NFL 2019: Draft

Well, this is gross. Gross in the middle of a gross situation.

WHB’s Kevin Kietzman taken off air indefinitely following comments on Reid’s family

While discussing suspended receiver Tyreek Hill on Monday, Kietzman mentioned Reid’s family:

“Andy Reid does not have a great record of fixing players. He doesn’t. Discipline is not his thing,” Kietzman said during his 2-6 p.m. show Monday. “It did not work out particularly well in his family life and that needs to be added to this as we’re talking about the Chiefs. He wasn’t real great at that either. He’s had a lot of things go bad on him: family and players. He is not good at fixing people. He is not good at discipline. That is not his strength. His strength is designing football plays.”

Some interpreted that as Kietzman referring to Reid’s son Garrett, who died in 2012 at age 29 of an accidental heroin overdose while at Eagles training camp, where he was helping the team’s strength coach.

It is a full on sh*t show now.

The Chiefs and Rams have the worst fanbases in the NFL, according to science. Or, at least, according to a study that ranks based on fan money spent, social media engagement, etc.

Jags are 29th.

Niners are 9th.

Cowboys and Patriots are top two, which according to the GameGuru law of NFL rankings, invalidates the entire study.

I browsed the article. Does it take into account things like economic status of fans? I'd think that factors into teams not on the coasts or in Texas.

I would call social media activity a negative, not a positive. The more there is, the more annoying and toxic the fan base is.

Look at #1 and #2.

Yeah, but their fan base was already annoying before social media.

As fugazi as the Patriots fanbase are you can't argue with 3 of the NFC East teams there.. best division in the NFL, most SB wins, and only division with each team having a SB Win.. oh and also 3-1 against Bellacheat and Snake Oil... and of course home to a bonafide god damn American Hero in Eli Manning. Nuff said.

Interesting guest article from small town Idaho at Football Morning in America (still a stupid name since I can't ever remember it).

It's crazy, he was 500lbs before he started losing weight, and lost over 100. There is a video I saw earlier about him discussing his weight loss, because he wants to be able to walk his daughter down the aisle at her wedding one day. Very heartbreaking to hear that now that he's gone, but it also makes me take a step back and reassess my own health.

*Update*
Here it is

It's (supplemental) Draft Day! Are you guys pumped?

Wake me up when no one gets picked.

So if someone gets taken, does that mean smother you with a pillow so you don't ever wake up?

In other news, apparently nobody wants to work for the Washington Slurs. From VPs down to the secretaries, it sounds like everyone wants to get out of there.

Cardinals select S Jalen Thompson in round 5 of the supplemental draft.

The Houston Texans are just not going to have a GM for 2019.

Also, Robert Kraft is back to buddying up with Trump, in case you needed any more reason to dislike the Patriots.

I forget who tweeted it but someone mentioned it'd be maximum level shade thrown at Kraft if the centerpiece was made of orchids.

How does this work? I would have thought the thing would end after every team passed in the first round. How do they get to a fifth round?

I still harbor the belief Trump is who told Kraft about the parlor.

The way the supplemental draft works is, whatever round you use a pick in, you give up your pick in that round in the next real draft.

So Arizona took Thompson in the 5th round because they were willing to give up their 2020 5th round pick to do so.

I knew about the losing a pick thing (and now that I think about it further it makes sense that there would basically never be a first round pick). I'm just confused about the mechanics of it. I think it's because I thought it was a thing that once a team passed they were done.

I assume they treat it like an actual draft? Not sure the order of teams but they probably go through the rounds until Arizona blinked in round 5.

Thompson was also linked to the Packers yesterday in my news feed so obviously someone some teams were interested in but the Cards anted up the most.

Ok, so it seems it's not actually a draft. Teams bid picks on players. Highest round pick wins. If multiple teams bid the same round pick, it's goes to the team higher in the order that is partially by record and partially random.

And, apparently there have been several first round picks. Including The Boz and the last Browns quarterback that was worth a damn.

Missed this yesterday.

I think this feat is being vastly overrated by chiefs fans, but it was fun. I don't even think this should count as out of the stadium, to be honest. But it goes into the sports is for fun category.

But this was a pretty great response.

Richie Incognito, uh, just click the link.

Can't believe the guy has a job.

Send him to the Titans. I heard their coach has been investigating how to sever body parts.

The NFL is not going to suspend Tyreek Hill, and Ross Tucker pretty much sums up my thoughts:

I accept that there may not have been enough evidence to pursue a conviction, but an NFL suspension doesn't require conviction. What exactly is Tyreek's official explanation for his son's injury? What is his justification for what we heard in that recording?

If you are still on the broken arm, then the story has moved on well past you a month ago. There are issues, but the broken arm was determined by doctors and investigators at the time as not being from abuse.

http://www.810whb.com/2019/06/10/whb...

Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill did not break his three-year-old son’s arm last January, and neither did his fiancée, Crystal Espinal. According to multiple sources close to the investigation, Hill and Espinal were cleared of any role in the broken bone injury almost immediately after the investigation began in March.

Investigators quickly agreed with the medical staff that the broken bone was the result of typical accident involving a rambunctious toddler, consistent with reaching out to brace for a fall.

The investigation into Hill and Espinal began weeks after the broken bone was first treated, when Espinal, according to sources, asked a third party to call authorities and tell them that Hill was responsible for the boy’s injury. Espinal has admitted she was trying to shame Hill because in her mind, he had become too controlling and abusive again in their long and stormy relationship.

Hill and Espinal are currently separated and neither has custody of the boy at this time.

Phase 1: Rambunctious toddler hurts himself
Phase 2: ?
Phase 3: Neither parent has custody of the child any longer

So what exactly is the piece I'm missing? We can reframe the question to that.

Draw Play Dave drew a "card" for each of the 1st round draft picks, and there's a few good ones in there.

I particularly like #7.

They've lost temporary custody while the child abuse allegations were being investigated. So far it was determined that Hill and Espinal didn't break his arm, though the DA believes a crime did take place (ie. abuse of the child) but couldn't make it stick due to lack of evidence.

Cops have been called multiple times. Child was put in temp custody. Hill is in therapy again. No charges have been brought.

Hill is a piece of sh*t, clearly, but hasn't broken the law, so no suspension.

That's my take.
