E3 2019 Predictions & Wishes

I still really want to play Darksiders 3. I'm just not really wanting to play Darksiders 3 for $60. Once that comes down in price, and I've got a hot minute to spare, I'll gladly give it a go. One thing I really appreciate about that franchise is that it never sits still. I would be disappointed, honestly, if Darksiders 4 used the same template as any of the three previous games.

D3 was a bit of a letdown from all I've heard.

LOVED D1. Appreciated D2 in spite of shifting from Zelda clone to a Looter clone.

D4 would need to be some sort of a creative reimagining to spark my interest.

I've heard pretty mixed things about Darksiders 3, but I'm happy to play it just to see what happens when Darksiders does Dark Souls.

Darksiders 3 was not good

Neither were the other two.

All I want is updates on Cyberpunk, Evil Genius 2, and hopefully a Baldur's Gate 3 reveal. Anything else is gravy.

Already done..

Splinter Ceeeeeell! Although Ghost Recon: Break Point has taken some of the urgency out of my need for a new Splinter Cell game. It looks like it might scratch a similar itch.

This is me as well. I loved the first game. Couldn't stay interested in the second game very long despite buying it twice and trying to play it thrice. They have always said they wanted to do a 4 player co-op game. I would imagine the fourth game would either be that or another single player game to introduce the last horseman Strife. I actually think it would be kind of cool if they did something very different with this like a side scrolling Metroidvania type game or maybe a stealth action game.

Give me that sweet sweet Cyberpunk news. Footage anything!!!!

also...outerworlds update be great too.

and im with Jeff .....NHL 20!!! Devils got to make a cup run virtually!!!

Square Enix put out a teaser for a game called Outriders, which got trademarked last summer in Europe.

Hope springs eternal that this is the project they're working on with People Can Fly and not bound to be another debacle like The Quiet Man. Or Left Alive, for that matter.

2019 could be a positive showing for Square Enix this E3, or it could be another mess. Still hoping for more Babylon's Fall info, so between that, Outriders, and Marvel's Avengers, they've already got plenty of new gameplay to show.

THQ Nordic's gonna be making announcements over the next three days. My money's on a Darksiders RTS spin-off that takes place during the apocalypse. Control the forces of Heaven or the Legions of Hell! RAWR!

Spoiler:

I'm not actually serious about this.

The spreadsheet of presentation times should be finalized.

I'm more tempted to believe its them announcing that, having learned their lesson after last time, their next AMA will be on 4chan instead

Their first announcement was a remaster/remake of a Spongebob game that evidently has a whole generation of people that aren't me excited.

So I dunno what to even predict at this point.

So Amazon apparently already leaked that, yes, there's a new Darksiders game coming out. It's called Darksiders Genesis, an isometric shooter where you control Strife, the Horseman of guns. I was wondering if that's the route they'd go, and also explains why there'd be another Darksiders so soon after 3 shipped.

Nintendo, in the meantime, has announced some of the games playable at E3. Pokemon Sword/Shield and Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 are no surprise, as is Link's Awakening, but it also highlights Luigi's Mansion 3, which we'd only seen a teaser of up until now.

So I guess it's obvious now that Luigi's Mansion 3 is not only a highlight of their E3, but definitely releasing in 2019.

Also of note on that image: Treehouse regularly streams a whole slew of their titles, and is one of the reasons I look forward to E3 each year. But Thursday is going to be dedicated to Indies, it looks like, which I think is a nice touch to do during E3, where even the biggest AAA games can get buried under news and announcements.

Brilliant!

I'm optimistic, but I want to hold off on my enthusiasm until it's confirmed and not Divinity Original Sin 3 (not that there's anything wrong with that either)

I thought mindflayers were born or hatched, not converted.

Glad I'm not the only one.

USGamer has a list of games/studios that won't be at E3.

Basically: Rocksteady's new game will remain an enigma, no Elder Scrolls 6 or Starfield (though I could have sworn I saw a Todd Howard hint the latter would be there somewhere), no Beyond Good & Evil 2, no Need For Speed 2019, and no Skull & Bones.

They are born as tadpoles, which are implanted in humanoids and mature inside them, and then transform those humanoids into Mindflayers and replace their pathetic human brains with superior illithid brains

Three random guesses and/or vain hopes from Microsoft's press conference:

  • Ori and the Will of the Wisps available this weekend or the very, very near future. It's been listed for a Spring 2019 release, and they're rapidly running out of spring.
  • The Outer Worlds launching day one on Xbox Game Pass. While The Outer Worlds is not a Microsoft-published game, Obsidian is now a Microsoft-owned studio. The game is getting a multiplatform launch, but Microsoft could see value in making it most attractive on Xbox One (and possibly the Windows Store) via Game Pass.
  • Similarly, Wasteland 3 launching day one on Xbox Game Pass. The thinking here is similar to The Outer Worlds: inXile is now a first-party studio, and while the game is due out on other platforms, Microsoft could try to make the Xbox and Windows Store the most attractive way to get a copy.

Phil Spencer has promised 14 games from Xbox Game Studios and its subsidiaries at E3. Taking into account the ones we know about (Ori and the Will of the Wisps; Halo Infinite; Gear 5; Gears Tactics; Gears Pop!; Battletoads) that's still eight or so games we don't know about. (There's a possibility for updates for existing games, like new content for Sea of Thieves, to count toward that total, but we'll see.)

Apparently some art and a press release for Elden Ring leaked today; that's the rumored collabo between Hidetaka Miyazaki (From Software, makers of Dark Souls) and George RR Martin. It's supposed to be a fantasy action/adventure game with their largest world yet.

This seems like such an unlikely but tasty team-up; I really want to hear how it came about!

Three of Bandai Namco's announcements have leaked:

The above collab game
A re-release I wasn't expecting yet
An eventuality game

The last one will be obvious once formally announced. It was always bound to be in the works.

YES YES YES!!

I really, really hope Bethesda has some surprise announcements regarding either Elder Scrolls or their scifi game whose name escapes me right now!

ES6 is after Starfield. It's a long, long ways off.

If they don't show/say anything about Starfield I'll be surprised. Most of the focus will likely be Doom Eternal, ESO, F76 and the upcoming Wolfenstein game. The only surprises I expect will be from their non-Bethesda Games Studio devs and not Starfield/ES. Arkane's next game will possibly be talked about.
