Boston, MA Area GwJr's

Hey everyone, it's been a while since we had a good old S&T. PAX East is still months out, so is there any interest in getting together in late January or early February?

Sounds good! Do we want to try and make it something specific (like a board game S&T), or shall we just keep it to the normal socializing over drinks?

I was thinking that I've never been to Knight Moves in either Brookline or Somerville, so that'd be pretty fun. We could also think about hopping around the Kendall area maybe too? Like grab dinner and drinks somewhere and then move to either A4cade or Flattop Johnnies for games.

All of the above sound good!
A4cade is mostly pinball, though. At least, that's how it feels to me.

I'm in!

Knight Moves opened in Brookline when I was living in the area. I loved that place and miss living around that neck of the woods.

Let's solidify things a bit. How about we hop around Kendall. Would a Friday or Saturday night work better for either of you? Let's say the 25th or 26th? I can do either and I'm flexible for another week if that doesn't work. I'm open to dinner suggestions too if there's anywhere that either of you are itching to get.

Kendall has tons of food and drink options, from Meadhall to something like Black Sheep or Legal Bowl

Meadhall is on my no-go list, thanks to their recent bathroom policing issues.

What happened?

So how about we grab some food and beers at CBC on Saturday evening at 6? That’s before it starts getting crowded according to google. We can play pool or pinball at flattop Johnnies or head down to A4cade after.

Sounds good to me.

Ugh, got a Festivus party this Saturday, so have a few beers without me

I can make that, I think.

If you can, I suggest checking out Adventure Pub in Arlington. Cool place, good food, pays their staff well, should have their liquor license in Feb. (Full disclosure, my girlfriend works there)

Just taking a quick survey: is anyone going to Pax East this year?

I’ll be there on Saturday, if anyone wants to meet for lunch.

I'll be there, but I'll be enforcing.

I'll be there, I think Saturday, so I'd be down for lunch.

I'll be at PAX Friday and Saturday. I'll have my kids with me on Saturday, so my availability all depends on whether they'd be up for it.

Bummer McIrish, I was looking forward to seeing you. We'll just have to plan another thing. I hope you do make it Ed! Adventure Pub looks rad, I'd be down for doing that sometime soon.

Thomas, I'll be at PAX on Thursday with some coworkers at least. I'm thinking about coming Saturday as well but I don't have a ticket yet. I'll absolutely be coming to the Tamo that evening assuming we do the usual get together.

I get passes every day for PAX East, but I don't always go Sundays. I'll be there for the usual though.

Got a full set of PAX East tickets for this year. So Excite!

BAD NEWS

Toby Keith's I love this Bar and Grill (America! F Yeah!) has closed down. Where else are we going to get our Freedom Fries?

(Yes, they were actually called Freedom Fries, and they were bad).

I guess Eleima gets the last laugh?

Toby Keith's Closes Down Unexpectedly

I do believe the market has spoken.

The surprising part to me is not that it closed, but that it was open for as long as it was in this state.

Perhaps the trend is dying but I know a lot of white suburbanite women who, regardless of political belief, just couldn't get enough of putting on cowboy boots and going out to drink.

Not surprising at all, considering the location. There's a lot of overlap between country music fans and NFL fans, and they both overlap with political conservatism. 41.7% of people in Foxborough voted for the GOP candidate in the last presidential election.

Not dying! Countryfest at Foxboro is always a poop-show

Exactly this, and they don't have to be suburbanite - in rural areas it's even worse. I live in the western part of the state, and this exactly describes more than half my relatives.

Hey all, would anyone be interested in buying my Weird Al Yankovic Tour Ticket? I found out I can't make it that day.
