Rocket League Catch All

Peasant: I knew the namecall was an accident, that’s why I thought it was funny as heck.

Carl: what Panda said.

I got warmed up with you guys last night then went to ranked and won 8 in a row.

That thing about playing against better people definitely works.

Wow I suck according to the chart.

Keep in mind that’s the people who actively played ranked and had a rank at the end of the season.

While these rank tables tell you where you fit among people who actively play ranked it doesn’t tell you how you compare to all RL players.

Get good, son.

You can do it. I believe.

How are you still a coffee grinder on here? You haven’t even posted 10 times and you’ve been a GWJer way longer than me?

God, what a newb.

Rocket League’s Snow Day (hockey mode) is a weird mode because of the players more than the puck.

Also, Lethamyr makes some cool RL custom maps:

Including pool:

I’ve heard people talk about RL dying for years but the numbers have never supported that belief.

RL bounces around a lot in the top 15 steam games (by player count) but isn’t dropping out at all.

According to a Psyonix infographic from a while ago there are far more console players than PC players as well. I don’t know how RL stacks up compared to other games on console (by player count) but it’s in the top 10 paid games list on Xbox basically every time I look. I’m guessing it’s doing just fine.

Because I literally hate the layout of these forums. They're not conducive for me being able to follow and keep up.

I pretty much only use my favorites list. I never try to navigate around.

I do this as well, only occasionally dipping into the recent threads to see if there's anything I want to add to my favorites.

yeah yeah yeah. It's not easy being stubborn as I. But I do have my favorites as well.

I was playing casual matches with co-workers today. Because they are lower MMR we were not playing against people of my rank and I was trying to be really casual. Basic rotation and passes.

An opponent kept going for ceiling shots, messing up and basically passing the ball mid field. I'd score almost all of those against him with a basic aerial or catch and dribble. He was being toxic to his teammate because apparently it was their fault he kept passing it mid to the other team.

I find it odd and a little sad to see a lower ranked player doing ceiling shots and blaming his team when he messes them up. Power to him for trying advanced mechanics and all that but, uh, it's still your fault if you mess em up. I guess I don't really know what his rank was.

I'm pretty sure it's a rule somewhere that when you mess up, always blame someone not responsible.

That's why I play threes! There's two people to blame for my faults.

Aim higher. 5 people.

Had a troll as a partner who was annoyed I had a tech issue and missed a kickoff, they didn't score and 2 minutes later they did. He blamed me then asked what my rank was, ROFL. Whatever Frostybuddy, I saved your butt and you were a dick. I need to turn off chat again.

Edit:AND! he went to keyboard while we were defending to do this!

TURN OFF CHAT. Having chat on is like reading YouTube comments.

If the default chat setting was team quick chat only there would be a lot less toxicity in RL

I second this. I went TQCO a while back...it's probably the only reason I am still playing the game today.

I had been but I played with some gwjers and my mic was down so I turned it back on and forget to turn off before the match.

I just think the reward of running into the good/friendly randoms trumps it to me. This game is about community to me and I don't want some arsehats taking that from me. I had a weird thing happened today and I hate that I didn't save the match. I didn't even think about it until typing this out.

Today, I tried solo standard. My two team mates were horrible chasers. They wouldn't rotate, made quick cuts and horizontal hits to set up opponents. I kept getting pulled out because of that. Anyways, one guy said he has two idiots as teammates. I just said you're a joke after all that chasing. The other tm left leaving me with him. He wanted to FF but I wasn't about that. BUT then someone on the other team said they'd sit out to let us 2v2 but asked people not to report him since he'd be non-playing. Everyone (except my tm, he stayed silent) agreed. Then my tm tried scoring against us. I said to report him and everyone did. He left. Then the guy who was sitting out, said he'd play for my team... 2v2.

We went on to win... well, we would have but I let them get a last moment kick off goal. They deserved it. But it was nice of them to collectively not be jerkwads like my teammates.

I've also met some pretty cool people playing RL. Added quite a few and still play with some. Half the people in my Rocket League club are people Nyx and I met in games.

I've had pretty good luck with meeting people gaming though. Some guys I ran into playing Call of Duty 4 back in 2007 are still good friends of mine and we've been playing together on Xbox since then. They are the main group I play games (other than RL) with.

Dork, that story is awesome. And i hear you; I’ve also run into some randos that were complete delights. They were few and far between, but they exist. I honestly envy your ability to not let the sh*t talk affect you, or deal with the carp so you get to experience the good stuff. The way I’m wired...well, it wouldn’t be good for my health if I dealt with that for too long.

Thanks, Disco. You're right. We are all wired a bit different so we experience things differently based on that. Definitely do what you have to to take care of yourself!
