Chiefs Twitter is trying to make a Patrick Peterson trade to KC happen. Anyone think two 2nd round picks gets him? Is that smart?

I think I would do it. I have hard time thinking that is enough, though.

No. Yes.

There were over 40 million viewers last year for the Draft. That puts it in the top 10 viewed events for the year, assuming the NFL wasn't counting incorrectly.

Hence the hype, I guess. It's amazing what the ESPN Hype Machine can do.

The draft is all over tv now, including broadcast TV. It's a juggernaut.

Peterson is one of those guys whose level of play still lives up to the name he's built for himself. He's turning 29 in July, should still offer a high level of play throughout a contract extension (has 2 years on his current deal, could see a new team extending him for another 3-4).

I think I'd put his trade value at a 1st and a 3rd (or 2020 2nd).

Jadeveon Clowney is reportedly available for trade. He has not signed his franchise tender, and he and the Texans are "not close" on a contract.

That'd be a blow to the Texans defense, and I think Clowney's draft day trade value might be hampered somewhat by such an edge rusher rich draft class, but if they can't realistically get him under contract, it would be good for them to get something in return for him, maybe from a team that misses out on all the edge rushers likely to go in the first half of round 1.

The. f*ck.
I've been critical of Clowney in the past (his legs are like sticks and they get injured all the time) but regardless of this he is a huge component of the Texans defense. Any time he and Watt are on the field together it is a nightmare for the offense. Houston does this crap all the time, just allowing talent to walk or trading them away. Sickening.

Maybe a 32nd draft pick?

A tweet from a Jets beat reporter.

Love the smack talk from him but coming from the Jets, he has no leg to stand on comparing to Manning's two rings.

Looking forward to tonight's draft! Please don't screw it up DG!

The Patriots don't seem inclined to pay the big free agent dollars to edge rushers. Good chance they add someone in the draft.

It does seem odd that the team would not be more aggressive while they're in that "QB on a rookie contract" window, but Clowney's demands might be out of porportion to his value. The Texans tagged him rather than let him walk, knowing that trading after tagging was an option. If they can get good trade value for him, then I wouldn't be too critical of the decision.

Not to mention Sam Darnold is a long way from proven. He's not any better than Eli at this point, everything else is just future projection.

I remember some of these picks and the reactions.

I love how some of them became Jaguars. Jeff Lageman was a starting DE for the expansion Jags, and Kyle Brady was their starting TE for 9 years (and more productive as a Jag than his years in New York).

That Blair Thomas pick though. 11 running backs in that draft went to Pro Bowls, while he ran for 2200 yards for his entire career.

He isn't even *that* good of a pass rusher. He's a great run defender though, which is not exactly valued atm.

It's tough, but what if it nets an OT!

He's better than his sack totals indicate, but it's true that he's not elite tier at it. His 59 pressures were 17th best among edge defenders last year, and he was 14th the year before. PFF graded him 14th in pass rushing among edges last season.

There's the elite tier of rushers that's a few guys, another tier of top edge rushers beneath them, and then I think Clowney is near the top of the 3rd tier beneath those guys.

Like you said earlier in the thread though, Garion, they won't draft any o-line

Oh, I checked before making that comment. He's good, not great as a pass rusher due to the knees. He lost that slight edge he had in college, but still has his size, strength and football smarts.

I truly don't hope that's the case. The team deserves better.

More news is leaking about Hill, and it’s not good. There is audio of his fiancé and Hill discussing the incident, and Hill is implicated. Probably done as a Chief.

With Mayock no longer on NFL Network I don't know where to watch the draft...

Yeah I always enjoyed watching Mayock's take.

garion333 wrote:

Still NFL Network. Daniel Jeremiah was a scout for the Ravens under Ozzie.

So . . . Blaine f*cking Gabbert?

@#$!! Josh Freeman.

So, yeah, it's draft night? I took a year off from football. Like, a year. The only game I watched every play of was the Super Bowl, which was such a great choice. Really. The other day I was thinking about the Patriots having won it and it literally took me a solid 15-20 seconds to remember who they beat.

So . . . Cleveland actually looks interesting, the Giants are the new tire fire, Josh Rosen is apparently Kryptonite, and Bruce Arians couldn't get enough of tall, strong-armed serial rapists in Pittsburgh so he moved to more southerly regions?

Am watching the draft because a friend and I have been watching it together for 25 years, so tradition. Wearing my first football-related T-shirt in a good 10 months, about to throw on the traditional Derrick Brooks jersey and figure out some way Tampa trades Winston to the Raiders and uses that pick to get Josh Rosen because serial rapists can eat dicks.

This Nick Bosa kid is apparently a big fan of white supremacists, but, hey, he stands for the anthem.

Also, Blaine f*cking Gabbert?

Nashville looks packed.

And Lincoln Riley looks like John McGinley.
