Blizzard's Overwatch Catch-All

As I mentioned earlier this week I found some Lucio-Os. My kids love them. They smell and taste like marshmallow creme. No wonder Lucio's skating around all the time like a coked up rabbit. He's on a constant sugar rush.

To get the loot boxes you need to take a picture of your receipt and upload it to a web site. Just put a code inside the box or better yet a qr code that I can scan with the battle.net app. Atari was doing this back in the 80s for high scores. At least you don't have to mail them in via USPS.

So I, and others, witnessed the best Ult ever last night on Nepal Shrine. We had the point and our pubbie uses Twin Dragons from across the opponent chokepoint. All I see is Ana running away being chased by the dragons.
I couldn't stop laughing.

Yeah, wish you had recorded that! We had some fun matches last night including that wonderful situation with a 5 stack opposing us in which a Widow just ate our lunch and they routed us on Volskya. The pubbie (not the Widow) on the 5 stack went the EZ route and DeThroned diffused it (Yes, really, DeThroned!!! There were witnesses and everything) with humor by complimenting the Widow. When the pubbie asked, only her? DeThroned replied, "I wouldn't know, as I kept getting shot in the face everytime I turned the corner." We were paired with them the next three matches, with very friendly back and forth. We rolled them on our attack faze as well as both Attack and Defense of King's Row. It was fantastic. We communicated well, focused our attacks, and swapped when needed.

I had to stop playing and go to bed, but wish I stuck around for one more game, as I needed only one more win (meaning we won 7 matches last night when I was on).

I tried to be sneaky but only a Hanzo was home, so it wasn't a total loss...

Fun games, guys! Here's that Zarya grav on Oasis for kicks and giggles.

I wish I had my new machine set up for recording before I played tonight. Would have loved to save a video from that same game where the enemy team was chasing me around the point while I stalled for everyone to raspawn.

We shouldn't have had that round. That was a beautiful hold.

What was that? Oasis City center? I just remember being on the edge of my seat, foregoing Zarya for Sombra just to get back there faster.

Yeah I think so, both map were just intense. Great fun.

So I saved up enough Amazon giftcards by cheating my work's fitness rewards program to spend it on something stupid

Finished the first couple of sets last week.

The payload leaving Dorado's first choke point. Lamps and a pinata are hung up to celebrate the end of the omnic-crisis and Soldier 76 rides the payload while Reaper waits in ambush from the archway.

McCree hangs out near the market stalls, Ashe has left her rifle and a little surprise for him in the fruit stand.

Hanamura Castle, home of the Shimada clan of assassins. After Genji was supposedly killed and Hanzo left in shame, the yakuza took over the castle and remaining members of the clan. An uzi wielding yakuza enforcer and a shimada ninja lurk in the background near the weapons racks.

Super cool!

I'm kind of surprised they didn't change the kanji in that last one - that's the same phrase from the Genji backstory video, that someone at Blizzard thought was about dragons but actually just means "disappointing".

Far from stupid, those are dope.

It must be the middle of the round...

Batteries?!?!

The big ones have light-up components if I recall.

D.Va and Reinhardt. At first I didn't realize D.Va was winking so I thought either I got a defective piece or someone poked her in the eye.

I love the details on the stickers. I was originally going to repaint the D.Va mech to be Vancouver Titans colours but I realized the stickers had pink backgrounds making it too hard to paint so I'll keep it the original colours.

D.Va with her bunny blaster pistol and Rein out of his suit. Rein comes with a small Overwatch recruitment medallion. In his animated short you learn that Overwatch sends these medallions out to potential recruits. Originally it was sent to Reinhardt's commanding officer Balderich von Adler but after he was killed saving Reinhardt's life, Rein was given the medallion instead.

Hmm, my birthday is coming up.
I am mildy bothered that the Rein is almost a reskinned Hulkbuster armor.

GG's tonight everyone.

I finally uploaded some highlight videos for your viewing pleasure, and criticism.

Still not sure how I pulled this one off.

I was rather proud of this one as it won us the game after being outmatched.

That was super cool watching one window of ingame footage with another showing the whole view. Now I want a PIP feature in the spectator mode!

Finished Watchpoint Gibraltar and the drone payload.

Damn it Monkey! GETONTHENPOINT!

So those Reaper changes, they sure make him a tank killer again. Says I, who has spent a lot of time today wrecking tanks.

WOw - didn't know Bob would feel Ashe's burn!

It kind of feels like World of Reapercraft since the patch. I'm pretty curious what the pro comps will look like if the OWL season starts with everything as it is now.

I think Reaper is still pretty counterable at higher levels of play by long ranged characters like widow and Hanzo. But he is definitely going to be brutal at the lower tiers.

Reaper is easily countered by long range characters on maps with long sight lines. Other maps mcree, brig, pharah, ana, and dva on any team with any coordination at all can counter him. If they don't have coordination, reaper will destroy entire teams. The only 1v1 he loses up close is to mcree and that relies on mcree hitting flashbang and having more than 4 bullets for his RC. 4 or less, reaper doesn't die and then he kills mcree pretty easily. Reaper is more devastating up close but he still has to get there to be effective. He does almost no damage at range.

He will likely have very little additional play at higher tiers. They are very coordinated and will just kill him instantly. Lower tier teams that lack coordination, have dps players who think it's team death match, and teams unwilling to swap heroes, will complain that reaper is overpowered.

I agree, I don't think Reaper is overpowered after the changes, he's just much better at his role as tank buster. Also he generates a lot of healing with Death Blossom, so much so that killing him when he ults is a lot harder and probably no longer a good way to respond to it.

Finished all of my OW Lego sets... hoping for a Lucio and Zenyatta minifig if they ever do a 2nd wave

Genji has finally found healing

A small shrine dedicated to the fallen members of Overwatch. The Overwatch recruitment medallions of a lost strike team are entombed within and a pilgrim has lit a candle and left a healthpack as an offering to the deceased.
