any trouble killing things yet. The game says my purifying flame currently puts out 100,266 dps. Not sure what good DPS numbers are though.

As for the curses, all 3 are attached to a CWDT gem. In my head that means when I take damage, the enemy takes all 3 curses to the face. I admit, I didn't do any research on that - my understanding of the mechanics could be totally off base.

Enemies can only have one curse applied at once unless you have a specific modifier that says enemies can be affected by one additional curse. You're going to have to pick the curse you like best :). Sometimes it's good to put curse on hit on your minion and let him/her curse the enemies before they actually hit you. OR you can have a secondary area skill that pops when you're hit that is linked to curse on hit so that everything around you gets cursed when you cast it (shield slam for melee builds maybe?). If you could double that DPS, you'd see a large jump in durability...most things wouldn't get a chance to hit you. Look at your items one at a time. If you have an item giving 60 total resist, focus on it as a resist item and try to find a similar one but with 100 total resist. Now you have another slot there that doesn't need the resists so you can focus it more on offense. Repeat until you run out of cash. Generally upgrades level come at 1 Chaos for baseline stuff, 10-25 chaos for stuff that if you fit everything together well can take you through T15 easily, and then 1EX+ for luxury items. When you get to luxury items, the stat jumps aren't usually as big, but you're getting nearer to best in slot or you're getting a great mod (like additional curse). The good news is you have tons of room to incrementally improve your gear.

Don't sleep on fossil crafting for some gear too. I made a pair of boots for my build that would cost 50-100EX to buy for about 10C worth of fossils and 1C for an ilvl 86 base. Granted I got great rolls, but the two previous tries made 2EX boots each time that I sold after I made the silly good ones.

Good defense is good, but as you progress into maps most deaths are one shots. Good offense reduces one shot chances tremendously. 6-7000 life protects from the first hit if you do get hit. 10000 (-6000 from the first hit) life isn't enough to absorb the second hit...you needed to have the monsters dead by then. CWDT immortal call/steelskin will protect from multiple small hits killing you quickly. IMO after 7K life, more offense is the way to go.

Flasks: You have warding on one, that's great. Try to get Warding on your quicksilver flask along with extra duration. Quality you flask for more duration. You want that one up all the time on curse maps. You need freeze immune on a flask when you upgrade the ring. Try to get a flask that removes burning too. The bismuth flask is a wasted slot. You can get those resists on gear for sure. If you can't get them, use the Wise Oak instead, it can increase your fire damage! Look at Atziri's Promise as an offensive flask as well. You have flasks with open affixes. Use and Orb of Augmentation to add the missing affix. Use Alterations on them to get the affixes you want OR buy them with the right affixes. Flasks can make a big difference.

Coolio, thanks for the tips. I've replaced 2 of my curses with Immortal Call + Increased Duration.
