Kellen Winslow drove a 2005 Suzuki GSX-R 750

I keep sports talk radio on in the office as background and they've been talking about this all morning... but I hadn't posted anything about it until I just heard DP talking to an officer that was on the scene who provided information I hadn't read online yet. Although the officer I mentioned was not the first responder, he said that Winslow's main complaint was of chest pains.

Over the handlebars after hitting a curb at 35 mph (estimated), I'd say he cracked a couple ribs.

Good thing he's soldier. /sarcasm

Meet the new R. Jay Soward.

Whoa crap.

Adam Schefter on NFL Total Access says that Winslow''s contract contains language that forbids him from ""hazardous activities"", including motorcycling. A bunch of money is going to be heading back into Cleveland''s pocket.

Winslow already lost a bunch of money last year. His contract contained incentives that he would''ve made just by being on the team last year. But because he got hurt so early, he missed out on them. His contract was worth $40 million, but after last year''s injury, the contract can only go up to $29 million. And now it looks like that number will fall further.

Winslow and his moron agents, the Poston brothers, deserve each other. The video of their negotiations just keeps getting funnier

That was gooooooood!

For that kind of money I would live like the bubble boy until training camp and the season and go to and fro in an armored/padded car.

This just in...

He''s a JACKASS.

But HOW SWEET IT IS that the contract he held out for, and burned bridges for, is now the very thing that''s biting him in the ass.

Reports out of Cleveland says broken ribs now... What a dipsh*t... Chris Carter had it right today when he said you have to treat your body like the money making corporation it is because you have a limited amount of time your body can deliver the coin - and he just shortened it some more.

To paraphrase the immortal Michael Wilbon, it''s time for a monetary BEAT-DOWN on him. If his contract did contain the prohibition on hazardous activities, the Browns shouldn''t pay dollar one to him this season.

A commentator today said they could take upwards of 4 million from him. His contract specifically says no motorcycle riding - he looks to be in the hurt locker in more ways then one.

Kellen is practicing for his upcoming stint on the cover of Madden 08

I''m sorry, the answer is ""Moopes"".

Word out of Cleveland''s sports media - torn ACL, poss punctured lung from broken ribs. Gone for the season, Cleveland determining whether they will take 4.4 million back from him.

Mmmm, it''s even better than I hoped...

One article says swelling is preventing the MRI from being able to see a tear for certain. But I bet that''s just smoke. If you watched ""Inside Training Camp"" on NFL Network last summer, when the Jaguars'' rookie Jorge Cordova tore his ACL in practice, the trainer knew immediately before they even took him inside. He noted there was an awful lot of ""play"" in the knee, and he wouldn''t tell Cordova for certain before an MRI, but he confessed to the cameras later that he knew right away. He was just trying to keep Cordova as calm as possible. Apparently it''s pretty obvious when the ligament''s no longer restricting the knee''s movement.

No doubt, the doctors dealing with Winslow are almost certain as well, but the Browns aren''t confirming publically until they get a clear MRI. Perhaps there''s a possibility of a partial tear instead of a full tear. We''ll see.

I forgot to mention the report says kneecap was dislocated as well.

TE''s pact has clause prohibiting ''hazardous activities''

The one element that is clear, based on a copy of Winslow''s contract obtained by ESPN.com, is that the Browns have an avenue to seek financial recourse on what was a six-year contract with a maximum value of $40 million when it was signed. But sources from the NFL Management Council, the league''s labor arm, and the NFL Players Association acknowledged that the Browns probably will not attempt to enforce the penalty elements of Winslow''s contract if he is able to play this season.
At least twice in Winslow''s contract – in the ""optional extension agreement"" and in the ""signing, reporting and playing bonus addendum"" – there is specific language regarding the off-field activities in which the player is precluded from participating. The sections of both addendums are similar in verbiage and refer to ""hazardous activities"" that ""involve a significant risk of personal injury ... including, but not limited to skydiving, hang gliding, mountain climbing, auto racing, motorcycling, scuba diving and skiing.""

The bonus addendum stipulates that, if Winslow defaults on the contract between Feb. 2, 2005 and Feb. 1, 2006, ""the player shall forfeit and immediately return and refund to [the] club,"" $5 million of his original $6 million signing bonus. In the case of the optional extension agreement, Winslow could be asked to relinquish all of the $4,412,500 option payment if he defaults on or before Feb. 1, 2006.

Idiot.

Idiot.

Yep as Joe the caller from Sirius NFL radio said - ""Stay off a bike for 4 million dolla'' - I could do dat. For a couple of million dollas you could water me up and slide me across the grass.""

I almost wrecked my car coming home last night laughing to this caller. Bottom line is he said it better then anyone else.

I just... I mean... wow... I love SportsTalk radio. Seriously. It''s always comedy gold.

It was absolutely brilliant - some of the funniets and true things I have hear have come right off a Sirius NFL.. Absolutely the best - I am half tempted to sig it just for posterity.

NFL Radio on SIRIUS is the best sports talk I''ve ever had the pleasure of hearing.

The hosts are not self-important or otherwise full of themselves or their opinions. No chest-pounding. My favorite show, by far, is The Afternoon Blitz with Adam Schein and John Riggins.

The knowledge these and the other hosts have of the NFL is incredible. Most sports talk hosts know about their team, and the stars of other teams. These guys keep up with the whole league, and not once have I slapped my forehead over something stupid said by them.

Yes, but I don''t know if it has the same moronic charm as WFAN here in the NY-Metro area. There''s nothing like hearing ""Benny from Bensonhurst"" calling in for the 700th time, asking if the Knicks can finagle a multi-team deal that will bring Kobe and Lebron to New York. Always priceless.

LOL. Mercifully, no. I''ve heard crap like that on some of the local and late-night national programs, but not on SIRIUS NFL. One factor might be that most of the SIRIUS NFL shows have a host that is an ex-player or coach (Riggins, Dan Reeves, Shannon Sharpe, etc). Helps keep things grounded. The press guys tend to do things besides radio, instead of just being airwave jockeys.

Holy crap, they''re not just talking ACL damage, but 3 bone fractures in his leg and kidney & liver lacerations

There''s chatter that Winslow could not only miss this year, but miss next year too, or even more. The phrase ""career threatening"" is popping up a lot more now.

At least R. Jay freakin Soward played in 11 games in his career!

Boom goes the dynamite.

Whatever he may have been its still a shame to see a career possibly end and wasted talent..

I kinda feel bad for the guy.

I feel bad that he''s an idiot and it''s going to hurt him until he acquires some hard-earned wisdom. You''d think after getting injured so early last year he would have gotten over the whole ""I''m an invincible young man"" idea.

Well Certis, he is a ""Souljah"".

Dumb, dumb, dumb. Too bad, but learning via the school of hard-knocks is always tough.

LOL!!

The animator that did the ""Going Poston!"" video strikes again.

The 21-year-old tight end, Cleveland''s top pick in the 2004 draft, bought a powerful motorcycle last month and had a learner''s permit, but ignored advice from fellow riders to get lessons.

*shakes head*

If were Romeo - I would just cut this guy loose as a breach of contract and start over - this is beyond stupid. Maybe he comes back with another team - but not with mine would be my thoughts. He has shown no loyalty to his team and the team owes him no loyalty.
