Spider-Man Catch-All

I thought the biggest problem with Spiderman was the design of the game played it far too safe. We had so much run off the mill crimes that were repeated over & over, side missions that were as bland as a lot of the side stuff in Infamous: Second Son & that familiar Arkham style combat with added verticality (it was great but extremely similar), the city was a little bland too.

All that said you still highly polished superhero game with really good traversal, great combat & a good story. I do hope they are much more bold in their design choices with the inevitable sequel.

I hope they put this DLC on sale sometime soon...I loved this game but definitely wasn't ready for more when it first came out. Whenever I can pick up the DLC for $5-10 I'll be sure to do so.

Well, the DLC is on sale for $16.74 right now (with PS Plus). I think a little too steep for me to bite right now, especially with The Division 2 awaiting me when I get home today.

DLC is currently on sale for $16 and change.
I picked it up,but still need to finish the main story.

Thinking I may pick up the dlc too. I’m not done with the main story.however, what a game!

Are any regulars here interested in trading God of War or Spiderman for Red Dead Redemption 2 (Me giving RDR2) on the PS4? If so PM me. Sorry for the duplicate post in the God of War thread.

I'm so sad the main game isn't on sale. grr

Started playing this again yesterday and it is still so good. I'm up to about 68% on the main campaign,

Spoiler:

right after the scene where I got to see the Doc juggle all those tennis balls, and had stealth missions with MJ and Miles,

and I just fought Taskmaster for the first time. I'm kind of surprised that I've been playing this game with as many interruptions as I have, but I have been trying to stay on top of Trails of Cold Steel and Persona 5.

I am having a lot of trouble getting the highest rating on any Taskmaster challenge I've tried. Will I need to get those super high scores to get enough challenge tokens to upgrade my suits?

You'll need to get the highest score on a few challenges if you want to get every suit, but if you don't care about full completion, you can suck it up and get just about everything you'll want to use.

I'd suggest moving on for now and coming back to challenges later if you decide you want more tokens for more suits. You'll be better at the base systems from playing the game, so it'll be easier to get better scores as you go.

That makes sense, and I can also see some of the level up perks and the remaining skills helping with these challenges — with combat, especially.

I just finished up the Grand Central mission. What a great set-piece that was!

Up to 73%! I just finished

Spoiler:

watching Dr. Octavius get his arms, and then learning that *someone* hit the truck carrying Devil’s Breath. The game handles Doc Oc’s slide toward madness so well.

And I am definitely feeling that Devil’s Breath will become the serum that leads to Green Goblin...

Made some more progress over the weekend, and hit 85%. I just wrapped up:

Spoiler:

The mission where Scorpion poisons you and you have to swing around a flooded, toxic Manhattan. Not the hardest, by any stretch, but cool level design. I also really enjoyed the Electro / Vulture fight.

There's not much left to do on the map. I think I have one base left, and then otherwise it's just story missions, cleaning up crimes, and deciding if I want to find all the secret photo-ops.

Great game. I. Waiting for the season pass to go on sale again.

Yeah, I have been done with this game for long enough that I am really itching to get back in, I hope with the upcoming PlayStation store sale the season pass will go on sale...

I'm up to 90%, with nothing left to do but story missions and random crimes (and photo ops). And I am loving the late-game boss fights.

Spoiler:

I finished Rhino and Scorpion. I found this a bit more manageable than the Electro & Vulture fight, but at the same time I was so focused on dodging, and was paying so much attention to the environment, that I missed some of the dialogue.

And I loved the story that was dropped during the next Mary Jane mission

Spoiler:

inside Norman's penthouse apartment.

Those missions aren't always my favorite, but man did this one do a good job laying the groundwork for the relationship between the characters, teasing a villain to come, and

Spoiler:

setting up what I expect to be Miles' super-hero transformation.

This will be $20 tomorrow on PSN and some other places.

Do you know if the DLC will be on sale?

Yup, $6.59 individually, and I think $16.49 for all 3.

That was one of my favorite bits of story, so much shown and told through litte obervables and interactables placed around that environment.

spoiler for after-credits scene.

Spoiler:

and I am downright salivating for the sequel with Harry Osborn as Venom and Miles as a playable spider-man character

I read the spoiler because I could not help myself ...

Spoiler:

Harry as VENOM?! I’m really intrigued by that. I just assumed Devil’s Breath would be a Green Goblin set-up. Though I had been thinking that a game with Venom — or, even better, a game with Venom and Carnage — would be really interesting.

And I was thinking that Miles as a playable Spider-Man would be great. It would give the game a good way for you to start over, leaning abilities and getting used to web-swinging.

Sorry to tempt you so irresistibly. i hope it didn't ruin any enjoyment of the last few story missions

I am up to 60-some%. I play on super easy so I feel like a badass in comvat and get to the story quicker. Loving this game!

Seemingly mixed reviews for the DLC. Anyone have a sense how long the main dlc story missions take without the side quest mission padding.

If nothing else, the dlc helps unlock the costumes, which is pretty much the main reason to push through extra of the game stuff. The main story and swinging across NYC is best thing ever!!!, but some of the side stuff, meh.

Side stuff, I take it, is optional?

Yes, but it's one of the main ways to unlock costumes. Luckily, you don't have to get perfect thanks to unlock the costumes.

The best tip is to spend the side items unlocking costumes first. Don't use it to upgrade the gadgets. If you do that you might get locked in to not having enough for costumes unless you 100% every side thing.

I did all the side quests, but I'd say 2-6 hours each. The first one, with Black Cat, is by far the best story-wise.

DLC purchased. Loved Spider-Man.

I am thinking very hard about purchasing this - How is the open world? Enjoyable? Or do you just swing by too fast to see anything really? And is the game anything other than a superhero brawler? (Not that there is anything wrong with that!) - Thanks!
