Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice Catch-All

3ish AM EST must've been the end of the embargo or something, because Vaati posted a video, too.

I hope the environments are varied. That preview video location looks very washed out and brownish.

Sounds worse the more I hear :/
I hope From knows what I want more than I do. They sure did back with Demons Souls.

Not sure if you know but not made by From.

Say what? This game and Demon's Souls are both From games.

Well, if it’s not Fromsoft, then it sure as hell is Myazaki-san. (Man I hope I got that spelling right)

I’m liking the direction - no more grinding Souls, items, materials... the completionist in me appreciates them valuing my time (because I sure can’t )

Wow I am really embarrassed by this mistake. I honestly thought I was in the Ghost of Tsushima thread...

I've been getting the two confused for months. Well actually I've been conflating the two titles and then also changing "Tsushima" to "Fukushima" in my head to create "Shadow of Fukushima," a S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game set in Japan after the tsunami nuclear plant disaster.

Extra content from the demo not shown before.

Reading this thread is amusing. It might help to know that the project started out as a Tenchu game. So, yeah, it's got From Software's DNA, but, uh... they're not exactly a one trick pony. This isn't like Bioware remaking the same basic type of game in different settings over and over. These are also the guys who did Armored Core.

Not exactly Dark Souls But Mechs, ya know.

I've been pretty cool on this game since it was revealed, but I was watching the footage from the Taipei Game Show, and suddenly it clicked for me: this game is like a mash-up of Dark Souls and the Arkham series. It seems like you use the grappling hook Arkham-style to get over and around enemies for quick take downs, but when you can't, or if you get spotted, the combat is more in the vein of Dark Souls.

I'm... really excited by that idea, even if it's only in my head. I'm pretty excited for this to release, now.

Well, they have other ponies, but those ponies are bad.

Keep forgetting how close this is.

the limited PS4 edition looks pretty dope. That being said it would actually be easy enough to build a wood case similar to it and it's only sold in a few countries.

Yeah, same. 3 weeks!

I know GameInformer did a ton of in-depth coverage as part of their cover story, but I'm on media blackout for this one. So excited.

I've skimmed through a few articles, and the impressions have been very positive. The articles also contain spoilers, and different outlets spoiled different aspects. I'm not concerned, but I know some are trying to go in blind. I've been a bit worried about the relative marketing silence so far, but now I'm really looking forward to March 22.

I am really scared by the lack of coop but I will still buy the game because it's From Software.

I bet I will get stuck on the second boss and never be able to progress farther.

well that was the most disappointing thing I have heard...

That's good to hear. I've only read the headlines, so no spoilers for me My YouTube feed is filled with videos thumbnail gifs that I need to avoid too.

I'm probably gonna take a personal day for launch. Looks like a Friday, perfect!

Yeah, got a vacation day on Friday, and overtime leave Monday. So ready. Really nice that more games are starting to release on Thursday/Friday instead of Tuesday.
Well, except I haven't bought the game yet. Kinda disappointing the best price so far is 10% off.

I’m waiting to see if it makes sense to get this on PC or PS4. Definitely looking forward to it!

Oops, I came out of cryosleep two weeks too early. Guess I'll play Dark Souls again.

Ugh, I'm just going to lurk in this thread and feed off you lot's impressions until mid April, when I can actually play the game. I know you won't let me down

I can’t play straight away so I’m going to be enjoying the game vicariously through you lot for the time being.

Yep. This has been worrying me since the game was announced.

However, I have a lot of faith in From Software's ability to build a game that won't 'trap' players in the early game. IIRC, there was an easier offensive option for some of the trickier bosses in Demons Souls. Both the Tower Knight and The Adjudicator could be whittled down from range (I leaned on Soul Arrow like a crutch). And the final boss could be poisoned without being aggro-ed.

That said, there were a number of bosses in Dark Souls 2 that I could never have beaten without co-op partners. Actually, that's not quite correct... There were a number of bosses in Dark Souls 2 that I would have given up on in frustration.

I think I can cope as long as the bosses don't have too many attacks and too many 'phases'. One of the things that ruined Dark Souls 2 for me was the number of bosses who had a second or a third attack phase. It felt like trolling.

"Ha! You've spent half a day learning this bosses two attack phases! Well, actually there are three!! Have another 5 goes!"

I have faith that From balanced the game differently without co-op. I wouldn't be surprised if this is their easiest game. What "easy" means to From remains to be seen.

Also I have the impression that you can use certain areas to build up your levels which can help a lot.

I never used co-op in the other From games, so I'm not too worried about this one. The others honestly never felt balanced with co-op in mind.

Same.
I'd expect some tools will make things easier, like sometimes magic or changing weapons/shields did in the other games. Despite having no selectable difficulty modes, these games very much had easier and harder ways to play them.

Though with Bloodborne, it kinda does seem like the developers wanted less options, which is a shame. Hopefully that is not continued here.
