Welcome folks, and happy “34th Anniversary of Back to the Future” week! You may all celebrate for the fourth year in a row by observing how freaky it is to live beyond the future, at least so far as the date referenced in the movies. Don’t forget to demand the obligatory “Where’s my hoverboard?” of everyone you see before realizing how old you suddenly feel.

They Are Billions finally comes out of Early Access and into full, multi-platform release. It feels like we’ve already been talking about this steampunk, zombie RTS for ages. By all accounts, the campaign mode is strong—albeit with some multi-hour missions—and survival mode is brutal. The devs have tried to crack the “RTS on consoles” problem by allowing you to pause at any time to make decisions.

OVIVO is another entry in the burgeoning genre of art platformers. The stark black-and-white aesthetic houses its key mechanic: in the white parts of the screen, gravity goes down; in the black parts, it goes up. There’s no text or tutorial, you’re just supposed to soak up the relaxing soundtrack and explore the game for yourself, possibly uncovering hidden messages and mysteries along the way.

Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers is a big expansion for Final Fantasy XIV, the extremely online version of the franchise. I am ignorant of Final Fantasy, but this seems compulsory for fans—the level cap lift alone should seal the deal.

Just Cause 4: Los Demonios adds a very demonic, very purple island to Just Cause 4, and a crossbow to help deal with it. This is the second lowkey, interesting piece of DLC for Just Cause 4. I get the feeling the GOTY edition is going to be a good value purchase down the track.

Stranger Things 3: The Game is an official tie-in to the upcoming TV season. I’m surprised to discover it’s actually the second Stranger Things game, and they’re both produced and co-developed by Netflix. It’s a beat ’em up with a crisp 16-bit art style. I get a real Gauntlet vibe from it, in that each character has their own weapon and special attacks, and there’s co-op maneuvering required to open doors. Plus, there’s the waves of goons you beat on. The violence is teen-rated, so not too gory. It looks like a fun 12-15 hour game. GOTW.

Sea of Solitude is the game that got tons of good vibes after it was announced in last year's E3, right?

Just Cause 4: Los Demonios adds a very demonic, very purple island to Just Cause 4, and a crossbow to help deal with it. This is the second lowkey, interesting piece of DLC for Just Cause 4. I get the feeling the GOTY edition is going to be a good value purchase down the track.

Spot on. JC3's best stuff was in the DLC. Shame they keep leaving this stuff for then.

Edith Finch on Switch. Eventually everything is getting ported.

In for Stranger Things 3: The Game today, likely for Sea of Solitude at some not-too-distant point in the future.
