Borderlands 3 Loot-All

Also announced: 4k handsome collection, and a 4k goty version of BL1 with some more qol features like minimap and 4 player couch co-op

Looks like the trend of my first character being the Siren will continue (excepting the Pre-Sequel).

Probably the best game trailer I've seen in years.

2:45 .... That's Rhys! Right? Presumably the woman walking with her back to the screen in the next shot is Fiona maybe?

That might be Rhys, but I'm fairly sure the woman in the next scene is Moxxi.

Well, definitely Rhys I think.... the tie and the robotic right arm is a dead giveaway. so Fiona better be in there somewhere too!

All in all...looks like Borderlands. No mention of microtransactions, etc yet right? That's still my concern, given that this game was explicitly designed in such a way that it would make that sort of thing incredibly tempting to add.

Yeah sorry, that "might" sounded less certain than I meant. I hope loaderbot and Fiona are both in there. I loved that Tales game so much.

I see Maya so that is at least one returning from the BL2 crew, I think that probably means we can look forward to the rest.

Looks like the female probably enemy leader is named Calypso and she is a Siren and the guy is maybe The Father (the text on the poster at 0:06 for him is harder to read) and they are the leader of a cult called Children of the Vault.

Not sure we really need the unrezzed remake of the first game as it looks pretty good already running on Xbox One, but I am down. Would actually be fun to form a regular group to play through 1, 1.5, and 2 with.

I can't imagine they won't be present since all three previous games had them (1 & the Pre-Sequel had more traditional DLC packs, but 2 was chock-full of skin packs)

Not-So-Tiny Tina: Oh yea that's Moxxi. I would recognize that ba-donk-a-donk anywhere.

Yea I think you are right you just see her back walking towards Marcus and Tannis at 2:47.

Also at 2:45 looks like, Zero on the left?

Looks like the new Siren's power is similar to Maya's from 3:02, but maybe she can hold one with each arm or something.

Make it like the Gunzerking skill, but she has 8 guns instead of 2.

I'd also put money down on that being Rhys.

That's absolutely fine. No problem with DLC of cosmetic heads and colour schemes or whatever. It's when games start fiddling their loot drop rates so they can sell more premium loot crates (*cough* Middle Earth *cough*) that things get kinda hinky.

Looks like Lilith is in trouble or dies
The frame by frame breakdowns of the new gun types seem really cool.
Grenade launchers should have been in the game from the start. They also happen to be my favorite gun type in most shooters. But it looks like we will get homing projectiles, stream weapons (slower and more gushing than bendy lasers), a projectile that looks like an acid based frozen orb, cannon balls, etc.

OMG I have to admit I squeed at the walking gun!
I am wondering if we are seeing evidence that the guns are modular which would be very cool.
It also appears we are going to have a lot more customization of vehicles if not outright modular parts as well.

I thought the trailer was kind of a dud. I’m really curious to see what changes they made and I’m hoping they reveal new systems and mechanics and everything soon. I don’t think just more borderlands will cut it. I think this polygon editorial nails it

Wow, people just want to hate!
Take a look at the trailer again.

I'm seeing:
More open world and on multiple planets including perhaps homeworlds of the weapon manufacturers
A beastmaster pet class that can choose between 3 different pets
A soldier that has a pilotable mech that another player can ride shotgun
A siren that looks like she has Brick like tank fighting style
Possible modular weapons and vehicles
Guns with legs
Numerous new projectile types and elements
The slide mechanic which I hope works better than the zero G of TPS
The return of iridium weapons

That doesn't sound like an expansion to me.

I am a-ok with just "more Borderlands", regardless.

I'm a little on that train of thought too, it be refreshing to have new systems or mechanics in Borderlands 3 & the gunplay to be improved as I think the likes of Doom & Destiny have raised the bar in that department.

I'd love to just see a short mission or a small slice of gameplay to see how enemies react to bullets, how good the abilities look, how much interactivity with the environments etc

Still looking forward to it though even if it is more of the same just done better.

To be fair, the character stuff is from the leak rather than the trailer or presentation. I'm excited for more Borderlands I just really hope they change the skill trees and progression.

I don't want to nit pick the character stuff but:
There is a discreet scene with The Android standing in front of its 3 pets.
There are 2 scenes with the soldier spawning/driving her mech (it looks like she has a little drone too)
There is a scene with the siren spawning six blue ghost arms and looks buff and enraged

Don't get me wrong, the skill trees and progression could be a lot better...

It’s there but without the leaks we wouldn’t know “for sure” and most people are just seeing a substance-less flashy trailer. I knew this stuff and the only one that stood out as obvious was the soldier riding the mech.

Looks great to me, I hope it leans more into the comedy of Tales from the Borderlands rather then the series proper. Seeing Rys and Fiona got me way more excited.

May not be a huge visual change but I still think it looks pretty good, and maybe this will run decently on my aging pc. Hope this comes out this year.

I think the reviewer from Polygon is just not into Borderlands anymore. I mean, the stuff they say isn't there (a reason to care about the new characters, details about new game mechanics, etc) truly isn't there, but it's only the second trailer, and the first one was more of a teaser than a trailer.

Internet People confuse me. People need a reason to care about characters in loot progression game? What?

Do people “care” about the characters in Div2 or Anthem? The only character I can name off the top of my head from Div2 is Coop, the static NPC who does your talents.

Why do I remember him? Because Coop is a stupid f*cking name for an NPC in a cooperative open-world shooter.

Well, I certainly cared about the characters in the other borderlands games, but that happened through playing it. I certainly didn't go into the game caring about them because of a trailer.

I care about the characters in Anthem.

I didn’t play the original Borderlands, but Borderlands 2 made me care enough to make the game fun. Well, it made me care about the original Borderlands characters who were now NPCs. I look forward to Borderlands 3 making me give a crap about the dude I played as in 2.

Yeah it would be hard to care about Tiny Tina before being introduced to her and doing her quest in BL 2.
The same goes for many characters:
Tannis, Moxxi, Ellie, Tiny Tina, Janey, Helena Pierce, Scooter, Hammerlock

On a side note, do you think that is Gaige that fist bumps long haired Maya in the trailer?

Can't be Gaige, she has two flesh arms.

I don't think that's Gaige, no. She's too small and her hair is very different. To me, she looks like a new Siren who Maya is perhaps training.

Who I think DOES look like Gaige is one of the playable characters, the one with the helmet and the black lines under her eyes. But there was no deathtrap shown so I suspect that's not the case. The older guy also kinda looks like Axton but he's much older than all the other characters so I don't think that's the case either.

Heh, maybe they have a new character generator that looks like the Star Trek Plot spreadsheet ;P

Zero + Gaige = new pet class
Axton + Jack's doppelganger = new assassin
Brick + Maya = new siren
Gaige + Axton = new soldier

Ooh, one thing I did notice is that Lilith has her glowing tattooed arm in one shot, her fire wings in another, and then in a third scene where she looks in trouble and is crawling and reaching for a glove, she looks de-powered. She no longer has the tell-tale blue tattoos of a siren!

The new soldier (Moze is supposedly her name) also has two flesh arms so she can't be Gaige either. Remember Gaige cut off one of her arms so she could install a Digistruct device in a robot arm so she had an easy way to summon DeathTrap when needed.

Here is the new crew:

Supposedly Amara the Siren, Flak the Beastmaster, Moze the Soldier, and Zane the Operative.

One interesting thing that could be new if speculation is correct is that some of the weapons in the trailer feature under-barrel attachments like grenade launchers and even a sniper rifle with an under-barrel rocket launcher.

So secondary functions/attachments if happening are something new that could mix things up a bit.
