[Discussion] Hope to Remember The Trump Administration Thread as being 'transparent and honest'

Let's follow and discuss what our newest presidential administration gets up to, the good, the bad, the lawsuits, and the many many indictments.

Air isn't real. I can't see it. I haven't breathed in 10 years.

Love isn't real. I can't see it. I haven't felt the warmth of a human soul in 10 years.

Wow. That is actually worse than what even Old Trump usually posts.

Well the second one might be true for Hegseth and most of the Trump administration.

So he's an atheist then, right?

That's a man who likes the taste of his own poop.

This made me mad. I can't see farts but I know they are there. Why are so many people anti science?

Not just his own.

I mean, I assume he uses bathroom doorhandles - he can see them.

Because they want an internally (to themselves) consistent post expertise world.

EDIT - as relates to wierd anti-science attitudes.

If you watch the video, it is quickly obvious that he was being facetious (though given the general anti-science sway of their audience, that may still show a lack of judgement).

That's not the video I watched. I watched a dude explicitly say "I promised myself that I'd say the crazy sh*t I actually believe so here you go."

And that exchange began because Hegseth's co-hosts were shocked and appalled that he ate pizza that had been left out on set from a National Pizza Day segment from the previous day, something he said was fine "because pizza lasts a long time." The USDA and food safety experts disagree.

And this is Fox & Friends we're talking about, aka the intelligence source our president--who tweeted over the weekend (again) that climate change was a joke because it's still cold and snowing in some places--trusts more than the actual experts at the CIA, NSA, FBI, NASA, CDC, and the military.

I get that its tempting to always believe the worst of any Fox news talk show host (with good reason). But if this silly banter had occurred on any other Sunday morning show it would have gone completely unnoticed.

Most versions of the video also seem to cut out two fairly obvious pointers to it being a joke. One where he says "I can't get sick" and bursts out laughing at his own joke, and where he finishes off the 'intro banter' by saying "thanks for being here, sorry to be grossing you out on this Sunday morning".

Tweets are in the Mueller mill that he has Trump on collusion with evidence. We'll see if that comes true or not.

Whoops wrong thread.

It's so blindingly obvious that he's colluded with Russia. The guy is a mob money launderer that kowtows to anyone willing to give him a dime, but especially to Putin. Like it shouldn't even be a question at this point. He's a dyed-in-the-wool traitor.

Yesterday during California's State of the State address Governor Gavin Newsom announced that he was indefinitely postponing the California High-Speed Rail system. The program was supposed to connect LA with San Francisco, but had been plagued by significant delays and exploding cost projections.

Today Trump seized on the fact that the federal government had contributed $3.5 billion to the project and demanded that "we want the money back now," calling the whole thing a "'green' disaster."

The only problem is that Congress authorized the $3.5 billion grant as part of the Passenger Rail Investment and Improvement Act way back in 2008 (which was part of the so-called "shovel-ready" infrastructure projects Congress was hot to fund given the economy was in free-fall). The law authorized the Federal Railroad Administration to spend more than $10 billion on 158 different rail projects.

Gov. Newsom said that there'd be one section of the California High-Speed Rail system that would be completed. A 110ish mile segment in California's Central Valley. The Federal Railroad Administration's $3.5 billion grant to California just so happens to be for that 110ish mile segment in California's Central Valley, which has to be completed by 2022.

So, as a recap, Trump wants California to immediately repay the federal government $3.5 billion for a 10-year old transportation grant involving work that doesn't have to be completed for another three years (and that the governor of California pledged would be the only thing out of the project to be completed).

Why do I get the feeling this outburst is going to be from one of Trump's Fox News chyron intelligence briefings?

On top of Newsom being critical of Trump in the entirety of the past and that Newsom this week also pulled the bulk of California National Guard forces from the southern border.

Ex-acting FBI head confirms for the first time publicly that there were discussions about recruiting Cabinet members to invoke the 25th Amendment

In September, citing sources familiar with memos authored by McCabe, CNN reported that Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein discussed wearing a "wire" to record conversations with Trump and recruiting Cabinet members to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove Trump from office.

According to Pelley on Thursday, McCabe confirmed this on the record. This segment of the interview was not aired Thursday morning.

Umm, why not?

60 Minutes is a Sunday show. They're building up the hype.

Notably, Rosenstein denies this happened:

A statement released by the Justice Department in response to the interview said that Rosenstein “again rejects Mr. McCabe’s recitation of events as inaccurate and factually incorrect.”

“The Deputy Attorney General never authorized any recording that Mr. McCabe references,” the statement said. “As the Deputy Attorney General previously has stated, based on his personal dealings with the President, there is no basis to invoke the 25th Amendment, nor was the DAG in a position to consider invoking the 25th Amendment.”

"Never authorized" is not what McCabe is claiming. He's saying they talked about it.

Yeah, I get that. I figure Rosenstein is just protecting himself since he's sill employed by Individual 1.

Interesting denial. McCabe never claimed Rosenstein authorized recordings. Previous off-the-record discussion suggested that Rosenstein was being sarcastic when he asked "Well, what do you want me to do, Andy, wear a wire?"

This official and a source who was in the room characterized Rosenstein's remark as sarcastic.

And of course Rosenstein is correct that the deputy attorney general can't invoke the 25th amendment, but again, McCabe never suggested that he could.

Because TV is the only way Trump actually hears and internalizes any info about himself and his government role. The moment he sees something like this, he'll probably start taking drastic actions to protect himself and try to cover his tracks.

In all honesty, I think this is one of the reasons the Mueller investigation has been drip-feeding info and wording things in particular ways so as not to point fingers directly at the president-- Trump is a f*cking rat, and the moment any amount of light is shed on his shady sh*t he'll run and hide. Sometimes you have to be slow enough with the trap that the rat doesn't notice it closing in around itself. If you jump the gun too soon, it escapes.

The last time this wire thing came up, Trump and Rosenstein had to play chicken over Rosenstein getting fired. At the time, he was able to protect himself with the Mueller investigation, but he's no longer in charge of that. I'm not surprised he's issuing a very specific denial to try to nip that in the bud again.

Reminds me of the story back in October about how the Chinese government was listening into Trump's calls since he uses unsecure phones, noting who he talks to and what arguments work on him, then finding out who those people talk to, and influencing them with a network of China-friendly businessmen and academics.

I guess were in for a long string of Deep State Tweets from the Cheeto. Great more fodder for his masses and the Fox News heads.

What the f***?

McConnell: Trump will sign the bill and declare a national emergency

I would say to all my colleagues, has indicated that he's prepared to sign the bill. He will also be issuing a national emergency declaration at the same time.

You're looking at it the wrong way. This just paves the way for the 2021 national emergency over climate change and healthcare.

Logical end point of presidency by meme.
