Buying from Amazon during Prime Day is crossing a union strike line, FYI

Which union?
And honestly, as opposed to buying from them on any other day?

The warehouse workers, and yes - they're specifically taking a walkout action today and tomorrow:

Right. Thank you for the link.

Civ 6 Gathering Storm is $19.99 on Prime Day today. That's the cheapest I've seen it yet. Steam key.

This isn't trying to start an argument, because I really don't know the answer. How does Amazon's pay scale/demands on their warehouse workers compare to those of (say) Walmart or Sears?

How doesn't Amazon's treatment of their delivery workers compare to those of UPS or FedEx.

I really don't know.

Are we holding Amazon to a higher standard just because they're a tech company that makes a lot of money? Again, I really don't know.

Can someone give me some context?

I actually worked at ups and amazon. Hmmmm but I don't know what the current situation is. Amazon was one of the best jobs I ever had. I worked in the warehouse, offices and been around the country. With that said I'm sure different locations will have different experiences. Every new place felt different. You would also have to consider Amazon employees get stock options. I know a few people who became millionaires and all they did was stack books or clean bathrooms. I doubt the same can be said about any other company like target which I also worked for and those a holes didn't pay me my last check.

Mad Max is $3.74 on new egg.

Batman: Arkham VR is $7.49 on new egg. I think I read this was more like demo than a full game.

I've worked in logistics a bit for warehouses. General trend seems to be most places push their workers hard if there's a need. The usual reason is the places I've seen are chaos incarnate and mismanaged. Applies less to those in the office as then tend to be treated nicer. The gap in treatment between the two can be large. The real factor in a decent place or not tends to be upper management. If they have some agenda/quota/goal and don't care about much else then it'll be hell for most. If you have decent and smart people then it'll be busy but fair at least.

Amazon seems like they are more on the former. They built their company on logistics and every inch they push is a major win for them. 2-4 week shipping used to be the norm. They changed all that. So I wouldn't be surprised if they push people harder then average, but that's all hearsay on my part.

Background info.

Amazon does start at $15/hr which is better than pretty much any other job requiring that skill level.

But yeah, the John Oliver episode covered some really ridiculous restrictions on meeting numbers, not having time for the bathroom, etc.

And of course doing everything they can to make sure unions don't form and actually argue for decent breaks and treatment and benefits for the workers.

Yeah, if I remember correctly, it's an hour long experience, maybe 2 if you take your time. It's also not a combat game, you do detective work as Batman.

But as an experience it's pretty good, graphics are great in VR, definitely worth giving it a try on sale

Batman: Arkham VR is one of those great VR pieces that you use to "show off" your VR setup. It's fun, it's short, it's graphically impressive. But it isn't really a great "game" experience.

Also apparently the $1 for 3 months of gamepass is back and gives you ultimate this time.

It's insane how much of a deal this is. As of the time of this post:

247 Xbox One games.
116 PC games.

Xbox Super Game Sale started today. Anything in there a must have?

Not to be outdone, Ubisoft is starting their own subscription game service. They claim over 100 games, and the list includes deluxe/ultimate versions of their franchise titles (Anno, Assassin's Creed, The Crew, Far Cry, Tom Clancy, Watch_Dogs, etc.). There is a disclaimer in the game list that premium or special editions "may not include all premium content." The list is padded out with quite a few classics, but it looks like no shovelware.

They are offering Uplay+ signups now for a free month starting in September, after which it will be $15/mo.

My only problem is that I own most of the games on the list. But the subscription will include new releases, and Ubi has quite a few good ones in the pipeline.

IMO $15 is too much (for what they offer) as an ongoing subscription but I will certainly sub/unsub when they release interesting new stuff.

I agree, but the one thing I think a lot of us need to get better at is actually cancelling unused subs.
I know I should be since I have xPass, PSN, Nintendo, plus a bunch of streaming.

Time for a one-off front page article?

That’s tempting, if I’m being honest.

Maybe I should get in touch with Ccesarano and do another “Let’s Not” video.

Got a notice from Steam today that Automachef has been released, and it's on sale for the launch at 10% off, so $13.50. Great price for a clever little puzzler from Team 17.

It's also available for Switch, but I don't know if they're offering a lunch discount (typo and it stays) on the eShop.

Don't the have a fix for the colonial marines now that makes the alien target null to the player?

Yes, the eShop has the same lunch special.
