Blizzard's Overwatch Catch-All

I'm still amazed how well that flank worked. We completely avoided the Bastion this way.

Granted, those guys put up a hell of a fight after that, but capping this first point so fast felt good.

Another Sym flank today catching them off guard, end up taking point A in under a minute. Point B was harder to crack but we eventually did it with some time to spare.

That was another one that worked waaaay better than I expected. I like it when opposing teams don't expect the Sym.

Overwatch League has released some alternative 3rd jerseys for some teams. With teams playing more games in their home cities they've made an effort to add references to the cities they'll be representing.

NYXL's new jersey showcasing Manhattan's skyline. If I have extra cash to burn I'd genuinely consider picking this one up.

Rumours that Florida will rebrand themselves around the 80's aesthetic of Miami Vice show in their alt jerseys.

Toronto Defiant trying to "Rep the 6ix". Drake nicknamed the Toronto the "6ix" a while ago and I guess it stuck? I applaud their attempt to make more of a connection to the city, but this jersey looks terrible.

Just want to say I always enjoy your league updates Axel.

Why would the Fusion want Philadelphians to boo their team?

I was going with Juventus, but that works too.

Was great fun getting to play with some of you guys yesterday. Need to stay up late more often!

Great to see you yesterday!

Here's the video about the team Clockwork Vendetta i was mentioning yesterday.

The story of Clockwork Vendetta who run a bunker comp in a GOATS heavy meta managing to climb their way up to EU Contenders league. Even on attack they'll use their comp to very slowly and carefully turtle forward. What's crazy is that back in Open Division the teams manager said they didn't have a coach and didn't scrim, they just comp to get where they are now, it will be really interesting how they'll do in a higher tier of play.

I suggest you guys take a look at Akshon's other videos. They're based out of Vancouver and my friend got a job there recently and they do some really high quality stuff.

Our super trickle hold win on Junker thanks to a C9 Mcree Ult...

With the end of the event, and I think the general decline of the overall Overwatch population in general, it has been more and more difficult to find "even" matches. It seems a lot more like we're either rolling the other team, or getting rolled ourselves. There seem to be less "for fun" 6 stacks floating around QP around our skill level, where we can play several matches with them each winning a game or two, and having everything be close.

I'll admit to having less fun the more we get into "try-hard" mode, yet at the same time it feels that unless we do, we're just doomed to not having a chance against many of the teams we get matched up with, and that's not fun either.

We all want to play this game for different reasons, I just want to shoot sh*t and hang out with my friends. So have been playing a bit more arcade, where things seem to be even less serious.

Last night a few of us ended up just screwing around in custom matches, and it was some of the most fun I've had in the game for a long time. We had been playing around in Mystery heroes calling ourselves "Team Chill" just going to shoot stuff and not worry about the consequences. Eventually we became a 6 stack, and 6 stacks just don't work in Mystery Heroes.

So after a few QP games against teams that were decidedly un-chill, we ended up taking the name literally and made a custom game, where our "Team Chill" played as 6 Mei's against 6 Hard Roadhogs. It was total chaos trying to wall off individual Hogs to isolate them so we could kill them before they could heal. It was frantic, it was chaotic, it was stupid, and we all laughed all the way through it.

We repeated with a couple other compositions, 6 Soldiers (very effective, and we had a lot of fun emoting after a team kill) 6 Syms (not so effective, though with better coordination we could have probably made it work) 6 Sambra's (nope) 6 Torbs (let's make a wall of turrets and just stand behind them and heal them and watch the pigs die)

Like I said, it was dumb, but boy was it dumb fun. It was the liveliest I had heard voice coms in a while, and that was just because we were all laughing at how stupid we were being.

It's something I hope we can incorporate into the rotation, as we seem to get into a situation where we lose a couple in a row, and many people call it a night. If after a couple losses, something stupid fun like this was tossed into the rotation, it could keep things lighthearted. Like I said, we all play for different reasons. I know some live for the human competition and don't get the same enjoyment out of stomping on the bots. That's why I don't want to do it too often, but for those random nights where a change of pace is needed. I highly recommend it.

I get it. I enjoy playing with you guys and the time we played that ludicrous game with the 5 hard hogs and one mercy was a pure laugh-fest. But I admit that the loony customs hold little appeal for me overall. I tend to pine for the standard QP experience after a bit. I'll toss in a mystery heroes match here and there if I'm getting too frustrated, but the loonier the match the less I typically continue having "fun".

My fun seems mostly to derive from playing the hero I'm playing well, coordinating well with my team, and getting the better of opponents in that order.

EDIT: I don't often get Sombra POTGs, but when I do I love them. https://www.twitch.tv/videos/438464303. And yes, I have 2 Twitch followers now! I'll be rich before I know it!

You didn't even vote for yourself?

I never vote for myself. Just feels wrong.

Solo queue is an exception and you are allowed to up-vote yourself.

I am pretty much with ColdForged on this. Love the 6 v 6 GWJ games but my favorite times are working together with friends to beat a non-GWJ team. Some days, I am a lot more in the mood for one over the other.

The GWJ vs GWJ games are when I try to play other heroes, unless Erik is running his Doomfist then F that guy and I am going to DVa or Zen.

I lol'ed when the commentator in video just called the Mcree buff just plain disgusting.

I am happy about the Dva change to her matrix. Overall good tweaks this patch.

Oh I cannot wait to finally be able to jump on tonight. I just got a new desktop on Monday (my first time not building it myself) from Alienware and I should be done setting it up tonight (amazing how many programs and logins I have accrued in the past few years). I am looking forward to seeing people on tonight.

My loading issues for the last few months should be a thing of the past. I am so looking forward to this.

Specs for nerds who are curious.

Intel Core i7 8700 (6-Core, 12MB Cache, up to 4.6GHz with Intel Turbo Boost Technology)
2TB PCIe SSD + 2TB 7200RPM HDD
64GB,, DDR4, 2666MHz
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 8GB GDDR6

Nice! If I were you I'd install Overwatch onto the SSD to keep those loading speeds fast... the better to snipe that DPS role you want to roll. Of course, I got rid of all spinning platters on my most recent build.

Oh yeah. All programs are going on the SSD and all personal files are going on the conventional. I have more than enough space for that.

As seen by the progression meter, this is the closest game we've had in a while. Despite being forced to trickle in one at a time, we manage to hold the point. Wayfarer is clearly relieved when we won

I attended my first Overwatch League games today! I'm an infrequent watcher of games at best (there's just so many) but going to the Arena was actually a ton of fun. The energy in the room was delightful, but also incredibly surreal because the production quality was really good all around, but there were maaaaaybe 150 in the audience? It never filled up, and people came and went as different games came on, but my friend and I were there from noon until it was over around 7. I'm glad she was more familiar with the different teams/players so she could explain some of the drama to me.

I never really picked a team until LA Valiant had a booth setup at West Hollywood pride last year, and considering I live in LA it made the pick between the two options quite easy! We expected to suffer a loss but oh man it turned out to be so much more exciting and nerve-wracking

One thing that really stuck out to me more than usual is just how graphically noisy the game is. There were team fights where I could not track what was going on (I had to use the greyed-out icons to figure out who was getting eliminated), and more than once accidentally cheered for the opposing team.

All that being said, we're planning on going to the July 27th games :3

Sounds fun. Maybe next year if the league is still going and I am still interested and they finally play home games in SF area for the Shock. If the crowd is in to it then being there can make it pretty cool. I think this holds true for most events expect NFL.

A playoff game in Lambeau Field in the snow is a pretty special, cool experience (snow, mind you, not -40F windchill).

Episode 2!

Good stuff.

The Ana boost was too true...
