Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor – Martyr (Catch All)

So I bought the soundtrack this morning, finally, and it's VERY good. Good value too, about $10 for three hours of really great music.

I picked this up in the Steam sale and have finally gotten the chance to get into it. I just applied to Ordos_GWJ, although I'm not exactly sure what that gets me yet. I'm still working through a bit of information overload in all of these character screens.

Nothing really other than being awesome.

There are some bonuses like the guild gets a chest if you do something enough each week.

Got your application, welcome.

Thanks!

Well, last night I discovered that the Monday Glory reset is really Sunday evening for me. That's annoying because I was really close to the 400-point reward.

So is everyone else just done with the campaign and all the DLCs? Will I see anyone from the Ordos on when the expansion drops?

I started off with a Crusader with the rocket launcher armor, but I've settled on the jump jets. Shorter cooldown and I like the mobility. I'm using the autogun most of the time. I switch to the heavy bolter for armored targets and elite enemies.

I got my crusader to 50 and I think my psyker to 30 and assassin to 20. I'm sure I'll be putting a lot more time into this once the tech-adept becomes playable. With the 2.0 change I found the psyker to be much easier to play, likely because I was able to level him up through the early levels faster and get the core skills unlocked. After about 20 he was probably able to clear levels faster than my crusader though of course it was riskier.

Also, we have an Influence point. I'm not sure what that's for. Cabal tech tree?

Think they may tie in to the new announced live action inquisitor movie? Based on eisenhorn novels.

I play off and on. Definitely getting the new expansion. I've finished the campaign and DLCs. I still enjoy it.

Prophecy is out today.

Prophecy's story is a continuation of the main campaign in Inquisitor as it picks up right where the prior one left off so odd to sell it as a standalone product but I assume that's just in the hopes that they'll pick up new players. If you did the release day 1.9g "patch" for Inquisitor then when you buy Prophecy it just unlocks the content, no new download needed.

I'm having fun with the tech-adept who's a full on pet class. All of the customization comes from the attribute skills so for once I'm not dumping all my initial points into health or defense. You can change out the weapons on your various summons, add shields, regen, increased damage, etc as well as unlock new skills for them like detonate on death, a leaping attack, charge, things like that. Pet equipment also drops as loot just like your own equipment but it only seems to increase the modifiers but doesn't include any raw damage numbers. The weapon choices for the tech-adept are extremely limited when compared to the other classes but really your own personal weapon is more of an afterthought in most fights.

That's practically the opposite of a standalone product. What a weird choice.

For some reason this patch/expansion/whatever reset some of my game options seemingly at random. Most were unchanged, but all the volume options were dropped to the lowest setting and map transparency was changed to maximum, among a few others.

So, I have both... Did I screw up? When do I switch to Prophecy? Do I just play one or the other to get all the stories?

It’s all the same. It’s... questionably... presented as a stand-alone game and has it’s own entry in the game library but when you load it up it just runs Martyr. Owning it unlocks some extra story stuff and a fourth class option in the character creation screen.

So... Just switch to Prophecy and don't look back?

I think what he means is if you have both, no need to uninstall Martyr, it will already unlock the new content from Prophecy into Martyr with no need to install Prophecy. I don’t have it yet but that’s what I gather.

It looks like if you have both, you can just run either. From the FAQ:

Since it's a stand-alone expansion, how will my account and the game clients work? If I have both games, do I have to exit Martyr in order to play Prophecy or are they integrated?
For those who own Martyr, the stand-alone packs will be integrated. You don't have to exit Martyr in order to play Prophecy (and vice versa).

I just finished the Martyr campaign myself with a Crusader. I'll probably pick up Prophecy while the discount is active.

Not spoilering this since I'm late to the party and I think everyone else has finished the main campaign. That first mission in Chapter 5, with the defense, was the least enjoyable bit of the game for me. There was another mission earlier in the game that took me more than one attempt (beat the two pain-machines seiging the governor), but this was the only one that gave me real problems. After some reading, I ended up switching to a Greataxe and Sentinel armor. That was an improvement, but I still lost pretty badly. I ended up switching out my perks to improve my speed and changing my inoculator to improve my focus regen as well, and that finally got me through the mission.

I tried a mission at +5 levels to see how likely I am to complete some of the don't-die challenges, and died once. Bleh.

How do you replay the Martyr campaign with the Tech Priest? Can you do this?

I want to restart from the beginning with the new character.

From everything I've read you can't play the original Martyr campaign as a tech-adept. If you want the full story it looks like you'd have to play through the Martyr campaign as one of the original 3 classes then play through Prophecy as a tech-adept. It's an interesting way to present the story but an odd way to package the game. The story is most definitely a sequel to the original and if you're in it for the story you're not going to know anything about the main McGuffin of Prophecy without going through Martyr first.

Ooh bebe. Reinstalled his last night and he improved optimization is remarkable. It’s been a year so I rerolled a new crusader, going with heavy gunner this time around.

So I'd only really played campaign missions up until this point. I decided to play a few missions in systems to get influence to unlock more inoculator components. I didn't realize how much easier it was to earn influence and glory when you can apply tarot cards.

Also, a cabal mission came up that was to donate 190,000 credits, so I did, lol. We have another level. The next mission is to donate one of the basic crafting materials. I actually have enough to do this too, but it wouldn't leave me with much.

Anyways, we have a couple of points to spend on the tech tree. I was thinking the ones that give the rogue trader more things to sell. All the mission-rewards improvements seem dependent on co-op missions, which we don't really have enough active members to do.

Console 2.0 update apparently came out last week.

Patch 2.2.0 is out with some new content.

Just a couple of minor things. There's now a buff that changes weekly. It's currently +20% experience.

There's also an event going on for a couple of weeks. There are some named mobs that can spawn in place of Villains that give some rewards. The rewards are Relic quality I think, along with some new cosmetics.

The expansion is on sale on steam midweek madness. ($16.74)
I am tempted to pick it up.

They've definitely changed things because I was stuck in the Martyr campaign, but have since been able to pass it. It feels a bit more fluid since last I played as well.

So I finished I believe the original Martyr campaign and now into the add-on portion. Very fun! Stuff also seems to open up a bit more at level 50.

Weekly events are fun too! Did this week's even with days to spare. Also found a great perk for my assassin. It basically resets any cool down for a skill if a kill is achieved. So now I'm using quick aimed shots left and right to take out hordes of bad guys in short order.

Now I'm working on system influence to unlock some more tarot cards. This game has really, really come together.

Thanks for the update, I am looking forward to jumping back into this!
