Is there not some kind of gender discrimination law that would apply in this case?

...oh, wait, it's Mississippi. Forget I asked.

I feel like you could write an entire book about what this age of PsyOps and conspiracy is doing to relationships, but here are just a few sad stories.

People Tell Us How QAnon Destroyed Their Relationships

We can't ignore the danger that QAnon poses for the upcoming elections; you better believe each and every one of Q's followers will be voting, including my mother who hasn't voted in an election since Nixon. They'll be voting with information that they got from a LARPer, and in my mind, that's worse than Russian interference.
If I could get my hands on the piece of sh*t that started QAnon, I might end up in jail. This person has made my mother's life sadder, and our relationship almost nonexistent.

I'll be blunt. You're better off with those relationships dying on the vine.

If someone is stupid/gullible/crazy enough to believe that bullsh*t, they're too stupid/gullible/crazy to have a functional relationship with. Belief in Q is A Red Flag, and should be treated as such. Run the other way, don't look back, and be thankful that you were tipped off and got out.

Jonman, once again, has the right of things.

Even a stopped clock....

Color me not surprised...

(CNN)Not long after a 14-year-old girl reported Jeffery Epstein to authorities in 2005, she says she received a warning from someone who claimed to be in contact with the well-connected financier.
The girl would be paid cash if she agreed not to cooperate with law enforcement, the person told the accuser, adding that "those who help him will be compensated and those who hurt him will be dealt with," according to a Palm Beach, Florida, police report reflecting the accuser's statement.
The threat was one of many intimidation and bare-knuckle tactics that accusers and witnesses told police they faced after Florida authorities opened their first investigation into Epstein.

'I can't bring her back': parents of girl killed by California police speak out

Benson Williams clutched the bright pink shirt in his hands. It helped him feel close to his daughter as he struggled to process the reality that he would never hold her again.

The 46-year-old sat beside his wife in their Anaheim living room on Thursday afternoon, trying to make sense of how their bubbly and energetic 17-year-old girl had left the house on Friday with a smile on her face, and wound up shot dead by a police officer on a busy southern California freeway.

The authorities so far have told the parents very little. Why she was fatally shot remains a mystery to them.

“It’s unbearable,” the father said, holding the shirt that she wore the day before her death and still smelled of her perfume. “We don’t have any answers.”

Hannah Williams was shot and killed on the evening of 5 July in Anaheim, a city 25 miles south of Los Angeles. Police have offered few details of what happened before the shooting or why the officer opened fire, and are still investigating the incident.

The Orange county district attorney’s office said that the policeman was a local officer with the Fullerton department and was driving on the freeway when he observed the 17-year-old driving at a “high rate of speed”, adding that the two vehicles “made physical contact” at some point.

Authorities also claim a “replica gun” was “recovered at the scene”.

Fullerton police said in a statement on Thursday that the department was still investigating the shooting, but that the incident was caught on body-camera footage and that the agency would release the video in the coming days.

A local highway was closed for hours after the shooting. Anaheim police said in a statement following the incident a “female suspect” had died at the hospital.

Y'know, you never know with these things, but man, the way parts of the original story about this read...

The Anaheim police department initially said that its officers recovered an “item appearing to be a handgun”, but could not provide more details until it was examined forensically.

The Anaheim police department’s role is to “investigate any criminal actions” by Williams, Sgt Daron Wyatt told the Guardian in an email on Tuesday morning. “Since she is deceased, it is a moot point,” he added. Wyatt said he had no further updates, since “the interview of the involved officer hasn’t taken place yet”.

It’s unclear why the officer had not yet been questioned four days after the killing.

Wyatt did not respond to questions about what was recovered on the scene, and Fullerton police did not respond to an inquiry. A spokesperson from the Orange county district attorney said the replica gun was “found near her”, but declined to comment further.

I'm going to withhold personal comment here, outside of twisting my mouth into a very skeptical position.

Ahh the old replica gun trick. How convenient

Not to long ago a cop was caught with toy guns to plant on people.

Recovered from the trunk of the patrol car?

Body camera video has been released. Unfortunately, appears to be a combination of mental illness and something not entirely unlike suicide by cop. My skepticism was wrong.

John Oliver, kicking ass and taking names.

With a heaping dose of help from his staff and researchers...

Early Saturday morning, that man, Willem Van Spronsen of Vashon Island,

Well that explains it.

Explains what, exactly?

snarky joke about Vashon folk, that's all. It's a largely anti-vaxx community. Nothing meaningful.

long story short? I don't want to give WSJ money.

They're sad that their name is now associated with greed and letting people die, because their efforts to make themselves look good by giving money are hurt because now their name is associated with OxyContin. Since they made $4 billion on it and all. So now the existing family in-fighting about running the business is flaring up.

Purdue Pharma, their company, is now publicly associated with things like Richard Sackler predicting a "blizzard of prescriptions" and Purdue arguing in court that they shouldn't face consequences because the regulators let them get away with it.

oh. well. Let me go grab the micro-forceps and microscope so I can play the tiniest of violins for them.

It's really easy not to be associated with greed and letting people die if you don't let people die in order to make more money.

Yeah, but see they used to be able to make billions of dollars without people associating their names with the deaths.

People know their names now for the wrong reason and they can't just donate a couple million for a new building to make people forget anymore. They did good things for people (with a tiny fraction of their blood money) so why should they be held accountable?

Meanwhile I'm sitting over here and thinking about Those Who Walk Away From Omelas.

A link to a report about Treasury running low on cash followed by these amazingly prescient predictions:

1) It will be caused by greedy poor people who have the audacity to be poor while expecting government services. 2) Another culprit will be fat cat teachers and teacher unions. Also Mexicans, liberals, Iran, and the fake media. 3) More and bigger tax cuts will get us out of it because when corporations and rich people get tax cuts they reinvest that money in creating jobs. 4) We'll need to socialize bank losses because socialism is good for that and that alone. 5) To do so, we'll have to "tighen our belts" (around our necks) and get rid of wasteful government spending on Social Security. 6) Democrats will compromise with Republicans on this for of trickle down stimulus rather than risk being viewed as partisan.

Is that satire?

We are Delaware Liberal. We are a political news and opinion blog that concentrates primarily on local Delaware politics, but also on national politics. And yes, we are liberal, progressive and Democratic, and thus, our take on events will, unlike our mainstream media, have a liberal bias. But conservatives, Republicans, moderates, Libertarians, and Independents are welcome here. Have fun, and stop by often.

Yes, it's satire. At least in the sense that the authors disagree with it, but it is exactly what this administration will say.

Movimiento Cosecha, Never Again Action, and #JewsAgainstICE have occupied ICE headquarters and shut it down. I'm seeing statements of there being over a thousand protesters.

The person who passed away today is a retired Supreme Court Justice. Not a current one.

Just thought I should mention that detail first, since some headlines are burying that part in the articles.

Weird news from my state.

Tupac-Obsessed Iowa Public Servant Resigns In Mystery

The Iowa Department for Human Services provides services to the poor, children, senior citizens, and people with mental illness, addictions, or disabilities. Jerry Foxhoven, a retired law professor, was appointed to head up the agency in 2017, and until he was ousted last month, he added another directive to that long list: spreading the good word of Tupac Shakur.

According to the Associated Press, the 66-year-old public servant held weekly “Tupac Fridays” listening sessions in the DHS office, celebrated his 65th birthday with cookies that depicted Tupac’s face and the phrase “Thug life,” and shared some 350 pages’ worth of emails to colleagues invoking the late rapper and his lyrics.
