Playstation 4 Games Catch-All

Spider-Man is in the top 10 games of all time. It's a masterpiece. The DLC mostly holds up to the awesomeness of the base game, but at times can slide a little in comparison. 100% worth it, must buy, would buy again. In fact, I think I'll go dig into that New Game + I had started and take the afternoon off.

$16.49's definitely worth it for the DLC. If you can only afford one of them, get The Heist (the Black Cat one).

Woot! The first Ni No Kuni is heading to PS4.

I hear this Dauntless thing is pretty good. Anyone else?

Do you like very long boss fights where you spam attacks and the boss doesn't display a health bar? As the entirety of the game?

Do you like to kill motherf*cking dinosaurs* without having to watch a bunch of YouTube tutorials and then spend two hours gathering herbs first?

(I just dinged level 50 on my Dauntless hunt pass.)

* And giant killer beavers.

I am intrigued! Friend me up!

I'm happy for everyone enjoying Dauntless. I installed it but I'll never log in after watching someone else play.

Is it me or the CTR remake is frikken hard?

I'm only at world 3 right now due to the difficulty of it, I haven't figured out a way to drop it from medium to easy but from what I read easy is too easy and medium is very challenging, while hard is almost impossible.

I'm honestly bit disappointed in it, controls are not as tight as I was hoping, not big fan of the drift mechanics, powerups don't feel as satisfying to use as they do in Mario Kart. I would say wait for a sale.

Yeah I've heard some of your complaints about it around some other websites, I'll just give it a miss I think. The Switch version is supposed to be really poor too.

You play Team Sonic Racing? I was a little tempted by it because Sonic & All Stars Transformed was great but this one got decent-good reviews which wasn't quite enough for me to putchase it.

There's complaints that it's too easy due to the team mechanic, but my pal Steve plays it with his kids and it seems like the team element makes it a far more friendly experience for them than Mario Kart 8. The boys are 7 and 5, and the 5 year-old in particular doesn't have the motor function of his older sibling. So the team function allows him to feel like he's contributing and winning rather than a loser.

They're talking about CTR being too easy.

I can't wait to get my hands on Sonic, the team aspect sounds like a good spin. Shame they went all Sonic characters, but oh well.

I took a gamble on Seven: Enhanced Edition due to the trailer looking impressive, and somewhat intriguing. So far it is okay. The stealth mechanics are good. World traversal is good. Combat is merely serviceable. The story whilst moderately interesting lacks momentum. I have yet to figure out the skills/upgrade systems which are both scattered across the map, and implemented poorly, at least thus far. When adhering to stealth traversal, and disguise, it is good, but so plodding slow. Drawing attention brings unpleasant chaos (as oppose to awesome threat assessment under pressure with fantastic tools) which is difficult to manage. I've shelved it already. I'll return when I'm feeling more strictly stealthy.

CTR is too easy on easy difficulty and too hard on medium, its like they forgot the "just right" difficulty

I will probably try Sonic if I can get it on a good sale.

July's Playstation Plus games are

  • Pro Evolution Soccer 2019
  • Horizon Chase Turbo

I'll definitely be firing up PES 2019!

They are not bad games but Sony doesn't seem to be really trying with their selection compared to Microsoft.

I would say they're not even trying compared to their own previous selections. We've had far, far better games delivered in the past.

Microsoft really isn't really blazing any trails ether. I guess it all depends on your taste...

If you're just comparing Games with Gold to PS+ freebies, then yeah, Microsoft doesn't come out ahead.

But since Microsoft just let anyone convert the duration of their Gold subscription to Game Pass Ultimate for $1, I suspect that is what Sony is going to get measured against, fairly or unfairly. And Game Pass runs circles around anything Sony has.

I've had PS+, without lapse, since the PS3 days, but at this point I'm finally considering not re-upping. I don't play multiplayer games, so that part has never been a factor for me, but the drop in both quality and quantity of PS+ free games has been drastic in the last year.

The one thing I'll miss is the comfort of knowing my saves are backed up online (really came in handy when my original PS3 died shortly before I finished the main quest, 150+ hours in, on Skyrim); if they offered that as an a la carte service I'd definitely consider paying for it. But the rest of PS+ has become pretty worthless for me; I keep a wish list of games I'd be interested in at a discount, and check that whenever there's sales on, so I'll still manage to get plenty of discounts without PS+ membership.

Yeah I might focus on finishing some old PS+ games the rest of this year so quitting is an option

I'm probably not renewing after this year. I probably won't even bother claiming this month's games.

I'll claim them, as a reflex, but I have no interest in playing either of them. Looking back over all free PS+ games released in 2019 so far, the handful that I actually have any interest in I already bought long ago.

I was thinking of quitting this year, but it was so cheap during the E3 sale that I just re-upped for another 12 months. For me, it's worth it for the occasional surprise (like Edith Finch) that I didn't know I wanted.

Ha funny thing is so many of y'all are coming to the conclusion it's not worth it *this* month, whereas for me it's Pro Evo that's made it worth the price of admission for another year of ps+.

I literally have it on my wishlist at the moment.

I haven't played a soccer game since International Superstar Soccer on the N64, so I'll probably give it a try. I'm sure not much has changed

I've put some hours into For Honor, Call of Duty, Conan, The Surge, Edith Finch, Borderlands (from that list) and they were all games I didn't have and wouldn't have purchased otherwise. I have to say, while I am disappointed in this month's offering, I think most of you just have too many games

That's a good problem to have, but I can see why you would feel the way you do.
