Nintendo Switch - Games You Can Play Right Now

Good news is that you've likely already blown your chance for one of the big items, so now you can jus relax and enjoy the game.

It's just mean when they do that

Eh, it's FF, they all pull that.

The timer thing he mentioned I was not aware of, but meh.
One nice thing is the remaster has built in cheat options for when I get sick of trying to grind the normal way.

Hell, I'll probably spend 12 hours jump roping before I even get to the play. I'm having a lot of trouble getting the timing with the joy cons and I NEED CARDS.

I actually started recording my playthrough of FFIX last night and was thinking of bringing a discussion up in the Final Fantasy catch-all. That jump rope game has awful timing, and I already lost all my cards in the card game. I really, really wish they explained what the numbers and letters mean. It seems like half the game makes sense, but then when you try to actually engage in "combat" it's just rolling a random number generator each time.

Ah well. Maybe I'll get enough cards to try again, maybe I'll continue to hope they port FFVIII so I can play Triple Triad instead. I always liked that one better anyway.

I'm gonna post the rest of my thoughts in the other thread, seeing as they do cover more of the franchise.

CRAZY deals going on

SteamWorld Dig 2 (Switch) is $9.99 on US eShop
SteamWorld Dig 1 $2.99
SteamWorld Heist: Ultimate Edition $5.99

Wow those are great deals on the Steamworld games! I can personally highly recommend Dig 2 and Heist. Didnt play Dig 1

Dig 1 is a step back from Dig 2. But Heist is great and in a different genre.

Picked up Steamworld Heist. I had it on the DS but it will be fun to play it on the Switch.

Might do the same. Picked it up for $5 years ago but never got to it. Switch I might actually play.

I bounced off Heist when I tried it on the PC, but later picked it up for iPad and loved and completed it, so there's that enablement for buying and playing it on a portable device!

Steamworld Heist never seems to go on sale in Europe, even when Dig 1&2 are both reduced...

That's ok though, I can wait.

I'm waiting for Diablo to go on sale again. It's impossible to even find the game used under $40.

It's currently $50 at Walmart. Probably not the deal you were looking for, but it's something.

I just got done watching the Giant Bomb quicklook for BaBa is You which looks like an amazing puzzle game. Gonna buy it since it's only $15.

Edit: I love how Nintendo just started applying their gold rewards points towards future purchases. They should have been doing that all along. It's great. First time the points have felt worth anything.

I'm a little further in, and started to butt up against some puzzles that I just can't do. I've looked up solutions to a couple of them, and am pretty sure I wouldn't have gotten to that solution.

I suspect it's going to end up in the same camp as Stephen's Sausage Roll: the first third of the game is amazing, the second third gets impossibly hard until I get to the point where I have to look up solutions to progress and because what's the point in that, the final third may as well not exist for me.

I just made it to the last zone of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, and my copy of Yoshi's Crafted World is scheduled to arrive tomorrow night. Talk about good timing for a palate cleanser

Twitch Prime has a free year of Nintendo Online so I gave Tetris 99 a go. That game is way better then the concept alone would suggest. Definitely going to be my "I have ten minutes to play" go-to for awhile.

From bitter to so sweet it will make you pass out.

Same, though I feel like there's mechanics in that game that I don't understand and are not explained at all.

I thought the Tetris tips were posted here the week it released?

There's even a tip article in the news feed on the Switch from a couple weeks ago that talks about the different attack modes.

100% this. There is the whole attacking mechanic I don't think is fully explained. There have been some good posts on the Switch sub-Reddit that explain it pretty well.

Yeah, I just tried it for the first time last night. I just meant they're not explained in game. I haven't had a chance to look around outside of that yet.

Just don't get too excited if you have a family plan, the Twitch code won't work for that.

I had to Google it myself. The badges thing I likely never would have figured out myself.

I continually forget this thread exists. Ahem.

Couldn't find a Gungeon thread and since I play on Switch I'm putting this here. The new free update for Gungeon is out now. The devs have been super good with their updates, so signal boosting it here. The game is pretty good and well worth checking out.

Gungeon is also 50% off on the eShop right now.

Think I will buy it, but I would have been much more excited for the sale if it came before Nuclear Throne's surprise release.

Yeah, it doesn't play quite as nicely as Nuclear Throne, but it's neat nonetheless.

Hey, is anyone playing Gems of War on Switch?

It's a match 3 puzzler rpg from at least some of the Puzzle Quest team. I fully did not intend to play it, as most of the phone to Switch ports I skip.

But, it's really fun. Yes, there's IAP, but it's also all I've played for the last 4 days. It's also been around for like 4 years on mobile, so there's tons of content.

Didn't know if there was a GWJ Switch guild for this?

How bad are the the IAP?

I haven't seen any of it as necessary at all yet. The general stuff I've read has been that it's pretty optional. Just speeds up your collection of units.

I mainly like that there's nothing really based on timers or not being able to play because you're out of health.

But I've also only been playing a few days.

It is fun for about two weeks and then the purchase demands get pretty annoying. At least that is how it was a couple of years ago. I have low tolerance for purchase spam though.

That's good to know. Yeah, if it hits a big grind or paywall I'd prob be out. It's in a good spot for me right now though.
