Nintendo Switch Catch-All 2.0

Who wants a KoeiTechmo/Warriors Style game for Persona 5?

Actually, I'll probably get it.
I got Warriors Orochi 4 on switch and it plays well, even in handheld mode, so... yeah.
I legitimately like the KT Warrior games for being mindless fun.

I dunno, if it's the first Persona game without homophobic crap in it, I might just get it. Hyrule Warriors and Fire Emblem Warriors were both fun.

DMC5 Twitter just announced the original Devil May Cry is getting a Switch port this summer.

...which is weird because it's just the original game, not the HD Trilogy. And while I guess I don't mind replaying the original, I feel like porting DMC1 but not DMC3 is just odd, because one of those definitely aged better than the other.

Naturally, people are hoping this means Dante is the next Smash DLC fighter, which... I mean, I would certainly not complain if he indeed is announced, but Joker being in Smash hasn't resulted in a Switch port of Persona 5, so...

They're porting a PS2 game over instead of the HD collection with 1-3? Uh, no thanks.

Instead, the Switch gets a Persona 5 musou game. So... how about a DMC musou game?

I actually might not hate that idea, and I hate myself for not hating that idea.

Holy crap Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is amazing.

Good! I'm glad you're enjoying it!

I was encountering some really serious drift issues on my left joy-con analog stick that no amount of compressed air was fixing, so I ordered a replacement kit (which included a necessary Y screwdriver and some handy plastic thingies for prying apart some other plastic thingies on the joy-con itself) and swapped out the analog stick for a new one.

For those curious, I just ordered the cheapest one available on amazon, which was the following when I purchased it:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...

My question now is this:
Is there any way to disassemble the removed analog stick itself to actually clean it out so I have a spare laying around? It looks like the back of it is a single piece of metal that has tabs bent up over the plastic that would be tricky to remove and replace, but it seems silly to toss a potentially useful component just because it has some dust in it that I can't clean out.

The core of the issue is a wearing of a part, not dirtying. So you're probably better off buying a few new replacement sticks.

Gameinformer is doing a bunch of coverage for Marvel Ultimate Alliance this month. So far, they revealed Hawkeye (yawn) and Ms. Marvel (not Captain), have some impressions, and will be showing off gameplay tomorrow.

I'm definitely exceited for the game, and I'm not seeing a whole lot to change that so far. They say the screen gets busy, but then again, the screen gets busy in Smash, too.

Nintendo Direct, June 11th.

I got the FFX/X-2 remaster for Switch. I picked up the physical copy, so I wouldn't have to download and install anything. WRONG! Only X comes on the cartridge, X-2 has to be downloaded using an included code... And they did the same thing for the X/X-2 on Vita, but that, at least, was two separately installed games. On Switch, you access all the content from the cartridge, so I might as well have downloaded the whole thing. Oh well.

Oof, I wish there was a circumstance that I could have warned you. I didn't realize until doing a bit more digging that, yes, you need the cart in the system for both games, even though FFX-2 is a download. From what I recall, both Resident Evil Revelations and Bayonetta 2 require a download for the second game in the package, but they don't require the cart to remain in the system.

Right now the only definitive advantage to importing the Japanese or Singapore version is to have both games on one cart. I've seen it confirmed that the Japanese version will automatically detect your system's language settings and present voice and text in that language. All the information on the Singapore version I've found is inconsistent, with some saying you can use Japanese voice with English subtitles and others insisting it's all locked to system language.

I'm also the only person that cares about that, I've no doubt.

Can anyone tell me how region locking works on Switch? I'm about to get on a plane to Tokyo and there may be some cruising in Akihabara game stores in my near future....

There's no region-locking on the Switch and the platform uses universal binaries. What this means is that games you buy that are outside your region (like, in Akihabara) will play on your American Switch in whatever your system language is, so long as a version of that game exists in that language. So if a game is available in the US and you buy the cart in Japan, it'll play identically to the US version. If a game isn't available in the US, you can buy it in Japan and play it, but it'll be in Japanese only.

GameInformer has some gameplay up of Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3.

I feel like this is a game I'd have to play myself, because watching it, it feels like there's a whole lot of nothing to it. Not exactly a game where footage does it justice.

It's also so weird that I've gotten so used to the MCU that Wolverine looks really out of place next to all these characters.

I haven't played either of the previous Marvel Alliance games, but this one basically looks like a Marvel musou game, although maybe with a bit less outpost holding.

Haha I had the exact same though. "What's he doing here? That's a weird cross-over."

Yikes, I'm a little worried at the sheer seizure-inducingly high amount of brightly colored effects on screen during gameplay. Even characters without high tech or cosmic powers like Cap and Black Widow had a light show going.

Thats a mic drop worthy explanation. Cheers Clock.

Loved the first two MUA games so much. And the X-Men Legends games they spawned from too. I'm in unless the day 1 reviews are just awful.

You might enjoy Game Informer's conversation with three developers of the original Marvel: Ultimate Alliance, which I'm listening to right now.

I don't know but that preview looked bad.. like super boring bad.

That's always the way those games were. They were basically modern beat-em-ups where the hook was that you got to play as characters you loved.

I always thought of them as successors to the old Genesis and SNES X-Men games, so I felt like they didn't really have much for me these days.

I'm not sure how indicative of actually playing the game this footage is. I feel like it was cut to show the characters and some moves, but not actually the game.

That's because it does look more musou than Diablo now, which is odd to me.

And, yeah, it looks quite lame to me. I hope it looks better in-game and not this weird edited mishmash of stuff.

TheGameguru wrote:

I was hoping it was just the reveal trailer that looked dull, but it looks like that's just the game. Probably not my thing if so.

For a more positive Switch-related impression, I finally decided to pick up the Genki Wireless bluetooth adapter so I can use my AirPods in handheld mode. I had held off because I was finding a ton of reviews that talked about substantial audio delay, but thankfully, my initial impressions mostly match the positive ones reported here.

There is a bit of of input lag, but it is very minimal, certainly nothing close to the reports of half a second to a full second delays that I had read about. I've only really tested with Dragon's Dogma so far. It might be a bigger deal for something twitchy like Smash, but so far, i'm quite pleased.

My friend will probably pick it up because his kids love Marvel, so I'll be able to play it at his place with his kids. This is a Team Ninja game so theoretically the action should be good, and I imagine this sort of gameplay is tough to show. I think, when it comes to gameplay videos, the easiest to showcase are FPS games and platformers since you can map the basic controls to your brain, but an action game like this... you can't really imagine what it's like to be holding the controller in your hand. If that makes sense.

Even so, this game is a "wait and see". His kids will probably love it. And really, how many people here like LEGO games? Have you ever actually watched that gameplay? Talk about boring to see.
