City of Heroes

How are you power leveling this fast?

I remember sewers then park, then... Somewhere... and you could be 20 and have fitness in a few hours.

It's been a while but I think the old spots still work

There was a 100% xp bonus over the weekend, and I've been in large teams most of that time. The downside of speed leveling is, you can't afford enhancements at your current level. So I was limping down the home stretch to 32 with virtually no working enhancements.

Can you guys point me in the direction of a list of skills and whatnot?

Cox Wiki

Today I learned that there is a P2W vendor in Atlas Park. Right near Ms. Liberty. You can buy prestige powers. And a "prestige enhancement" specific to one damage type (smash, lethal, energy etc). You can only slot one but it does not age out as you level.

And ninja run. OMG guys ninja run. It's a prestige power that replaces vanilla sprint. I slotted it on my staff/super reflex scrapper. It is phenomenal. I also learned that prestige sprints stack with vanilla sprint. You can activate both for a low-dough version of super speed.

* edit - to clarify P2W appears to be in jest. Nothing you can get there breaks game balance.

So I created a character and went into the tutorial... And now what? I am hoping that when I log back in I can get to the main game because there is nothing to do in the tutorial but run around. (which is kinda fun with my spiffy new mastermind)

Once you finish enough missions in the tutorial you can go to the real place

Yah, should prompt you to talk to differnt contacts who give you missions to do.

For now unless we can get an official CoH voice channel on gwj discord, we can probably use general chat 1 or 2.

First we have to get an actual GWJ group of heroes together. Has that happened yet?

It seems it was borked. It never saved my character so I had to recreate.
No worries. I am now a level 6 mastermind (mutation/demonic)
Having fun old school style

No, not sure we have settled on one server though you can transfer so not a big deal. I don't care what server, as long as I don't have to deal with pvp.

edit: also, can't get my mic to work with discord. connected to my headset, and works fine with all other applications/programs but get static when I use it in discord/try to test it no luck.

I don't care too much about the server. I picked Torchbearer to play with some friends from Champions Online, but they're not sticking around it appears. So I'm up for moving to whatever server we want.

They all seem to be high pop at this point

Yeah everything is busy. I made a supergroup on Torch but it's my old one from Guardian - Evolution.

Not sure where any of those crazy people are nowadays but I had to make it just in case they return.

They added a 5th server today.

They're also accepting donations now.

They say they'll turn off donations each month once their server costs are met. I had thought they wouldn't do this for fear of aggroing NCSoft, but after how crazy the past few weeks have been, nothing surprises me at this point.

They have already almost met the goal too. Just shy of $400 to go. Them taking donations makes me nervous that this won't go as they hope. I have sudden feeling of forboding from NCSoft.

And just like that they met the goal before I could donate.

162 people donated over $7200 in less than an hour.

I wonder how long the enthusiasm will keep up. Nearly a week in and I'm still having a blast, I'd donate if necessary. My alt-itis is kicking in hard.
edit: From the announcement forum it looks like some folks ponied up $100. They really missed CoH!

I cannot see my enthusiasm waning anytime soon. There are so many variations to try that even if new content is never created I will be at this for a good long while. Funny how I had stopped playing before the game was cancelled but missed it intensely afterwards. Now that it's back I cannot get enough of it.

Ok, I need to be more careful, meant to work on statistics homework last night and ended up leveling a DM/regen scrapper instead to level 10. 5/17 and that class being over with can't get here soon enough.

What are some fun builds to play?

leveling a DM/regen scrapper instead to level 10. 5/17

What does level 10.5/17 mean?

All of them?

If you weren't playing near the end in 2012 or missed unlocking some of the special archetypes, those are pretty fun to play. The Widows and Crabs in particular were cool.

There's also some new powers. Haven't read up on how powerful or balanced they are but new is interesting.

Level 10 is the level I got the scrapper to last night.

5/17 is the date of the day after my last Statistics class.

There is a "." between the two but not enough spaces as I was in a hurry when typing it apparently.

I never played the game before a few days ago. Complete newbie just heard about it for Years and got super curious when it suddenly became playable again

Ultimately, depends on your playstyle. Because my odd play times/amounts I tend to favor more solo friendly classes/builds. So AoE damage is good as is survivability. I also really enjoy playing with the character builder/costume maker so a lot of my characters don't even make it past level 1.
