Path of Exile catch-all

IMO things get much more challenging at red maps. The modifiers get tough as do the monsters. Some of the bosses have unique mechanics. The T16 maps are all very challenging. Regular Atziri is a good goal for most characters starting out. Most builds don't really take off until the mid 80's and the 4th labyrinth completion. If you stop at the first few tiers of maps you're missing the best of the content IMO.

Cool, thanks for all the advice!

Right now, I'm just spinning my level 75 through some maps because I've never done it before. I'll likely switch back to a witch after this and raise another one of those (I know, I know, it's melee season, but meh).

One of the melee guys I’m leveling is using a new (to me, anyway) melee skill that makes him spark up after he hits a target. So it’s a cool combo of Lightning stuff and Physical. I’ve added Herald of Thunder and am just whacking stuff happily.

Love the ability to move around and fight with melee skills, seems much more natural now.

Got my last unlock on combo attack speed quality and finished my 1st foil meta craft tonight

Battle of 4 armies (no mareketh) This unlocks 5 armies but i'm not ready for that yet, need another 20 exalts in gear (2nd foil craft and watchers eye 2 impale stack pride) and a steel ring with a elron mana craft would be nice if i EVER unlock the workbench mod this league.

Lost could of the bosses i killed, spawned at least 5 times, but i'm thinkin maybe 6 or 7. I kill the bosses and rares very fast in 4 army apparently already. I went to last boss with 13 seconds and has 2 seconds remaining after killing him.

I probably have around 1.6 million shaper DPS? Impossible to know for sure how much exactly. Plenty of room to grow to 3mil +

Sexy beast. A night to remember.

For sure. The game was getting old on me till i broke that barrier and finally managed to go beyond mid tier (yellow now days) maps. took me years to do but the game really was harder back then to get there too.

I think harbinger and breach were my frist leagues to reach "end games" and i never killed uber elder till a couple leagues back now (i quit synthesis super early so didn't try last league after getting my first uber kills the league before).

This league should be no problem .... the character is beastmode already with some lucky drops (certinaly not Headhunter/mirror lucky) but kaom's heart, some 70c to 110c items and about 10 pure exalts along with trading up fusings to some exalts has built me a very nice powerhouse this early in league.

Legion keeps droppin those exalts too, dropped another tonight. A character that can farm legion is a really fun character to have this league and while isn't the best at it by any means, it's very good and can really get around and kill alot of the legion spawns and nuke the bosses are rares super fast when he touches them.

The changes to boss map dropping have REALLY improved the mapping capabilities of a middle of the road player imho. Lot more maps dropping with such high odds of them chaining into new maps is a great thing for the 99% who aren't streamer/super reddit no lifers Still filling my atlas! but it's been easier going for sure!

That's crazy! I'm still excited about going from 800 to 13k, but i'm only 72.

The tooltip dps in my hideout is around 200k.l with auras on, give or tak deping on blood or sand stance. 200k avg.

100k+ tooltip is super easy to get with this build on way under exalt budget, just 2c uniques Nd some resist gear, 5link. 200k is more expensive. Beyond 200k It will require some luck in drops.

I used path of building to calculate shaper dps (real dps in combat vs shaper or guadian level bosses) but cant deal impale far as i know which is whwre th guesswork comes in.

Iphone

So what's the trick to doing 6 links and 4 or more colors without delving till you find them?

I tried looking up videos but so far they just talk about league starting and new pieces. I have some very good uniques that i want to use or know they'll sell for double if they end up with right color combo and links.

There’s no real trick to 6 link. I buy mine usually. Bronne’s lithe about 4 exalt, belly of the beast about 5 exalt. White astral plate a lot cheaper, craft yourself with fossils.

I wouldn’t try to 6l a unique myself, personally for me I’m super unlucky with it.

Quality of the item drastically helps odds on linking so using perfect fossils to get to 29/30% and then adding a hybrid quality craft makes way easier to 6l a white or rare but again I recommend just buying one and selling your fusings to the gamblers or meta players who think they are God’s at linking.

The first couple leagues I ever owned a 6 link they were astral plates I crafted on myself, nothin wrong with that.

6 link used to be way more rare than now. In fact it used to be considered real bad for. To post a build guide on the forums that used 6 linked gems because it was for the super rich only. It was like having a headhunter is now. For the super elite.

Anecdotally I've used over 6000 fusings in my POE career trying to 6-link and have yet to make it happen.

How exactly do the Incubator gems work?

You just right click and apply to any of your equipped gear as you would one of the currency items and after killing X amount of enemies the incubator will expire and drop whatever loot it's holding. The loot drops at the location of the last mob you killed rather than at your feet so if you aren't expecting it to hatch it will often look like any other loot, aside from it's rarity. The completion meter will show at the bottom of the tooltip for the affected gear.
Be careful when applying incubators if you already have one equipped because each gear piece can only hold one at a time and a new one will overwrite others without any notification.

So that's kind of end-game stuff, not really for leveling gear...?

You start getting them around level 4 or so. By level 10 i had a Tabula Rasa from one. Just have to keep an eye out for the incubator icon when popping a legion monolith.

I just use them as they drop. They’re coming enough that I always have one or two cooking.

Guys, i said i'd need some luck to upgrade now...

It's been a while since i fought shaper so i had totally forgot all the mechanics and wasted my vaal skills every time and almost ripped on phase 2, but i recorded phases 2 and 3 and boy was that fast dps.

And that luck...yea...now i have currency. Sold the starforge that dropped for 9.4 ex, was a very good but not max roll

edit: couple Upgrades installed, impale calculated with a google docs sheet, over 3 million shaper dps achieved, for by far the first time in my poe career

Congratulations! The luck slug certainly slithered around your shoulders last night!

That's awesome dps.

I think I've pretty much peaked as a self found at about 30k dps (once my rage charges build). I'm currently running maps to see if I can find the rest of the ascension nodes for the final two ascension points, and then I might try my hand at trading to get my Cyclone maxed out. I'm still having fun building this first character, so I suppose I'll stick with that for a bit longer. Also, I'm getting distracted with Battletech. It fits my schedule better too, so it's hard to resist.

Also, maps with the physical damage returned mod are super hard.

You shouldn’t even try maps with reflected damage of your type unless you’ve mitigated it somehow. Re-roll the map or sell it.

I have reflect physical completely mitigated from a slayer node.

Ah, that's smart. I didn't know that existed.

And I didn't notice the reflected damage until I'd already started the map. It was a rare and it was buried in the middle. I must have read right past it. That's a mistake I won't likely make again.

I have elemental spectres which can be a pain to get due to having to summon in a high level map. I've melted them 3 times in a week by not paying attention to elemental reflect hehe.

EDIT

I just downloaded Path of Building. Wow. All this time I've been guessing at whether an item is better or worse in a slot. The item comparing tool is incredible.

Homard, dunno what tier of maps you are frequenting but I can poop down a t15 or -6 any time now. Just msg me.

You can buy t15s for 4-5 chaos now.

Bought 5 shaped volcano and summit t15s last night to help jump start my 15/16 map pool for shaper elder runs.

Thanks for the offer Fuzzball. I've bought a bunch of Oba's Cursed Trove maps at around 2C each. The final level of that map is level 84. Tied with the Shaper as the highest level content in the game. It's great for summoning spectres and the loots are usually worth the effort.

I think I'm going to try the Shaper this league for the first time. It looks like I'm at around 600K DPS. T15 bosses go down in about 2 seconds. If the Guardians go well the shaper will be worth a try I think. The only downside of this build is if you lose a spectre mid-fight you've pretty much had it. Traps and those red cloud casters in the Legion content drive me nuts.

You should be able to do it, management of specters is key. Zombies will smush fast.

Teleport yer specters out of the big damage, just moving self and specters out of slam and beam and into shield when that happens.

I was able to do shapers on my last summoner not too painfully at all. Uber elder not so much though. I’d get to p4 and wipe out. It’s possible to do though, I just wasn’t good at it and gave up after 4 fragment sets.

The Minotaur has 12,472,300 hp. Use to gauge your real world shaper FPS. Use windows 10 game game bar to save last seconds to video file after kill and then timer it.

Real world < spreadsheet but killing in few seconds = god tier dps

I’ll post my Minotaur and Phoenix video dps tests from last night tonight.

I've done red tier elder with this guy and the null portals melt away. I just got silly luck and hit a 30% flame dash cooldown on a bone hat I crafted. The hat is nothing special, but with the flame dash it makes me much quicker in boss fights. From what I've read it seems like if you can do a corrupted minotaur map, the shaper isn't out of the realm of possibility.

If you get there, to shaper, or uber elder, and can't do it,but want it done, feel free to hit me up, i'll do it for ya.

So I'm following Enki's Arc Witch build, and it's very interesting. I never thought of putting a triggering gem with *several* other gems; that's an interesting trick and creates a cool dynamic where, as I'm hit more, the damage I do ramps up massively. I'm learning a lot from figuring out how the author put the build together, and i'm just loving the damage I can lay out in mob situations.
