We used to refer to a lot more diseases in that way. You'll see reference in historical sources to things like "the cholera" and "the tuberculosis" and "the cancer". Over time, "the" has fallen off in favor of referring to those diseases more directly. I can only think of two instances were most English speakers still use "the": the flu, and the plague.

"The Batman"

I think only Microsoft requires an XB-Live sub to access Netflix - it’s always been unnecessary for PS.

What does and doesn't require a PS+ subscription is intentionally confusing to try to get people to pony up for a sub that they don't need. You're required to have PS+ for:

  • Online multiplayer for games that are not free-to-play, don't require an additional subscription, and/or are not acquired through PlayStation Now
  • Access to any games acquired through the Instant Game Collection
  • Cloud storage for game save files
  • Automatic game patching and system updates

If you don't fall into any of those, you don't need a sub.

Yeah, I gleaned that from looking at the official sites, which pretty much try to play rope-a-dope with you about what is necessary.

Thank you for the summary, however.

We our PS4 to view Netflix pretty much exclusively. We haven't ever had PS+.

New question:
Does anyone have experience with a cheaper (~$30) waterproof case for an iPhone 8? We're going south in March, and I'd like to take it in the ocean and the pool for photos. Lots of positive feedback for the $75+ models, but not much feedback either way for brands like Redpepper, Merit, Seacosmo, Owkey.

I've been struggling a lot to focus on my studies and want to try meditation each morning/evening to see if it helps.

Does anyone have any experience? My attention is awful and I don't know where to begin. Any useful apps? Youtube series? Would love some pointers!

Hmm, does anyone recognize rjt204 as a Steam handle? Random invite from this account, they only have a few games played for a few hours, and no games in common with me except Black Ops III (which I didn't play on Steam anyway). Nothing that would indicate it is a GWJer or anyone else I know. Obviously I am inclined to ignore it, but wanted to ask here first.

Ostensibly, they are from Winnipeg, Manitoba. They only have one other friend.

Certis's sock puppet account, confirmed.

EDIT: Wrong thread, sorry folks!

Thanks Clocky!

Wrong thread, Dakuna.

The breadth of topics on GWJ never ceases to amaze me, I didn't know such a thread existed. Heading there now, thanks!

Do people who play looter shooters on PC and console realize the underlying cycle is that of a mobile game?

Do people who play Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes and its like realize that it's basically just a mobile JRPG?

CCG isn't gacha! It's a card game!

This post is offensive.

JRPGs have an endpoint you can progress to.

Not mobile ones.

Excuse me, they're called "shlooters"

We've rearranged the room where our TV is and my long serving 5.1 speaker system that relied on wires is going to be a pain to reset up. (Old house and the previously easy route of running the wire under the carpet is gone now that it's all hardwoods).

So - recommendations on a wireless 5.1 speaker? Bonus points for answers to:
1. Best way to keep the satellites powered if I don't run wires or is that just part of the deal?
2. Suggestions for putting a few more satellites around the house to play music in other rooms?
3. Will the lag from playing on a PS4 drive me crazy or is that not a problem any more?

Price is not the biggest factor as apparently I only do this about once every 15 years or so.

Thanks!

I have a vizio sound bar that does 5.1. The subwoofer is wireless and the back channels are wired into that. It’s cheap but works pretty well.

Sonos? Especially with wanting satellites in other rooms.

So I've got a question, and it's kind of a "meta" one. I've had "Choose Your Tag" as my tag for a couple weeks now and I'm not sure how to go about turning it into an actual tag. What do I do?

It looks like many others have a whole thread devoted to it (that's all I could find by searching the forums), but I'm somewhat of a lesser-known gentleman 'round these parts, as I normally only post to a very small number of threads. It might be tough for others to come up with something for me, unless you happen to enjoy beer, metal music, Lego, or you are divorced.

This is an interesting question

Hey there, thank you fellow "Choose Your Tag!" friend!

Would you like for me to make tagging threads for you guys?

Standard procedure is for someone/anyone to start a "d4m0 - Choose Your Tag" thread, then everyone makes suggestions, and after everyone's had time to make suggestions, you pick your preferred one and PM Certis who'll apply it.

Historically someone will start a thread for yall, suggest choices and then you'll pick (by PMing Certis).

Lately there's been a rash of people who haven't chosen a tag and just sit with the "Choose Your Tag!" for months and years, which has partially killed off the entire enterprise to me. Some people have multiple tag threads because of that. I've unfortunately come to ignore the "Choose Your Tag!" designation because of that.

So, yall have likely fallen through the cracks, sad to say. Eleima used to keep track of all the tags and their threads, but I don't know what happened with that endeavor.

Still, someone should get some tagging threads started for yall... Hmm. Who could do that. I dunno... Hmm.

Edit: Hmm. What's this I see?

Edit: Edit: What's this I just found?!
