North Carolina Meet-Ups and Catch-All

Fine so far here south of Raleigh. Some wind and rain but really nothing more than a normal thunderstorm. The coast looks completely screwed though.

Ok so far, but waiting to see what more rain will do. Backyard is a muddy swamp but no risk of house flooding because of the slope. Eyeing the trees around us hoping any more that give way don't fall on our house.

Just rain in Winston. Barely any wind.

Hey NC GWJers

I am actively seeking to relocate my family to the Ral-Dur area and would appreciate any help from the community in landing a job out there.

I have been a leader in software development and Agile in various capacities over the past 10 years; currently I work as a Product Owner. I started out as a software engineer and received my MBA a couple years ago. I'm interested in a role similar to my current with either the opportunity of upward mobility, or a manager position in the same discipline that would leverage my MBA. I've applied at many places, with a hand full of bites.

If you know of any related openings or know of someone else who might get me closer to an opportunity, I'd love to connect on LinkedIn.

Thanks for the assist, team.

I'd recommend looking at applying at SAS, RTI and Quintiles. ALL are large, well respected orgs that have a large footprint in the area and often recruit for your kind of skill set. Good luck! We need more goodjers in RDU!

Welcome pottsyg!

The RDU is a great area to be in.

I'll plug the company I work for as I think it's awesome

Will, a recruiter of reputation in RDU area, is a friend and someone I have used to find employees for my company. All around great dude. He’s going to reach out to you!

Thanks for the help, team. I'll check out those leads for sure.

ran across this thread on the 'recent activity' page. just tagging is cause i'm an RDU resident.

I thought all this activity was another cookout in Cary.

Maybe next month? Still want to meet all you locals

I'm game for a meet up!

Same here. Also, anyone in the area into DnD? About to start a new campaign.

International Gamers With Jobs Day is October 19th, 2019!

I'm interested in hosting a North Carolina GWJ event in Greensboro on that day.

Possible events:

- Boardgame Night
- Barcades (Boxcar Ba)
- Escape Room
- Movie?

Thoughts?

Have been to BoxCar, it's great. Have been to escape room but not the Gboro one yet.

Down for whatever. Hopefully the Cary crew can come over.

Unfortunately I already have plans for that day.

Unfortunately i'm a groomsman in a wedding in lynnville on the 20th. I'm pretty sure i'll have obligations that day.

Hmm. I haven't read the forums in a while and come back to find this request. I do enjoy hosting a cookout...

Is it too late in the season now? Who if anyone would be up for a September cookout?

I'm doing a birthday cookout for myself the 14th and my friend is hosting a murder mystery at her place the 21st for her birthday. So the 28th is all I have left this month.

But that's just me. Maybe everyone else is good for one of those weekends.

I think the only weekend in Sept I cant do it would the 28th.

I'm guessing the 7th is too soon and too hurricaney for everyone.

I've got stuff going on basically all weekends up until the 28th.

Arise! Any locals or visitors that are looking for a place to celebrate New Year’s Eve, message me for an evite to our annual party here in Cary.

I don't think we will be able to attend, but thanks for posting Yellek

Hey folks - Not too long ago I posted asking for networking help for our desired move to the area. I'm pleased to announce that we are now here!

Arrived just before Thanksgiving; live in SW Cary (closer to Apex really); work in Durham; settling in; loving life.

@Hassasain - thanks for the networking help.

@Yellek - Thanks for the open offer, but won't make it either.

I've honestly never met up with GWJers IRL, but would love to met up for lunch sometime with anyone in the Durham City Center area.

Welcome! Based on that location we might be neighbors...

Welcome pottsyg!

So anyone feel the earthquake this morning at 8am?

Think we slept through it all but some work friends over here mentioned noticing it.

I was having breakfast in my car in a parking lot when the car began to rock back and forth. At first I thought an extremely heavy truck was passing, but the parking lot was empty of all moving vehicles and so then I realized it must have been an earthquake! When I checked email/news a few minutes later, it was confirmed!

I thought it might be an earthquake or it might be the kids jumping upstairs
