Apex Legends - Catch All

Got my first win last night! Woo! My pubbie teammates did the heavy lifting, I did manage to snag a kill in the mix.

I'm generally a lurker here given the site is blocked at work and parenting constrains my free time--but I'm looking to play with folks, so please feel free to add me on PSN and Origin (I'm playing on both). I'll be sending requests out as well.

A quick reminder to the PC master race, with the increased interest driven by Apex, it is best practices to sign up for TFA (two factor authentication) for your Origin account.

Also a lurker here, and a really crap Apex player who feels like playing with some GWJ folks would enable me to turn on voice chat, which would help alot. Blip670 on Origin.

Good idea! I didn't even realize Origin had 2FA--I've gone ahead and added it.

Congrats! Always a good feeling getting a win!

GOT MY 1st WIN TODAY!!! Was a pub group and I got the last kill and was the last one alive! I think I’m hooked forever on this feeling!

Congrats!

First time poster, long time lurker here as well. I too am lacking in skills for the Apex but am good team player. Would love to play a few rounds with some GWJrs on PSN after I get the kids into bed.

R99 and Peacekeeper are like my go to weapons I look for. I noticed a jump in my kills when I focus on getting those two (0-1 kills each game to 1-3 kills a game). Both are so novice friendly.

Yeah, Peacekeeper was the star of my run! The last firefight I got such big hits with PK. Aiming Down Sights and the precision choke I think help immensely with landing that huge damage. I was in a 2v1 as the 1 and PK cleaned up!

Also, new gun out today. The Havoc. It uses energy ammo, so now that will be even more scarce. I assume people are talking about this somewhere else, or it would have been posted.

I think I got killed by one last night.

The Havoc arguably makes energy ammo less scarce, because ammo spawns near each appropriate weapon automatically. So there are still 60 players per map, and now there's more energy ammo than there was last week.

Of course this depends on what players do, but most of the energy weapons aren't that popular. I'm not sure any are going to be too popular, but we'll see. Imho the Devotion isn't worth using unless you find the hop up.

I found a Havoc in one of my games and I immediately didn’t like it. Too much upward recoil and a slow wind up to fire. I didn’t try to stick with it to see what I thought about it upgraded, so maybe it gets great? It might also be my play style as I prefer a controlled burst or that meaty shotgun blast up close.

I also had a tough time on PSN trying to get my free packs for linking my EA account to Twitch. Apparently I had a very old email that I haven’t used in forever linked to my EA account on PlayStation. Something that had to of occurred back on early PS3! But finally got my free packs and skin. Worth it? Unclear on that at the moment!

With the autowinder hop up its great at dumping a clip

I primarily play Apex on Xbox, though have done a round on PC. Any idea how to make sure that when I claim the Twitch Prime rewards I get them on Xbox rather than PC? When I went to claim the reward, it was asking me to confirm my Origin account and I hesitated, unsure if doing so would mean the reward only went to my PC.

edit: Ah ha, found my answer in a FAQ -

I play Apex Legends on multiple platforms (PC, Xbox One, and PS4). Can I access my content on each platform?
No. Content will be available only on the first platform you log into with your linked EA account. Choose wisely!

I don't know the answer but you can only claim them once, so you're right to be careful! I think it's all about having your EA account linked to your Xbox account.

Based on Seagull's stream, there was lots of energy ammo to be found.

I had the dumb added problem of trying to figure out which email I used for my PSN account that was linked to an EA account. I apparently was a dummy and made separate EA accounts for each platform (PC, Xbox and PlayStation).

Apparently signing up for an EA account is serious business and not something a 16 year old would think would come back and make life hard later on!

There's also an attachment (forgetting the name...sorry) that you can attach to Havok to enable switching to firing single rounds instead of waiting for it to spin up. (Left on D pad for Xbox, no idea what for PC, PS).

Isn't the alternate fire mode that meme-y delayed-shot laser beam thing? I watched some streamers trying to use it yesterday and it seemed useless except against a stationary target who doesn't know you're there. It only does 55 damage too so it's like a worse Longbow.

I’m in the same (dumb) boat. I linked Twitch to the EA account of my main email address and the skin/packs never arrived. I’m guessing they’ve gone to my origin account on PC (don’t have one anymore) or PS4 (never play anymore), so I just miss out I guess. Oh well.

Does this game have the weird wall/structure building mechanic in it? Or is it more a straight multi-role shooter?

FWIW, I only used a single email address for all my related accounts (and I confirmed I used the same one across the various platforms), but my packs still haven't shown up. I have played Apex on both PC and PS4, so maybe there is an issue related to that--but they haven't shown up for either of them. Via Google this has affected other folks--but it's hard to tell how many of them are affected because of mismatching accounts.

No building. Just a straightforward if quick shooter with some powers as sweetener.

Spoiler:

You can get the prime loot by setting a launch option

In Apex Legends, when you shoot somebody, they DO NOT turn into a building.

Doesn't this only work on PC? Still, it's good info to get out there. I haven't looked into the method because I'm on Xbox and the existing process worked fine for me.

If you login to your EA account, you can see which accounts you have it linked to, so you can confirm that the packs go to the right account you primarily use for Apex.

I think this might be a BIG reason for a lot of people’s problems getting their Twitch packs, but I’m not sure. Mine came almost immediately after making sure I had the right EA account, FWIW.

My Prime packs finally showed up this evening--I never used the command line option. I assume they sorted it out or it took time to flow through some database.
