Help Me Pick a Gaming MOuse

OK mouse gurus, I've been using a cheapo mouse, and it's mostly fine.

However, I'm finding I'm getting hand fatigue from my third finger grasping the side of the mouse while my 1st and 2nd fingers are on the two buttons.

Suggestions to alleviate that? Not necessarily limited to "buy a G502".

Do you claw or palm?

I don't really understand the question, but I think claw? Mouse is gripped with thumb on one side, and third finger on the other. Pinky rests on the desk/mousepad.

Jonman does your palm float above the mouse or rest on the "butt" of the mouse?

Float.

I don't have big hands, but it feels like the neither my home nor work mice are long enough for my palm to rest on them - like if I drop my palm from the float, the butt of the mouse naturally rests against the very top of my palm immediately below where my fingers start.

If I shift my normal position "up" the mouse, so I've got a bit of a bend in my fingers as they rest on the buttons, then I can rest my hand on the butt. Feels awkward though.

Hmm yeah, no advice for you I am a palm grip pro.

Is that what we're calling it now?

Only for boogle.

Have you tried the razer death adder? I've got a friend who's a claw-er and he swears by them. I think he's on his third of fourth model.

That's a claw grip, jonman, although dragging the pinky's a little unusual; I use the pinky as the right side control, and rest my ring finger on the edge of the mouse.

I've found the Logitech mice to be quite comfortable that way, although the forward thumb button on the 400 and 402 is a little too far up the mouse, and a bit awkward to use. It's always a conscious reach and just the tiniest bit annoying. The rearmost thumb button is fine, though.

If I could pull the two thumb buttons back toward me a quarter to a half an inch, the old 400 would be perfect. I think the newer models have stuck to that form factor, so I think that observation is probably still true. I'd check that to make sure that those buttons are comfortable before buying.

My hands are a bit on the small side, though, so if you've got big ones, you probably won't notice the issue at all.

Huh. My current mouse also has the thumb button too far up the mouse to be useful. Between that this radical new (to me) notion of palm-grip, I'm wondering if I dun been doing it wrong, and should snug my whole hand up the mouse a half inch.

I don't have big hands, and I have kinda stubby fingers, so it's not a big ole paw problem.

Skiptron - thanks for the recommend - I've added it to the list of candidates when I get around to replacing this disappointingly sturdy mouse.

Who cares? Form follows function.

Just saw this thread and would like to vouch for logitech gaming mice - I currently have a G Pro that's lasted a fair while and works great. It's a size where I kind of claw it but the center of my palm is also just resting on the back, and it's pretty comfortable.

Used Deathadders in the past, and they were nice and grippy, but had two in a row develop the same annoying issue (pressing LMB once would cause two clicks, but only once or twice per hour). Gah.

Logitech's software for fiddling with the DPI is also better (well, less bad).

As a person that has to look at my desk I care.

Thoughts on the g300s? It's on sale today and my DeathAdder left handed edition is starting to have click issues.

I bought a older model M65 Pro RGB to replace a Rival 600 series that was having issues. Very solid mouse that if you can find it, will cost around the same price as a G502.

Wireless mouse noob here. I have my eyes on the Logitech G900 wireless mouse. I just need a mouse now as my old Razer Naga hardwired has become unreliable. I eventually want to get a wireless gaming keyboard, just not now.

If get/install the mouse now, will the eventual Logitech keyboard be able to use the same USB controller? Or will I need to use a separate one?

It depends on the mouse. Not all of the Logitech mice use the unifying receiver. If it doesn't specifically say...unifying receiver, then it needs it's own usb receiver.
