2019 NFL Offseason Extravaganza

Some unpacking on the Bell Jets deal.

I was worried that article would get the details of the Steelers offer wrong, but they didn't. The offer was essentially $20m guaranteed - only $10m at signing, but the $10m roster bonus also kicking in before the season started.

Sounds like the new deal only gives him $25m fully guaranteed, with a similar signing bonus + roster bonus shortly thereafter structure.

Interestingly, the main other party in this was the 49ers, who according to Bell offered a "three-year, $38 million deal that was mostly guaranteed". Sounds like the Niners went high with the guaranteed money but lower with the total compensation. Not sure what exactly to make of "mostly" but I'm imagining it in the $28-30m range.

I'll be honest, I went to read the article but I didn't even finish the first paragraph because I was so uninterested in LeVeon Bell at this point.

Yeah at this point in his career and for this team theirs a greater than 70% chance he is already irrelevant. I'll say this there is a good chance that Kareem Hunt has way more of an impact in 8 games on the Browns fortunes than Bell will have on the J E T S JETS JETS JETS.

I expect Bell will be productive in New York. Adam Gase was getting 4.6 a carry out of Frank Gore last year. Kenyan Drake was productive for him too though Gase really didn't trust him for whatever reason. He seems to prefer veteran backs that won't screw up their assignments.

Dolphins trade Tannehill to the Titans.

Mariota just got put on notice.

Tannehill + a 6th for Tennessee's 2020 4th and this year's 7th.

Tannehill accepts a significant pay cut to facilitate the deal, he'll get $7m guaranteed with incentives that can take him up to $12m.

Tyreek Hill being investigated for alleged battery incident, involving his 3 year old son who sustained a broken arm. No charges yet filed.

With Tannehill gone, there's basically no one on the Dolphins QB depth chart.

Reportedly, Colin Kaepernick is interested in the job.

Kaepernick would need to be augmented with someone that's actually played in the NFL recently. Someone with lots of starting experience maybe, perhaps even someone that's from Florida and played in-state both in college and his first NFL gig...

Yeah the rumors were Teddy B would go to Miami to reunite with Devante. But that seemed to fall apart a few days ago.

f*ck, f*ck, f*ck.

Really hoping this is an innocent accident. Teresa once dislocated Jo’s elbow when she was three by pulling her up onto the couch to put her shoes on. She got a talk about controlling her temper by the doctor at the ER, even though they were both giggling and playing as it happened.

But if she had a prior like Tyreek, it would have been elevated. In this case, they have to do a full and thorough investigation. So I’m waiting to hear more. Hopefully this is not as bad as it sounds.

Pretty funny that Miami is basically offering a completely unchallenged starting job, and Teddy is all, "yeah naw man, I don't want to play THAT badly."

Miami is in full on tank mode, to collect picks and clear cap space and build around the QB they take in the 2020 draft class. Which must mean that GM Chris Grier doesn't fear for his job. I imagine he's pointing to Cleveland and saying, "we can do this".

Pretty rough bag to hand to rookie head coach Brian Flores though.

Off-topic, I'm getting sh*t on in the CRPG Club main thread for cheering for the Jaguars, if anyone here wants to enjoy that.

So help me out here. Why is there talk about Rosen leaving Arizona, a year after they invested a number 1 pick on him?

Lots of reasons.

New coach.
Number 1 overall pick, trying to drub up trade interest in re Kyler Miller

Okay, those are the two reasons outside of "he sucked".

Yeah I guess but there are a lot of rookie QB's that had crappy starts. Time will tell I guess.

What?! A guy with a history of domestic violence has once again committed an act of domestic violence? Who could have seen that coming? I mean, other than pretty much everyone.

C Max Unger is retiring, which leaves a huge hole in the center of the Saints OL.

It's not easy being green.

I've got a YouTube channel to recommend to you all: The QB School.

If you cheer for an NFL team, there's a decent chance J.T. O'Sullivan was on that team at one point. He holds the record for the most NFL franchises he's been on, with 14. He's one of those classic smart QBs who lacks the athleticism to really make it on the field in the NFL, but those smarts meant he was on every team's call sheet for an emergency QB.

He started a YouTube channel and it's very good. His videos are now right alongside Brett Kollmann's as must-sees when new ones pop up in my feed. (He just started coaching at the high school level in San Diego, hopefully he maintains his video output along with the new job)

I'm finally getting around to looking at combine results and I can't help but notice that for a class that's considered chock full of pass rushing talent there's a significant lack of uber athletes among them. There's no one quite matching up to Myles Garrett in athleticism, but there is more guys a tier down from him.

On the flip side, for a WR class that's supposedly fairly bad, they have some tremendous athletes. It's interesting.

Of course, we all know the RB class sucks, but watch them end up with a half dozen hall of famers.

"The Titans won the first week of free agency by simply shedding themselves of Blaine Gabbert‘s contract and services."

Washington signs Ereck Flowers.

They gave Flowers $4 million. Four million.

In doing so, they apparently cancelled out the compensatory pick they would receive next year for losing Ha Ha Clinton-Dix.

The Jags signed Flowers last year for the veteran minimum.

Four million for Flowers. Oy.

Bortles is now a Ram.

I'm sure next time they will score more than 10 points.

Did they sign Blaine Gabbert now?

No, Gabbert's waiting by the phone to get called back to Tennessee after Mariota's week 3 season-ending injury and Tannehill's week 9 one.

"The Baltimore Ravens and Denver Broncos were interested in Bortles as well..."

GODDAMMIT Bortles could have been garion's to deal with? Why are we denied that reality?

Stupid Rams ruin everything.

I swear to God if Goff gets hurt and then Bortles comes in and beats the Niners, I am going to lose my sh*t.

You're kind of losing it now.
