The Division 2 - Catch All

Also, I think you can only give out invites on the same platform that you were accepted into the beta on.

How do you send out friend invites? I got the Beta Preload email, and followed the link about friend invites, but can't find it on that web page.

I'm looking at the website on my phone and it's not rendering properly, but from what I can see there and the way the email reads, they have to be on your Ubisoft friends list in order for you to send them an invite.

On that note, first three... two Goojers to PM me their Ubisoft username will get one. Keys appear to be platform agnostic.

Gameplay Walkthrough Part 1 - First 30 Minutes & First Impressions

I am going to have to pass (but will try to watch the VOD version of your stream)...I am hooked on Apex and going to have to put off digging into The Division 2. I loved the first one...but battle royales have stolen my heart.

Enjoy tomorrow -- I am looking forward to seeing your take on it.

I'm happy to share my 3 beta codes with Xbox GWJers. Since we have to be friends on Uplay, maybe easiest to friend me on XBL and then I'll add you as Uplay friend? PM me to claim.

Ah, refreshing the browser page (Ctrl-Shift-R) did the trick, I see the friend invites now.

So I have two PC codes up for grabs if anybody's interested.

Thanks vypre for the beta key.

In case it isn't clear for people on PS4, you have to be uplay friends (plus a linked account) with the person sending the invite in order to view the key. When the key is visible, redeem it in the PSN store (left side, all the way at the bottom). Once redeemed follow the prompts to start the download.

I redeemed my code tonight and it looks similar to what they did with Anthem. At least with the main key, it is not platform specific i.e., the code can be used for any platform.

I'm fangGWJ on uplay.
I'll be on 6am PST tomorrow morning.
Its a work from home day so I'll get to play till 9am!

Salvation was nice enough to invite me without me asking so I'll be on fiddling with this tomorrow.

Maybe it can take over the stuff I wanted Anthem for.

Downloading now Higs.

Tomorrow 2100 The Division 2 time allocated.

(I might try and squeeze a smidge in late, late, late tonight)

Got to the first game way after release, am so up for 2 straight off the bat.

Excellent. I'll plan for that. We're in the same timezone as well which I find disturbingly straightforward.

I got an email notification about 2 and a half hours ago that the Beta is now live. Email also mentioned something about certain rewards for Ubi Club Rewards members. Tried to see what that was about by logging into the app I downloaded to make it easier to send out friend's list invites for Beta keys and... it won't login.

So, anybody try to login to the Beta yet? I imagine their servers are getting slammed.

So far I've crashed 3 times and ran into the same game breaking bug twice. Feels a lot like the Division 1 launch.

I played some before work and it was super smooth. The visuals are of course stunning, but the sound design is also exceptional! Look forward to digging in tonight.

Yeah, I'm really surprised to see them having so many troubles with not only game servers but more "routine" online components like beta registration websites, forum access, friend invites... I really thought they would have learned their lesson.

Mrlogical was a sweetheart and sent me an invitation to the beta on Xbox, and Ubisoft sent me a PS4 code. Uh... Glad I have a PS4, too!

They have a post around somewhere that reads to me like every version of the game currently has a memory leak and the only way to avoid it either getting worse and worse performance (PS4), or crashing (XBox and PC) is to occasionally close and restart the game. It's a known issue.

Managed to get in a quick 45 mins this eve, getting disconnected for the second time was a nudge to call it a night.

It's The Division, but more vibrant.

The disconnects were annoying but apart from that all good.

I'm not a Ubisoft fan at all really, nope to AC and Farcry franchises to date, but there's something about The Division that clicks. Shooters are fine, but none are day one, the RPG loot n grind of The Division somehow is like catnip to me and means I'll want to pick it up asap for sure, just the Standard Edition mind...

So this is everything I wanted from Division 2. Unfortunately there is even more stuff I want to try that isn't unlocked or unlockable.
So I might be done with the beta. I really don't want to get too far into the game only to have to redo it come launch.
I like the new armor system. I like the skill and perk systems. I like settlements, control points, side missions.
I like. I like. I like.
The real test will be if I can resist the urge to come back. It will be very hard.

I haven't played much yet - basically just through the tutorial - but so far, the PS4 version seems pretty solid. Servers worked, shooting appeared to function, didn't experience any crashes. Basically the polar opposite of Anthem.

Looking forward to playing more!

They should make this public, it feels like a real demo and I think it could convince people to buy the game

How do you respond to calls for backup? I kept getting them but didn't seem to be able to do anything with them.

The shooting feels nice, and the other mechanics are tight. And hey, kudos for not coding all the initial enemies as black thugs!

I really, really miss the snowy, Christmasy NYC setting. I get that this takes place later on, but the setting just isn't nearly so evocative or visually striking.

In my case, you turn them off as soon as you start the game by going to the map screen, going to the "SHD" tab at the top left, and disabling the feature in the lower left corner of your screen. So annoying!

I agree somewhat about missing the snowy setting, but at night the lighting effects are pretty creepy and evocative. They've done some nice work with environmental shadows and ambient glow from your orange Division light and your drone for example.

Anybody else feel like the graphics were a bit dated? I played on PS4 last night and was thinking it looked a lot more like a PS3 game, but I didn't take the time to boot up D1 to compare. I get it's still beta and graphics may not have their final polish - I'm just wondering if I was the only one to think so.

I can't say is worst but some character models are in weird state, like transparent hair and stuff like that. For the rest seems all improved to me, on Xbox at least.

Thanks, good to know. Played a bit more this morning but when grouped for a mission my frame rate got worse and worse till the game crashed again. Tried playing solo after but ran into two more bugs: respawn spawned me where I died (surrounded by enemies instead of at a checkpoint) and I was unable to replenish armor in combat. I'm trying to like this game but...damn.

I really enjoyed the hour or so I put into the game yesterday. I did have some technical hiccups.

I was twice disconnected from the server out of nowhere, and twice, when attempting to login, was in a queue, but I was never more than 100 deep into the queue, and managed to load into the game within about two minutes. Also, in the first mission, where one of your last objectives is to rescue someone who is behind a locked door, my team of randos had cleared out the area such that our next objective was just "free her" but we all stood at the marked door and did not get a prompt to do anything for a solid 2-3 minutes. We were all exploring over the map at points to see if there was something we'd failed to trigger, one last enemy or something, but eventually it just randomly decided to trigger. I'm glad I didn't have to restart the mission, but that was close.

As a lifelong resident of the DC area until about 5 years ago, it was cool to see this town I know so well rendered in a video game--I can't think of another game that rendered DC on this level (the only game I can recall offhand that was set in DC was Splinter Cell Conviction, but my memory of that game was it was set in closed off areas and did not feel especially accurate at all). Almost immediately after leaving the White House, I came to the office where I worked from ~2007-2010 at 12th & E. I walked around the entrance to the building, stood on the part of the street that my office window looked out on. I ignored the missions for a bit as I walked around to places I knew in that immediate area--that's where the Potbelly's was! there was the Corner Bakery!--and it was neat. Mostly memorable in the way they capture the architecture rather than much distinctive about the signage and such, although the other entrance to my old building included the entrance to the Warner Theater, and there is a bunch of theater signage back on that part of the map, and I think there was some book-related signage where the Barnes and Noble is (or was, it's been a while). It looks like my place of employment from 2011-2014 is in a much higher level zone in Foggy Bottom, so I assume I won't be able to visit that until release.

As for the actual game, I completed the first story mission and explored the first little settlement. The game is extremely similar to the first game, which is good, but I like the improvements I've seen so far. It seems like, rather than getting different categories of skill points for the three different tech trees, there's now just one set of skill points you can spend as you choose, which I like. You get a little loot box for leveling up, and you recruit people for tasks at the BoO, though it's not clear to me if that process involves you making choices among options or if it's just you find all the people to recruit and add them all and that's it.

I really like the PVE multiplayer in The Division, and it's been good here so far as well. It's always been a game in which I, a shy, anti-social person, feel comfortable grouping up with people and doing stuff without needing to communicate much at all. I'm glad that's continued. I, too, got those "PLAYER needs reinforcements" messages, and eventually noticed there was a button to click to volunteer (R3, maybe?), but I never tried it. I'm not sure what that is.

I love that this game has options for text size and subtitle size. I've found it to be a real problem playing Ubisoft games in particular, when playing them on console on my couch, they have all this text for you to read that is just so damn tiny. I've set all the text size to max and it is mostly much better, although there do seem to be some text pieces that are immune to those size sliders? I hope that's just a thing to be fixed.

I am getting tired of games having HDR options. I don't know how to set these! I have googled it and I still don't really understand it. I kept it to defaults and the game looks good, so, I will hope I'm not missing out on some big improvements by not messing with this more.

Sorry, lots of thoughts. I like this! Also, I still have 2 codes to share. Given that ClockworkHouse got a PS4 code from me when I have Xbox version, I wonder if the code you receive may be dependent on some aspect of the recipient's interfacing with Uplay, whether you might have registered for the public beta on a certain platform, or maybe related to how you login to Uplay, or the first platform you connected to it? PM me if you want a code--if I still have them by this afternoon I will post in the giveaways thread.

Have 2 invites left for the beta on Xbox, let me know by PM if anyone wants a code.
