I do play Enderal - I was more thinking of some of the big overhauls that are fun, but there are quite a few of them, and was looking for someone with experience in them!

Fallout I have played as well, quite a bit :-)

Razgon you might have more luck browsing the mods thread, since you're not giving a lot of direction as to what you're looking for.

Thanks ! Thats some thread I´ll go have a looksee !

BethINI might help. Plus it's useful to get better optimized presets for performance.

Wow -- that does make a difference!

I wasn't exactly planning to get back into Skyrim, but between the frame rate boost from BethINI and SKSE being out for Special Edition now...

So I fired this up again last night realizing that I don't remember ever playing an Imperial in Skyrim or siding with the Empire ever before. Got as far as killing the dragon outside of Whiterun before hoofing it towards Solitude and boy am I glad the Graybeards don't keep yelling "Dovahkiin" until you show up.

"I think that mountain's saying something to you."

"No it's not."

On the other hand.. how fun would it be if they did that every couple minutes of real-time until you finally stop collecting cheese long enough to go say hi

And while Christopher Plummer isn't constantly yelling at me to go to High Hrothgar, the Dawnguard DLC's escalating its pestering of me to start it. First, it was a random pair of vampires on the road. Next, it was a few NPCs in Solitude discussing joining the Dawnguard. Finally, it's a dude from Dawnguard walking up to me and initiating a dialogue with "You must join the Dawnguard!"

The vampire attacks on cities and potential loss of merchants are the most annoying part of Dawnguard. I think they stop once you do actually start the questline, or get a certain amount into it. I did actually like Dawnguard overall, but it worked better on release when you'd already played for a bunch of hours and the new content was something you sought out right away. Having it integrated near the beginning is awkward and frustrating.

You can get around that by not fast traveling and arriving at night or a mod. I decided to not fast travel in general to appreciate the environment and actually learn where things are in the world.

I’m thinking about finally beating Skyrim. I haven’t played in a year but my mage leveled up to the point where I can cast infinite destruction spells so I don’t think the boss fight will be hard.

IS THERE a boss fight to win the game?

Yes, in terms of completing the main quest. but it doesn't exactly make the credits roll.

It's also not a hard fight even without being superpowered.

Yeah, you have to fight Alduin, as I recall.

Keep in mind that, unless you're playing with mods, destruction spells don't scale their damage, so higher-level enemies are likely to be pretty damage-spongey if you're relying on spells for your offense.

Playing on Switch. No mods. But I can never run out of damage spells Witt the uber armor I crafted so eventually I can ware them down.

Cause I'm a huge Skyrim fan and a huge Lindsey Stirling fan!

Folks, I have a problem. I have games I want to be playing on my Switch but I keep playing vanilla Skyrim. I haven't played Skyrim much since I sunk 80 hours or so in it back on launch. I dabbled in mods here or there for a while, but never got particularly far.

Now, here I am in 20 flippin 20 playing a then-AAA game from a decade ago in my bed. And I'm thoroughly enjoying it, warts and all.

I don't understand why I find sneaking, stealing and critical hits in Bethesda games is so satisfying across all their titles. You know, it's not particularly good. I do wish I was playing ESO on Switch, but I'm settling for Skyrim instead.

I haven't played in a while but I LOVE playing vanilla Skyrim on my Switch! You absolutely cannot beat a portable Skyrim...no mods can even come close to competing with portable Skyrim! And the vanilla version is still pretty fantastic in all the best ways.

Eh do what’s fun for you. I should be leveling my Elder Scrolls Online character to get ready for their summer “return to Skyrim” expansion, but I’m playing Skyrim too.

Huge fan of Skyrim. Never tried ESO? Any strong reason to?

For me ESO just made me want to play Skyrim again.

Skyrim just makes me want to play ESO.

Tried a free weekend of ESO and it felt more like a MMO than it did like Skyrim. The theme is there but the mechanics are definitely an MMO.

As a huge Skyrim fan I tried to get into ESO. Never played an MMO before but everyone seem to say ESO was single player worthy. But I just couldn't accept being the "chosen one" who seems to queue up to quest givers with other chosen ones while a few other chosen ones run around and jump off walls around me. The land seemed schizophrenic, the AI population moved at a normal pace and stood around in huddled groups while the human population zipped and zapped around like maniacs. And coming from a heavily modded Skyrim, ESO character models and graphics were too simple for my tastes.

It is a pity because I can see the time, effort and money that they have put into ESO. Cant help but feel a little down that they didn't put it into TES 6. But that is capitalism.

ESO gets a lot better once you get out of the base game and into the expansions. The story telling and quest structure improve immensely. There's a reason new characters start in whatever the current expansion is, rather than the original base game.

But at the end of the day it's not like Skyrim, or Oblivion, or Morrowind. It's its own thing, and I enjoyed it quite a bit.

TES games are my GOAT but I hate MMO's that force interaction, it's not for me.

However I had a go at ESO solo and found it largely fine. The central hubs are full of people jumping around but you can get in an out quickly and get through the missions fine. I liked the main quest but actually bought it for Morrowind and loved exploring that island again. I've got the next DLC and may jump back in again this year and get through the enxt couple of DLC's, it's a lovely world.

Some dungeons cannot be done on your own so I avoided them, plenty of battles around in any case. So if you are a TES fan then it's worth a go.

in my opinion it really depends on what you are looking for. ESO is an MMO dressed up to look like Elder Scrolls, NOT an elder elder scrolls game with mmo trapping attached. If you go in with proper expectations it is a really enjoyable MMO. Honestly I think it only had trouble initially because their pre-launch marketing campaign was entirely "Check out this sweet new Elder Scrolls game that happens to be multiplayer" and that set up the wrong expectations for the initial group of players and caused them to bounce off.

Not just that, but it is a Free to Play MMO and all that entails with multiple currencies systems and design decisions.

It's not free-to-play, but it does offer in-game purchases.

I'm really enjoying ESO but then again I'm an MMO fan. That being said, it has a bit of a Skyrim feel in terms of combat and the world and lore is spot on. The group content is also a lot of fun and easy to get into. But once again, it's whether or not you love MMOs or not. They have free weekends every few months so would be worth checking out.

Also, the new upcoming expansion is set in Skyrim with an emphasis on the vampire threat. So if you're a Skyrim fan who wanted to check it out this would be a good time.

Thanks Jdzappa. I’ll look for a free Skyrim weekend.

Is there a GWJ Guild for ESO? Or even a thread?
