Name a Band / Song We Should Know About

That song and video are DOPE! f*ck the NFL.

Inorite? New artist on me, just happened across someone tweeting about him.

I know this thread mostly sticks to one sort of vibe, but if there are any hip-hop types here do not skip this:

That was excellent!

I believe this thread covers the full spectrum of musical genres. No need to be sheepish. We don’t get much metal here because metal has its own thread.

i hope people post things from all genres here. if there is good stuff in genres i dont normally listen to i'd love to find out.

love the sound of this one

Molly Tuttle's debut album, When You're Ready, is on NPR's First Listen. This has been my most anticipated album for a while. She's an incredible guitarist with a style that's heavily influenced by bluegrass and she mixes that with kind of folk pop songs. Anyway, watch this clip and check out the whole album. And get her EP, Rise, while you're at it!

Well in that case my contribution is Wynton Marsalis and Jon Batiste (who is apparently Stephen Colbert's bandleader) playing the national anthem and America the Beautiful.

(It's followed by an hour of talking about the history of jazz and race and America and whatnot, for anyone who's into that sort of thing.)

Saw a recommendation, heeded it, and have been enjoying the Interstellar sound track very much indeed:

It's about an hour and a half, spread across 2 CDs, of lovely orchestral music. Apparently the composer, Hans Zimmer, was deliberately not told that it was a space movie yet somehow the soundtrack works beautifully in that context.

It's interesting enough for active listening, but I find myself queueing it up while I'm doing other things. It fills a room very nicely, adding a very pleasant atmosphere without being obtrusive.

The CD version sounds a little better; Youtube's audio compression subtracts a little from the ambiance.

Different uploaders will use different bitrates for the AAC audio in the files they upload. The one you linked uses 128 kbps audio according to this web-based YouTube video info tool.

This playlist uses 160 kbps AAC audio, so you may prefer listening to it.

You may want to search YouTube for others. YouTube allows up to 192 kbps audio for HD videos. Until 2013, the audio bitrate was based on the video resolution, but now they will use what the uploader sends.

This is great! Loving the album too. Thanks for sharing!

The new Chemical Brothers album is crazy good. They’re not doing anything new. But they’re doing all their usual stuff better than ever. This song is easily my favorite track on the album. I love what they’ve done with pitch shifting the vocals.

I'm certainly not introducing anybody to Norah Jones, but her new album came out today and people should at least be introduced to the title track. It owns.

The song is very cool, but the dogs RULE.

This new album by LSD is a blast. I mean just the most fun you can have with the dance pop genre.

...and their freaky homage to Soul Train.

For a brief moment I though it was the sax guy from from Too Many Zooz (it's not, pretty great though).

1st single from Beck's upcoming album Hyperspace.

Love it.

The music will keep changing during all these 10 hours (it is not simply looped)."

Not sure if this fits here, but man is it some epic background white noise.

Thank you for posting that. It’s exactly what I needed.

LOL, if you want a real mind trip open a browser tab for each song and run simultaneously.

BabyMetal is doing a show in LA this October.

Video just makes me sore watching. One of the few things that definitely makes me feel my age.

Apparently Grey Worm from Game of Thrones is also a musician and I like his music so far

OH THAT LINK IS GETTING BOOKMARKED!!! Thanks for this. for the middle of night wake ups from a 1 year old this will surely hit the right buttons to get me back to sleep. Or its going to keep me up and ill have to start watching Altered Carbon or something.

It’s incredibly soothing. Very nice dripping water sounds with wind and sustained musical notes. I wish this was on Apple Music just for my own convenience.
