Apex Legends - Catch All

Yea i'm excited to dig into rank.

Details on ranked mode are now on the subreddit. The only surprising part is that once you make it into a higher category, you can't fall out. You can fall from Gold 3 to Gold 2, but you'll never fall to Silver.

Personally, I think that's a weird decision and a mistake. Lock in the higher tier rewards, like other systems do, but don't artificially keep people in higher ranks than they should be.

Right there with you. Notes indicate they're open to changing it. It could also make for a miserable experience down the line if you have some uncharacteristically good runs and rank up past your level. I'm not sure how I get the whole RP cost works, though. Maybe, you can queue in any rank, but need a certain point amount to hit higher levels, and only rewards are tied to the highest you've achieved.

My most frequent squadmate is much better than me. Imagine he pulls me up a level and then I'm there for the rest of the season. This seems like such an obvious issue one would think they have to have considered it.

The game seems to have acquired an extra sheen of polish in this new season. I last played a couple weeks ago, and everything seems slightly improved - except my mid-range game.

I like the changes on the map. I haven't had much change to play Wattson yet. So far this season I haven't won any games. I've made it as #2 more times than I ever did during S1. But I do like a lot of the changes. I have not tried ranked yet, and I'm not sure I will since I know my skill level could never match up.

I'm having fun with rank so far. Not doing well, but still having fun.

140 games and only 4 wins and 35 top 5s

Like the gun changes overall, but hate the spitfire nerf.

Did they nerf Spitfire again? I thought I had read the latest balance notes.

I think it's they buffed others and it's not as dominate anymore which is a good thing

Last nerf made it useless, if they nerfed it again, that's just a joke.

I only played a dozen or so games during S1 so never had a chance to try it after the Nerf.

I am enjoying season 2... and no, the spitfire is just fine still

Here's a tiny clip of me mowing some people down with it!

Spitfire is NOT what it used to be, but i didn't say it was useless

I'm not impressed with Wattson's fence ability. The fences are too easy to get around and you catch people like in that video like 1 in 20 times now if they're not paying attention. They're way more obvious than Caustic shrooms... The ultimate though is top notch if placed where people can't get an angle on it.

I was worrying they had nerfed the spitfire too much, I don't think anyone else was saying that.

Yes, the fences are obvious, no doubt about it. It's nice when you are being pursued and you can drop fences and let them get pushed into it by hostiles on the other side while you heal up. Like most abilities, fairly strategic, and not something you can easily dominate with all the time.

I think the fences are about area denial, not about trapping people *usually*.

Today's fixes included removing all location-tied Daily Challenges, which I think is a tremendous improvement. The other day I got three Dailies that were all tied to specific locations and it really altered how I looked at the map, and not in a great way.

Oh? I have some weeklies that are location-tied. Trying to find people to fight in Swamps is kinda rough, but I'm halfway there Just go to Hydro Dam with multiple squads, and lure them to Swamps with a care package or something.

That's the thing... they don't deny anything. They're very easy to see and with some very few exceptions you can just shoot their base and make them go away.

I didn't mind the location ones as much as i do the execution ones. I almost never do them because it's an easy way to get dead.

I don't really concern myself with the dailies unless I know I can do them. Otherwise I skip them.

I've been matched with some really frustrating players in unranked. Either they want to solo and then suddenly expect me to save them when they get downed on the other side of the map or they disconnect right away.

I have not had the best experience with playing solo. I mean, I get more wins that way than with a pre-made team, but that's probably because the people I tend to squad with are often crap. I'd rather play with friends than win, tbh.

I don't think that I want Apex to be my #1 game anymore, but I think the new daily and weekly challenges are a big improvement. The location-based weekly challenges remain, though, and do affect my gameplay. Not sure that's fair to my rando squadmates.

The map overhaul is nice, too.

Yea week 2 has location challenges still. Thought they were going away?

According to the devs the Daily location challenges did, not the Weeklies. Is that not so?

Yea i'm just seeing a new one for the weekly.

Also i just reached rank Gold IV. The load times for the matches are double or triple than they were before.

Do you mean the queues/waiting for game to fill up since you bumped up a tier?

Correct, takes 2-5 minutes now for a lobby to fill and the match to start.

I melted someone with the L-Star last night, which was fun. There sure are a ton of care packages out there these days.

Yup, two launch when the game starts, and keep dropping. I'm really enjoying the ranked play, but frequently play unranked to stay with my squad friends.
