Outward The Adventurer Life Sim

Is there character creation, or are you stuck playing a default character? That's what ultimately put me off Elex despite liking the look and premise.

you select a race (couldn't see what this affects though), head, hair, hair colour, that's it. The only stats are health, stamina and mana so not sure where the skills come from yet.

Gender?

Yes, you can choose gender.

Mana has to be acquired, you do not start with it.

Skills are learned from trainers in the world.

That’s been the most consistently frustrating thing about all the Piranha Bytes games. There’s absolutely no reason for it.

I was able to get the armor in the header picture last night. It's a really cool looking set and it has 60% mana reduction.

It appears that other missions can expire, not just the first one.

Spoiler:

If you get a mission to save the town, hurry. I no longer have access to the first town because it was pillaged and destroyed. I am thinking about moving all my gear over to another account.

I met a bandit who meant no harm, he just wanted to show me his new sword.

I really, really like this game. Picked it up on PS4, and what makes it such a perfect fit into my life is that the random hour of gaming I might find on a weekend is just enough to have a meaningful adventure. Anyone else still playing?

If you were on PC I would be down for some coop.

I really like this game and keep coming back to it every few months but each time I do I start a new character and inevitably rage quit after a couple hours because I hate hate HATE HATE the death system. Half the time I either lose my pack (as in it just vanishes) or I fall into no win scenarios where I have to walk away from all my stuff or get stuck in endless cycles of getting ganked by enemies. That bandit camp north of Cierzo is especially egregious, If I die anywhere near it I wake up inside and get bumrushed by groups of enemies, and If I die inside without retrieving my pack it vanishes and I wake up still inside the camp.
This game really needs a more standard save system with how harsh it’s combat system is and how frequently you’ll run into enemies that can kill you with 1 or 2 hits.
I seriously just need to hide this game so it doesn’t appear in my steam library.

How's this game looking now? I keep seeing ads expansion popping up.

Finished Greedfall recently and was thinking about having another go at this. But only if the save system is fixed.

I plan on getting the expansion as soon I get through a few other items on my to do list. Not sure if I will start fresh or pick up where I left off. I failed to save the city that you start the game in. I would like to have that house back.
