I wonder...

The dirt it seems Russia has on people like Trump and Graham...

Makes you wonder about Trump's oddly specific fantasies of trafficked women tied up with blue tape over their mouths.

The next president is going to find a pizzeria-themed sex dungeon under the White House aren't they.

do not order the all meat deep dish.

or olives...

All I have to say is that Trump seems to know a lot of people who engaged in human trafficking, starting with Epstein.

Meanwhile, in North Carolina:

If I'm reading this right, a state court has ruled that the NC constitution amendments on voting laws and a tax cap are unconstitutional because the legislature is unconstitutional (?!?!) #ncpol IMAGE(https://pbs.twimg.com/media/D0CniZ0XQAE9su9.png)— David A. I feel like it's this.

I know who people WANT it to be, but I wouldn't get your hopes up. Schefter is reporting that, but nothing in the police presser indicated they had a bigger fish caught. They could be holding their cards close, of course.

Also remember Tiger Woods owns a restaurant across the street. I'm just saying.

Schefter's claim could mean someone bigger in the NFL (can't think of many), bigger in sports, or bigger in general. Also, I believe ten of these sex slave worker sites were closed down, so the other "name" could have been observed no where near the one Kraft visited twice.

An Arkansas state Senator is proposing a new law that would cut a school's National School Lunch Program funding if student's reading scores don't improve over three years. The bill would slash free lunch funding if test scores don't improve by the second year and completely eliminate funding after year three.

Research has found that hungry children have lower academic achievement, increased behavioral issues, are more likely to repeat a grade, and are more likely to be tardy or miss school than children who aren't hungry.

61% of Arkansas students receive a free or reduced lunch from the NSLP, which is a federal program.

You aren't doing as well as other children? We must punish you with starvation!

Really, the root of all of this is a worldview that thinks that the main cause of problems is that people aren't motivated enough. Poverty? Should have worked harder! Or they should drink less! (As in a recent Marie-Antoinette-level twitter post.) Blaming alcohol has a long history in America, and it makes it easy to turn people's sufferings into an obvious moral failure so that you don't have to help them. The Prohibition was about getting double moral points--take away people's drinking and we'll end domestic abuse and poverty and laziness! Only it turned out that the demon drink wasn't the root of the problem and even the people who were prone to addiction weren't helped as much as the Prohibitionists thought.

It's all the same impulse.

Just sounds to me like another effort to deliberately tank public schools by sticking them in a negative feedback loop.

Highly relevant and short talk by Rutger Bregman: "Poverty isnt a lack of character, it's a lack of cash"

Update to the update: Racist editor dedicates the front page of his newspaper to letters to the editor praising his racism.

IMAGE(https://i.imgur.com/fyB1bsB.png)

He then announced that he's leaving the paper to "play tiddlywinks and chase lewd women," and put out a press release saying that the new editor and publisher of the Democrat Reporter is Elecia R. Dexter, a black woman, who said the paper will move in "a new direction." The racist will still own the newspaper.

February Fools?

What is up with all these people being more loud about their racism as they age (e.g., James Watson)?

Leadership from the top!

Worst Black History Month ever.

Texas Senator John Cornyn quotes Mussolini on twitter

Saying the quiet part out loud again?

Didn’t 45 retweet a Mussolini quote last year and then defended Mussolini when people called him on it? Fascist stans are the new normal.

I'm calling it. Early Monday morning: "someone hacked my twitter account," or "I was misconstrued."

"I was warning about Mussolini, not endorsing him. " #liberalsaretherealfascists #gotchamedia

How about don't quote Mussolini, you moron.

Moving from idiot senators to continuing Black History Month news, the Virginia Lt. Governor, a black man, got up in front of the state senate and compared the sexual assault allegations against him to lynching.

So there's that.

This man is a Columbia educated attorney.

I like her and all but this seems a bit much...

AOC is the star of a new superhero comic

I would seriously wager the origin of that is some conservative PAC. They will do anything to make AOC look ridiculous.

FWIW, politician superhero comics have been around a while. I’ve seen ones for both of Barack & Michelle Obama, Trump, Elizabeth Warren, and Nancy Pelosi, among others. Basically any politician who has a zeitgeist moment.
I haven’t read any of them so I don’t know their level of sincerity.

I'm pretty sure James Watson didn't actually increase the horrific racist things we was saying, the landscape just changed around him and people starting caring more about it. He's always been a racist pos and it's deeply shameful that my profession 'owes' him so much and gives him such a place of honor.

A number of politicians also have children's books written by or about them.

Reuters: After Putin's warning, Russian TV lists nuclear targets in U.S.

MOSCOW (Reuters) - Russian state television has listed U.S. military facilities that Moscow would target in the event of a nuclear strike, and said that a hypersonic missile Russia is developing would be able to hit them in less than five minutes.

WP: Former campaign staffer alleges in lawsuit that Trump kissed her without her consent. The White House denies the charge.

A staffer on Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign says he kissed her without her consent at a small gathering of supporters before a Florida rally, an interaction that she alleges in a new lawsuit still causes her anguish.

In interviews with The Washington Post, and in the lawsuit, Alva Johnson said Trump grabbed her hand and leaned in to kiss her on the lips as he exited an RV outside the rally in Tampa on Aug. 24, 2016. Johnson said she turned her head and the unwanted kiss landed on the side of her mouth, which she called “super-creepy and inappropriate.”

super-creepy and inappropriate.

Describes him perfectly

The Washington Post wrote:

In a statement, White House press secretary Sarah Sanders dismissed Johnson’s allegation as “absurd on its face.”

Obviously absurd. Why would anyone take an accusation like that seriously?

Trump wrote:

I just start kissing them. It’s like a magnet. Just kiss. I don’t even wait. When you’re a star, they let you do it. You can do anything.

...oh, right.
