That does not look comfortable.

I am excited for Dragon Warrior on the Switch. The Treehouse presentation did a good job at selling the quality of life improvements and the 2D mode.

Cool, thanks for the advice. Just didn't want to go get one to have brand new hotness come out and have all the buyers remorse.

Here's your first look at the Switch Mini, folks. And no, I'm not trolling:

That's from HonSon's website. They even have a "Nintendo Switch Mini" as a selection in their drop down menu.

Okay, so maybe that's not the real Switch Mini, but this company is making accessories for the Switch Mini.

I hope it comes pre-installed with Mother 3.

Mother 3 wasn't released in 2013.

Nonsense. The spirit of the Xbox "Duke" controller lives in that beast.

Update:

Update: We've spoken to a HonSon representative about the product listings in question, and have been told that the company has based these products on "secret" information and that it is waiting for Nintendo to officially confirm the system before putting these items into production; HonSon will then "adjust the model to ensure it can perfectly suit the console". The representative also confirmed that, based on the information it has received, the Switch Mini is (as the name suggests) "a little smaller" than the current version.

Mother 3 confirmed for sure.

People making mountains out of molehills regarding a potential Wonderful 101 port again.

I'd be more than happy for such a thing but I will believe it when I see it.

HonSon has prepared a Wonderful 101 Switch accessory pack, just in case.

This is the good stuff

I can’t help but think that by “secret” information they mean “stuff we guessed”.

DF doesn't have much to add to what I've posted before. Pretty much it's all "there's an X1 revision coming" coupled with "Nintendo should use it".

I'm on that train.

Good changes. Now someone else buy it and Guinea pig it for me. I have a feeling the game is gonna come up short.

I'm glad to see they listened to a lot of the feedback. I'm a big fan of Armored Core 4 (which this game seems to want to mimic), and I have high hopes...But the demo honestly killed a lot of my excitement. It felt a bit sloppy, and the performance was very rough.

I really want this to be good, but I'm going to hold out. I genuinely don't know what to expect after seeing that video.

Switch Lite, nice. Second household Switch come Christmas then.

And for those looking for links or citation, it seems the Nintendo UK YouTube account was the one to break the news.

Specs comparison.

That $199 price is killer.

Kinda sad that they shrunk the screen though.

Does his voice sound different?

GIVE ME THAT DPAD ON MY SWITCH!

Does Switch have cloud saves?

Yes, with Online subscription. There are a few (couple?) games that don't allow for cloud saves though.

I don't get the point of this. You're losing out on a bigger screen, replaceable controllers, and HDMI output to save a mere $100. Sure, it's fine, but I can't see a situation where I wouldn't just pay the extra $100 to get the complete system. I was expecting this to be the equivalent of the 2DS (super cheap and durable system for kids), but this lacks both the savings and the durability. Perhaps as a second system for another person in your household?

$100 is quite a lot really. I am surprised they can cut it by that much.

I just wish they had colors that were not butt ugly.

Not if it's the Pro Controller DPad though! Hopefully it's improved from that(and also means it's coming to the Pro Controller!)

Did anyone else cringe when the Switch was just thrown into the bag without a case?

This just makes me sad Nintendo isn’t running a separate portable line, if I’m being honest. I love my Switch, but I tote my 3DS around a lot these days because the games I like on that were clearly designed for a handheld whereas with the Switch I definitely feel sometimes like I’m squinting at a harder to see version of a console game most of the time.

I'm honestly a bit surprised they'd make a device without the separable Joy-Cons, but the video kind of answered my doubts with the obvious solution: just buy Joy-Cons! The question then becomes who the market is.

My first assumption is that it's one of those "Japan First" things, given that the Switch Lite literally looks like a replacement for the Vita. However, it's already been doing gangbusters in Japan. Are that many people going to switch (no pun intended) over to a handheld only model, I wonder?

We've also already covered here on GWJ that there are definitely plenty of players that pretty much use the device exclusively handheld, so clearly there are folks to whom this is a great form-factor. I just wonder how much of a market that is.

These aren't criticisms, though. My largest concerns were a "Switch Pro" and the division of the market that could create. This isn't that. I still rolled my eyes and kind of hoped Nintendo would just stick with the one model, but there's nothing invasive about a Switch Lite. Nothing feels as if I somehow got ripped off for being an early adopter. It's just a different option.

And I'm fine with that.

But can you actually login to two Switch systems at once? I had to do a system transfer when I upgraded to the Smash Bros Switch.

I would totally buy this just for the d-pad but if you can't be registered and playing on two devices at once it's useless.

It's too bad that it doesn't have video output in some fashion. If it did it would be perfect for my usage. A lighter, more travel friendly system, that could still hook up to a big screen and use the pro controller.

I know a bunch of you use & love the join cons but I find them terrible for ergonomics and therefor a literal pain to use. Also, I'm pro the option of not having extra lithium ion batteries that are never going to get used (for price, total battery life, and environment).

For me it makes sense as I'm 100% handheld.. I'll probably give away my Switch and dock and just use this as a handheld exclusively so the whole two Switch one digital library won't affect me.
