"Transistor" is now free on the Epic game store.

I didn't really like Bastion, but hey it's free. I'll happily add to the pile.

The ending made my daughter cry.

Oof, guilty! My Ctrl+F's for "assassin" and "creed" over the past couple of pages of this thread were obviously insufficient!

I loved Bastion, and gave up on Transistor after an hour or two. I’ll still click the Epic button though.

You should try it if it interests you. It's not like Bastion at all.

What is Bastion in this context, and is it related to Resistor or to the Assassin's Creed game?

Same dev + engine as Transitor, so I’m making the broad and likely unfair assumption that they are very samey.

All I know is that I loved Bastion but bounced right off of Transistor.

IIRC, something about the way it mixed real-time and turn-based (which Bastion doesn't do) just threw me off.

Hrrm. Well I jumped in and so far it's spiffing. The turn mechanic is odd, but it feels more like bullet time to me - I'm not sure if I like it yet, but it's not quite like anything I've played before, and how often does one say that about a game?

Besides which it's gorgeous, and the (rather bizarre) game world is evocative without beating you down with exposition. I barely have any idea what's going on but it's a fun ride so far.

Edit to add: I found the controls wonky on keyboard/mouse, it's definitely a controller-first game. But after I dug out my old forgotten xbox controller things made more sense (the controls anyway, if not the story).

I loved both dearly. Mostly for the characters, plot, and world building. That said I can understand if it's not everyone's game.

Small update: I now hate the game, as a side effect of having spent several hours trying to make an xbox controller connect wirelessly to windows, which has caused me to hate everything and everyone in this stupid broken world.

I’m not sure if your talking about the video game world or the world we live in...

Yes.

That hardly seems fair to Transistor.
I liked Bastion, but loved Transistor. The music, the art, the characters, the story, they’re all gorgeous. The gameplay was different and yes, it’s definitely a controller game.

I was being flippant Just venting, not saying anything about the game (which remains spiffing).

Starting today, for the next 2 weeks Street Fighter V is free to play on PC and PS4.

I'm bad but I'm happy to teach people a bit if they'd like to dip their toes in.

RE7 is 50% off on Steam, down to $15. RE2 Remastered is 34% off on Steam, down to $40

So Monster Hunter World is $20 on the PS4 sale. But $40 on Capcom weekend on Steam. Huh...

I very nearly bought it for around $35 a couple weeks back when just about everyone was selling it that low, but it just wasn't low enough to pull the trigger on. $20 would certainly be low enough, but I don't own a PS4.

And free through Xbox Game Pass.

Probably should've bought Monster Hunter World when it was on clearance for the PS4 for $12 at the grocery store.

Only been on Steam since August, so makes some sense.

Honestly, the PS4 version is probably the one you want due to content updates much more on the PS4 than the PC.

For some odd reason they opted to replicate the PS4 update schedule on the PC, so everything is delayed on PC by how long it took MHW to come to the PC in the first place.

Bunch of Switch games are $10 off on Amazon right now, including some 1st party stuff.

Smash, MK11, Yoshi, Mario Bros U, Splatoon 2, etc.

Apparently price matching a Walmart sale, but why not just buy from home?

Fire Emblem Warriors is currently $15 on Amazon. And $25 on switch.

Indie-darling P&C game Kathy Rain is free on Steam for the next 24 hours.
