Honestly, I have no clue what these goggles do or not. Any recommandations regarding the list to check these goggles?

There have been some Subnautica codes floating around (heh), and that's apparently quite cool in VR mode.

It's a damn good game even on a flat screen, but I suspect that in real 3D it must be mesmerizing. And, heh, immersive.

Meh. The VR implementation in Subnautica is sub-optimal. I ended up reverting to pancake to play it.

It was also one of the rare games these days (I've got my VR legs pretty good now) that very quickly made me nauseous.

I could sea that...

(sorry I couldn't help myself)

Saving for tag thread.

Subnautica in VR is an amazing 5 minute experience (depending on your personal tolerance for aquaterror). Just move around and marvel a bit at the scenery and the creatures, but to actually play, yeah you pretty much go back to pancake.

Added some more to the master list, including Bioshock Infinite and Skullgirls.

You still end up playing Subnautica, though, so that ends up being a win no matter what.

I have a love hate relation with subnautica, who knows it gets better through the looking glass..

Anyone want Steam key for
gone Fight’N Rage

I've got a key for Northgard if someone is interested.

Grinder rules apply.

EDIT: Gone to BadKen with a ridiculous reaction time of about 30s!

LOL! I was just doing my normal browsing!

I even asked if it was still available. I guess I should have glanced at the timestamp of your message.

What if my tolerance for aquaterror is really really low? Should I avoid this game at all costs?

If you're really fearful of deep water, then Subnautica may not be very much fun. I was very surprised the first time I saw someone refer to it as a horror game; to me, it gets a little tense in spots, but the whole point of the game is (slowly) mastering your new environment, which is kind of the antithesis of horror. I think of it as almost pure fun, albeit with a fair bit of resource-collecting tedium in the midgame.

But if the thought of being bitten by underwater creatures creeps you out, then stay well away, because you will get chomped, and will quite likely drown at least once. I'm not phobic, but find some of the wildlife fairly frightening. I think they'd probably be crap-my-pants terrifying if I were.

I just remembered another VR game. Elite: Dangerous is supposed to be absolutely splendid with goggles, and because you're piloting a sit-down craft, apparently almost nobody gets motion sickness from it.

I sometimes have nightmares of falling into deep dark oceans in a raging storm. The perspective always changes to where I can see myself as tiny little speck falling down down into the dark waters. Haven't had the dream in sometime so maybe I broke myself of it with logic.

I also don't care for standing near big things and sometimes just looking at something huge can make me dizzy.

With that said subnautica has a near zero terror level for me. I had some tense moments where I thought something might be friendly and it turned out not to be friendly. Note I didn't play much in VR because my experience was mostly terrible. So I'm not really feeling the weight of the ocean. The creatures aren't really all that scary to me. That's just me though, I could see it freaking other people out.

Elite is amazing in VR because you finally get a sense of scale as to how big the ships and stations are. I'd use it more except (for me anyway) the galaxy map is almost completely useless in VR.

But if you just want a WOW moment, undock your ship and exit a station in VR then just fly around it a bit.

Oh well... downloaded a hog of 8 gb to install the VR Goggles, and it stated my damn computer is too old.

That sucks.. Anyone in Europe intrested in a sharp priced Oculus DK II developer kit, can sent me a pm

If it's less "explore foggy water and get surprised by scary stuff" and more "build cool stuff, occasionally fight a shark" I can probably handle that. I have no problem with not being able to see in water in real life but for some reasons in games it gets me. My survival instincts must be all screwed up haha.

Hmm, I'd call it somewhere in between. The sea is full of hostile creatures, they're quite dense in some areas, but for the most part they're not that hard to avoid. They can be annoying, though, when you need to explore a certain area (either for resources or to get into a wreck) and thus can't simply swim away. There are later and larger ones that can be substantially more problematic, however: wander into their zones and you might not wander back out again. The genuinely dangerous stuff is usually signposted pretty well, though, and you can always retreat to the Safe Shallows (your starting zone) which has very little that will hurt you.

Visibility is a problem about half the time, and most of the time when you go really deep. It's not that the water is murky, it's always pretty clear, but the deeper you go, the darker it gets, and you become more reliant on your own light generation. But it's generally easy to see creatures, as nearly all of them are bioluminescent. You may not be able to see the ground or the walls around you very well without turning to look straight at them, but I think you'll always see something that could attack you.

But a lot of what you're doing is definitely "build cool stuff".

Thanks to Bonus_Eruptus for BioShock Infinite! Greatly appreciated.

I have a very low bar for aquaterror, what I did with Subnautica after a while was simply to turn on invisibility mode. I decided that for me personally I'd rather explore and gather than fight monsters and have heart attacks. So I enabled Invisibility from the debug menu and then otherwise played normally. Parts of the game obviously became pretty easy... I never had to worry about Ghost Leviathans tearing my Cyclops apart, but I still got an unforgettable experience out of the game.

i also don't do well with aquaterror and I have to admit the first time i got grabbed by a reaper when i was motoring along with my seamoth i nearly needed new pants and it took me a couple days to go back to the game.

I'm sorry if this doesn't help, but you guys might really like ABZÛ if you want a not-terrifying underwater game. I found it to be serene and fascinating and positively wonderful. It's an explore-o-puzzle journey with no air supply to worry about, and the underwater wildlife are just normal (and peaceful) plants and animals. It's by the team who made Journey, so the (subtle but clever) story is shown, not told, and it's achingly beautiful.

Its still scary even in Invisible mode, because somehow they still grab you, but they can't hurt you.

Knowing this doesnt help the terror until you've been through it 5 or 10 times.

Not to be pushy, but could this go in the Subnautica catch all or something? There's now a page of VR and Subnautica with one Key post in-between. Thanks

Also added some new Steam/Fanatical keys to the master key list:

  • Downfall
  • Forward to the Sky
  • WRC 5 FIA World Ralley Championship
  • HIVESWAP Act 1

Pushing the unclaimed forward with more keys.

Look at this! A Coffee Grinder has to whip you all into shape!

Well done, tormodh!

Added Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy, Tangledeep + Soundtrack, and Among the Sleep - Enhanced Edition to the list

Thanks to Forlorn Hope for Tangledeep! I'm installing it as I type!

And now an intern....or is that the new coffee grinder?

Its the next level after grinder
