Umbrella Academy (Spoilers Ahead)

I hadn't thought about the music...but time in general is a bit funny. The technology isn't as advanced as it should be either. Maybe they'll explain that, but honestly I'm happy with it just being one of the shows many quirks!

It is him! I walked by a poster for a kid’s show called “Ricky, Nicky, Dicky and Dawn” that my boys were into for a while. Number 5 was Nicky, another older-than-his-years character. I thought he was decent as a child actor then, as well.

I just had an oddball thought: the music in this series is out of place. Most of the music is from the 80s, but these kids weren't even born until 1989, meaning the stuff they imprinted on will mostly be 2000 and later.

For some reason I'd flashed on them dancing to "I Think We're Alone Now" in one of the early episodes (I was a bit earwormed by that, it's been in the back of my head for days), and, in retrospect, I'm not sure they would have started spontaneously bopping about like that. And then I got to thinking about the other tracks, and realized that they're all for us old fogies.

Didn't notice at the time, but it seems all wrong, now.

I thought the music fit perfectly to the show and really loved it. I thought each song selection fit the scene and the individual characters really well.

As far as the dance scene, I recall that Victor played that from a vinyl. Growing up I imagine the kids didn't have access to radio or anything else and their music selection was strictly regulated.

Here's a great list of every song played and which scene it was in.

Holy cow! I've seen that show a few times as well and did not notice that!

I found out when I googled him. I have never heard of that show and it is a Disney or Nickelodeon show so while I am intrigued, I am not going to watch it.

Sure, it fits from our perspective, but we're old. These kids are almost a generation younger than we are. (well, younger than I am, I don't know how old you are.) I didn't notice during, but in retrospect, it feels like the music choices were pandering to a demographic (us) instead of being authentic to the show.

It'd be interesting to see some opinions by some folks in their early to mid 20s.

(Note: this is not a major complaint, and it took me several days to even think of it, so it's not like my day was ruined. )

So season 2 is out. I binged the first half yesterday, and finished it off today. I loved every insane minute of it.

I liked it too. Whacky, weird, and interesting. Even if it is 'more of the same' I like that!

I finished season 2 over the weekend, and I think I liked it better than the first season. A little less morose? And I really like the setup for season 3.
