The co-op stuff has matchmaking now.

I'm still playing (PC), mostly to unlock the weekly content. And yes, people don't usually play objectives (assignments and progression doesn't help) but is still fun to play and servers are full most of the time.

Agreed, I am not a big fan of the weekly assignments to unlock stuff. Forces me to play modes, weapons etc I do not normally like to play.

And that's why they do it, "we spent so much effort putting in mode X that was designer Z's pet idea even though QA hated it, you'll play it and like it dammit"

Brilliant isn’t it?

A new map is releasing in a few weeks and more in production which will help with variety of locations.

Coop seems fun. I've only done up to medium difficulty. Not sure how I'll fare in real MP. FPS games these days really require you to know the maps to do well and I'm pretty late to the game.

Tried to do co-op matchmaking. Haven't found a single soul that plays it.

Has to be a time of day thing. I was going between team of 4 and team of 2. We kind of got screwed at one point because we could not take out an armored vehicle because one of us was recon and the other support. Now I will not start a match unless at least one person is assault.

I've been meaning to dive back in for the new map. Play on the PS4 on the West Coast.

Holy sh*t, the pacific theatre? That implies a lot of new... everything.

wake island

The new map is great. I've been playing it a bunch lately to earn the knife.

Agreed, been playing it a ton too. The large height variance makes a lot of sneaking up and down valleys between objectives possible. I enjoy it most playing it on Breakthrough.

The new maps also look great. Particularly excited about a Pacific theatre map, for that old school BF1942 flava.

Things are looking good for the future of the game.

There is a new game in Steam Early Access called Hell Let Loose that may interest those of us who really enjoy the Battlefield type games, but with a little more realism and complexity. If you like the TBS games might be worth checking out.

It was a buggy mess in alpha, bit did look good.

Was pretty good today - a few quirks like comms cutting out, but nothing too bad. I wish more folks played it as a squad. Good squads really shine.

I'm definitely back to take in the Metro remake whenever that happens.

Metro is the best map ever created for a team based FPS. I could play that map over all day every day. I think I unlocked a majority of achievements there too.

I would take Strike at Karkand any day over Metro and it's linear design If they add more ways to flank etc, it would make it a lot more interesting.

I've spent many a BF4 days running shotgun in metro. But I also agree that I'd love for more flanking routes.

I never understood the appeal of Metro. It always felt like such a slog/meat grinder. I mean I guess it is good for picking up multikills and leveling up guns, but it never felt like a Battlefield map to me.

I never liked Metro. Great for grenade spam as support. It was the same as the prison map in BF4- locker?

It seems to be a thing in all multiplayer games: the smaller and more condensed the action points the more popular the map.

Yeah never a big fan of it either and I wish Dice didn’t cater to maps like that. If anything I wish they downsized a current map to a mode like squad conquest, frontlines etc and leave the larger sprawling maps with less linear paths.

Argonne forest in BF1 for example. I was looking forward to that map but at release it was very linear.

Apparently the new metro style one is not an exact duplicate of it so I really hope it has a lot of flanking opportunities and not just one wide tunnel and 2 smaller ones in each side.

I just checked my in-game stats and apparently I have won 143 rounds, lost 143 rounds and have had 3 draws. I thinks it's pretty safe to say that my presence on the Battlefield makes absolutely no difference to either side

I love you, I love you not record

Maybe you were instrumental in those draws?

Been watching a lot of BF5 vids to see if I should jump in. Decided to install BF4 again and played for a bit. Got absolutely destroyed.... don't think my twitch reflexes are quite what they used to be!

For all the scale that Battlefield has there are still a lot of situations where twitching is required but there is definitely scope to play another way.

BFV is still my default game.

Metro is out and it's pretty much as you remember it. Which will be a good thing for some and a bad thing for others.

The great thing about BF is that you can easily find a completely different experience in the other maps. Adding some Metro flavor is great for keeping BF fresh.

It's an overall much improved map than the original Metro! Many more flanking points!
