Post a picture of your pet!

Ah. Beautiful coloring.

My cat would say hi, but he's too busy sleeping.

Day 1 of having a new screen door...

Ha!

That was so nice of you to buy that for your cat.

Cat-detecting water spray bottle attached to that screen door.

Chewie hates when delivery or service people show up at the house. He particularly hates men, especially when they come inside. We usually lock him in a room or leave him outside in nice weather when we are having work done.

Except our plumber. For some reason, Chewie loves him. He follows him around the house wagging at him and even brings him toys. Here he is yesterday watching the plumber do his thing.

Maybe it’s because he’s gotten used to him because we’ve needed so much plumbing work done in this house? Or maybe Chewie is just fascinated with plumbing.

So, we lost our dog Ty back in May due to some tumors found in his spleen. After a few months, we decided it was time to try and get another rescue dog in September, but it ended up not working out. After the attempt failed, we made the decision that we probably would not be getting a replacement unless the stars aligned and we found the perfect dog.

Well, the stars aligned. As of today, we adopted a Labrador mix named Theo:

Seriously the perfect dog. He follows us around begging for pets, is great with our son, and walks on a leash without darting off when distracted. I guess Theo was dropped off at the shelter because he was "humping stuff too much". The dog had not been neutered so clearly was at a greater chance of having that behavior. I was just so surprised to hear the reason he was at the shelter--even after a full day of spending time with him there is nothing that I can see that would justify getting rid of the responsibility. I am always confused by these stories because I wonder how families even came to the conclusion to have a pet in the first place when something so minor becomes a dealbreaker and they give up or abandon the pet.

Ah well though, their loss is our new friend

THOSE EYEBROWS!

Theo looks awesome!

I love him. What a good boy.

He's gorgeous. Congratulations to you, and to him!

Could he just be neutered to solve that problem? I am ignorant about the times when it is ok to do that to dogs.

It's a good idea as a dog reaches middle age. It can reduce the chance of some kinds of cancer. But it can be earlier, if it's needed for behavioral reasons or just to prevent breeding.

[Domano's wife] Yes, the shelter did that when he arrived there. So it's only been about a month since he's been neutered, and we haven't seen him try to hump anything/one. Just one of those things you'd think the family would have tried before giving him up!

Great, I am glad he found your family.

Our Dasher (also a lab mix - basset/lab) was similarly ill-behaved when he came to the rescue, marking everything and such. Taking the coins out of the coin purse immediately eliminated that behavior. He still has a lot of issues due to basic neglect and frankly I am not sure he ever lived indoors but has come a heck of a long way.

Roscoe (on the right) with his girlfriends (Ella, center, and Missy, left) at the apt dog park. That's me on the left. Until last week, Roscoe was afraid to climb up on that pipe, but a new dog was up there and he was desperate to play, so he danced around it and finally got the nerve. Since that he jumps up there constantly.

Two years he was afraid to go up there, now, no fear.

This is a pic of my wife, Teresa, and Crowley on the way home from the dog park. It was a little cold.

She's supposed to be 70-75 lbs. Right now she's only 45 lbs. They grow so fast!

Puppy! So cute!

Trainer: What are your goals?
Me: To pet all the dogs.
Trainer: No, your *fitness* goals?
Me: To be able to run fast enough to pet all the dogs.

I don't know how to hotlink imgur from my phone anymore.

RIP Preston the Buddy https://imgur.com/gallery/aQqraoy

Our handsome boy, Preston, passed away last week. He had a pretty good eleven years, almost to the day. We rescued him from New Jersey and he was a total sweetheart and a wonderful buddy.

Love you sweet boy.

So sorry to hear that Mix. It is tough.

We lost our oldest dog Reggie last Friday. He was 17 years old. He was a good friend and a good boy and we miss him a lot.

We lost both of our cats in the last few months. Now we are pet-less for the first time in our lives and it is a adjustment. I am just used to one of them always being around, little things like I go to the couch and I expect one of them to come over. Or after I put our daughter to bed I come downstairs and still have the urge to check if they have food. It is a strange feeling, I never really realized how many little moment-to-moment thoughts and habits I had with them until they weren't around any longer. The thing I miss most is the companionship.

Damn, Mixolyde and LeapingGnome. My condolences to all. Losing pets is horrible.

Here are my two old boys. Both are 13.

This is Kiba:
