GWJFL 2005: Week 16

Yes. One can only hop.

Well you could skip, but then we''d all know you''re gay.

No word from Stric since he posted at the beginning of the week. I replied on Thursday and he''s yet to follow up.

Neo and I just had a defensive struggle and I came out with a 20 - 6 win. Looks like we''re locked in for the playoffs first round Neo!

Perfect, just the team I wanted to face in the first round.

Don''t think the current standing necessarily indicate seedings. During the regular season, teams with the same record are listed alphabetically. They don''t calculate tiebreakers with that funky ""strength of schedule"" formula until the bracket is drawn up.

Looking at the standings, the outcome of Legion and Stric''s game really wouldn''t affect much. If Legion wins, he locks up 4th place and plays Swampy. If he loses, we get to see the tiebreaker in action and he gets either 4th or 5th place... and plays Swampy.

So call me impatient, but I enforced the deadline and advanced the league. Welcome to the playoffs.

Oh, and just to be arbitrary and introduce an element of randomness (it''s fun, right?), I gave Legion the loss so we can see the tiebreaker in action. (Too bad it doesn''t use head-to-head, eh Swamp? )

The final standings are as follows:

I guess you got it (4th place) anyway, SwampYankeeGWJ.

Note that non-playoff teams didn''t have the tiebreaker applied and so teams with the same record are simply listed alphabetically.

Goddammit, why must tie always go to *Legion*''s opponent? I wanted a victory for at least a little pride!

We''re back to not being buds!

Man, you''re moodier than a woman. Thank God I''m playing your brother this week... and I don''t want to hear your whining in the background, either.

Edit: Though you are allowed to laugh and dance when he kicks my ass.

Sorry Legion somehow I missed that post, doesn''t look like our game mattered anyway though so no biggy.

It''s cool bud. Yeah, in the end it didn''t matter. Had one of the teams that went 13-3 ended up at 12-4 instead, then it would''ve made a difference, but as it came down to it, it''s me vs. Swampy no matter what.

Well I did dump Sanjuro this week.

Oh I''ll be watching and mentally charting everything you do.

Hey, f*ck you, assuming I''m already going to lose. =P

I don''t assume, I simply observe.

I lost last playoffs by not taking Highlander seriously. The same mistake won''t be repeated.
