[News] Post a D&D Picture

Previous incarnations of Cleveland/P&C/D&D have had an image thread, to handle political cartoons and other image-based stuff that doesn't belong in the general post-a-picture threads.

If any of them spawn an extended discussion, please spawn it off into its own thread. Replies to non-picture replies should take the form of a link pointing to a post on a different discussion thread.

And I shouldn't have to say it, but the images still need to abide by the rules.

Maybe if the Democratic Party was offering real alternatives or policy positions people would vote differently. But the big power players, from Nancy Pelosi to Joe Biden to Chuck Schumer seem to be trying to get by with just saying "But we're not Trump" over and over again.

Then you really aren't listening.

Yeah, the subpoenas are coming any day now... any day now...

There are people in the Democratic Party that want to offer real alternatives, but they're not the big power players. They currently don't support either Medicare for all or the Green New Deal, and try to downplay them as impractical pipe dreams.

You’re right, they’re also spending a lot of time criticizing any junior representatives that take stances on things and they are pushing for policies that make it harder for progressive democratic candidates to gain access to resources when attempting to primary incumbents.

That has nothing to do with it. Pelosi, Schumer, the presidential candidates, and most of the Dems are talking immigration, health care, and taxes. If all you are looking for is Trump stuff, you can find it. But if you are actually listening and following the Dems, Trump mostly comes up when the press pushes the issue.

If all you hear is Trump, that's on you, not the candidates.

The issues 2020 Democrats are running on, according to their social media

This is a pretty good overview of what candidates are actually taking about.

Cool, so if I post on twitter that I’m going to work my boss can’t fire me for not actually showing up, because hey, at least I talked about doing it.

Don’t get me wrong, I’ll vote for whatever grouping of Dems shows up on my ballot next election, but so far in terms of actually doing anything they’ve shown the bare minimum of effort while focusing mostly at shouting “oh no he didn’t!” at the oval office and metaphorically holding underwater the heads of anyone slight left of center.

Then what would you have them do with no effective ability to move legislation in the Senate and no way to override a veto (by merit of not having a 2/3 majority)?

Cool, because my response was to a post in which the complaint was that they weren’t talking about this stuff.

Yea, but if they ONLY talk about on twitter, it's about as helpful as Flake and McCains talk about opposing trump. These people are legislators, the speech they have that matters in their legislative votes and bills. If that's not where they are talking, it's the same as not talking at all.

Coincidence that Bannon was just in town? I think not!

Kind of a "Tornado destroys city, one baby survives" kind of miracle.

Maybe not so much, baby survives is concievably more coincidence that context is read into.

The gold cross not in the fire proper is just basic thermo.

It's be like using holy water to put out a fire and then crediting God.

Holy water only works when it is dumped from helicopters.

Wut? That's from April 18th and it's the 17th today. It's already a blatant photoshop, given the font in "Obama's" post, but it especially looks fake once you look at the date.

I hate that perpetuating fake tweets and comments has become a thing. Nothing against you Farley you probably didn't even realize. Just a pet peeve since it is already hard enough to filter the signal from the noise and the fake stuff just clouds up the world even more.

I didn't realize.

I am happy to remove it but I also really don't care. Both Obama and Bush seem like decent human beings and decent people being kind to others is something I would like more of and if fake it the only way we can get that in the trump era welll I will take a bit of fake.

Obama's Twitter feed, just so its 100% certain that's a fake picture.

Trust nothing, even nice things :/

With this is particular, i think the obvious fake card and the obvious fake font takes this out of the realm of attempted deception and into the realm of obvious satire.

Man. Hard to reconcile someone starting two wars, killing millions of people, and striving his hardest to restrict rights for my friends and family as a 'decent person', but I guess he isn't flinging feces in public like Trump, so.. low bar.

Obama's hands aren't exactly pristine in the unjust war department either. I'm not a fan of GWB, but I think he was/is honestly wrong about a lot of things, not maliciously evil in the way Trump appears to be.

I disagree with this so much.

You’re saying that even though this is completely fake and deceptive, you appreciate the sentiment, so you’re going to perpetuate it.

I have thought about it and yeah.

The sentiment that people should be kind and respectful to each other I am willing to perpetuate.

Lol. But in this case you're also literally perpetuating fake news. And a lie. We have no clue if Bush and Obama actually feel that way about each other.

Look, I would feel differently if this was a cartoon or a movie or something else that was obviously fiction and wasn't purporting to be anything but fiction, but this is a lie.
