Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor – Martyr (Catch All)

So excited. Just reinstalled the game. I forget, is there gonna be a wipe, or are our characters converted to 2.0?

I am pretty sure converted.

Ooooh, I have time to jump back into this. I'll reinstall and give it a whirl tonight.

So the game feels so much better. Smoother, faster, more fluid. Accessing inventory in-mission is great, as is the more straightforward leveling system. I also enjoy that tarot cards are used for regular missions. This makes lower-level/grey missions more viable now. I did run into some graphical glitches but nothing too serious. I'd, so far, call 2.0 a win.

That's good news. I'm looking forward to playing today evening. I'm going to start from scratch.

I tried a level 5 character, and agree with Brian/Veloxi - Only, after one mission on a planet, where I needed to close down the last Mortar, I was suddenly stuck at a bunker type thing, unable to move. So, 20 minutes gameplay down the drain, and I have to redo the entire mission.

Not the best start!

Yup! I'm looking forward to giving this a shot with a whole new character. The movement speed and animations were a major problem for me in its first iteration.

Played through the tutorial missions with a melee crusader. Definitely moves a lot faster, weapons have a better impact on enemies, and more and smoother animations. I'm still not too big a fan of the cover mechanic and the skill tree not getting an overhaul is underwhelming.

Already ran into a few bugs but they've all been visual. The tutorial ship menu was also extremely sluggish despite the rest of the game being very smooth.

I'll give the path a thumbs up. The new gameplay is smooth as butter for me. Switching between melee and range is not a chore. In mission inventory access is very nice. The game plays like an ARPG now. Definitely an improvement. Hopefully this will give the game some legs and I am looking forward to the expansion next month. There are some graphical bugs and I cant get my tech priest to change my armor appearance. I have the option - the changes just arent showing so hopefully that will work itself out. Overall - definite improvement to the game. Also you level much faster in the early stages.

While I like the rest of you folks, this guy right here put a bazillion hours into the game and the highlighted sentence means I'm gonna go back to the game now and put in some serious effort.

The nerve...

I started playing my crusader again who'd stalled out around level 30 because I could run a dozen missions and not level up. Last night I ran 3 missions and levelled up twice. I feel like I'm making progress again. I also like the tarot giving you some control over what kind of bonuses you want on your random missions rather than the old system that basically just increased all rewards and increased all enemy difficulty. I also already found a relic weapon while I'd only found 1 in the prior dozens upon dozens of hours of playing. I'm optimistic that this will now be one of those games I can just play for an hour or two here and there and feel like I'm moving forward rather than having to grind for days for next to no reward. I did experience a lot of graphical glitches last night where most of the enemies I killed would just remain standing but were no longer moving or targetable. I'm assuming they'll address these kinds of things in the next patch or two.

and

Yup, the still standing bug is the number one thing I've experienced. I suspect you might be able to eliminate it by dialing down persistent enemy bodies to zero but I haven't tried. I like the statues as a monument to my badassery. As your Space Marine on the ship says, give them what they deserve, give them more death. I bet he'd be fun at parties.

The game feels a lot better now. But, at this point, I'm kind of tempted to just wait for the tech adept expansion.

I tend to bounce off of ARPGs that don't include good summoner classes.

I reported the still standing bug too. Their discord has been very active with bug reports, and they're about to deploy a patch.

I am definitely going to fire it back up. Can't wait to put it through its paces. If the summoner class is anything like the one in Van Helsing, I am all in

Really having loads of fun with the game, better all the way around. Im playing on hard which seems to be the sweet spot for leveling - Im sure I could go higher, but I enjoy the laying waste to everything aspect. The Grav gun is my favorite weapon and seems to be a great all around purger of heretics. For those who havent played much - I highly recommend putting your points into the health and defense trees. Damage is pretty easy to come by, but the health, suppression, and resists are not. Later focus on a damage tree. I prefer physical because I like to swap between my grav gun and my chain sword and board. Dont forget to craft where you can - that will help keep you in decent leveling gear.

My crusader dumped all the initial points in hp & regen so now he regens on his own so well I rarely have to use a healthpack. Weapons wise I finally settled on the heavy flamer and melta gun. Heat damage and dot's are my focus. At this point I feel like if I went with any other weapons I'd have to redo all my points. Early on I loved the auto rifle, it just felt so good, but once I began following the way of the flame... it's just who my guy is now.

Lasgun is a lot of fun!
But it is hard to move on from a purple autorifle that just chews things up.

Wow, this game is *really* different now. Actually playable, with lots of info and intros to the systems. I understand it far more, which removes the frustration, and it plays more quickly in the tutorial, too. Very nice update for a beginner.

Yeah a good purple or orange can last a long time. I had one I got at level 10 that I used until level 30. Another recommendation to build credits is sell blues, greens, and Commons but salvage purples you don't plan on using.

Is Quality the main element in deciding whether something is good? I mean, beyond the obvious number of bonuses it has.

That's how I feel about my grav gun (the ghostbuster gun) and chain sword. They just work for me.

Yes, but look at the numbers and see if it works for your build. A piece of gear might be better because it gives you a few more hit points and a +% in Heat damage, but you are a phys damage build. You dont need to swap it. In the new game you can have gear that's 10+ levels lower then you and it still be viable - I have oranges that were lower than that but were still useful. Your weapons and your armor are where you typically want to be within 5-10 levels. For the first 30 levels you should be filling in the health and defense trees so weapon type shouldnt matter so you can just pick up whatever is best you find. Youll level so fast, especially on normal and hard that you wont realize youve outpaced your gear in some cases. Leveling starts to slow around 30-35, but even in the 40s Im leveling once every 2-3 missions it seems like.

Health and Defense, huh? I started with Sniper on my Sniper lol. But then, first character, just exploring the system.

Thanks for confirming the feeling I was getting about Quality and item attributes. That makes sense.

Yeah health and defense is definitely worth the investment. The damage trees are pretty underwhelming unless you are a status effect build which is still kind of eh. I always go that route and then fill in my damage theme. The support tree isn't bad if you use your number 4 power a lot. I usually save that to combine with a psychlon health injector +200%, sometimes two, buff to one shot the bosses.

Damn guys, really tempted to re-install this thing. Still a major setback for me is that I had to play on Low Detail and the performance was still mediocre at best. I'm reading there is some optimization with the new update but I'm not quite convinced it's enough.

It runs better now. When it first came out, it caused my computer's fans to rev up a lot and performance still isn't great. Now, it seems better optimized.

My computer is about 5-6 years old and I need to start thinking about a new build...

Apparently, I've put in nearly 7 hours since 2.0 launched. This game just feels so much better now. Leveling is a lot more fun, as is combat, and I'm loving the side missions even more now. I even found some sort of side campaign featuring some Dark Eldar. SO FUN.

The Drukhari quest line is a lot of fun. I've mainlined the game since 2.0 with a new character up to level 53. Hard remains the sweet point for me so the game never feels like a slog. I like everything the patch has done, but it seems like the loot quality has been dialed back some. Only had a couple of orange drops so I suspect the tarot missions are where you have to go for those. I still absolutely loathe the driving missions but they are few and far between. I'm going to finish the campaign and side missions and try a psyker as I bounced hard off of them in the original. Looking forward to prophecy next month.
