I was thinking about it, but none of the impressions I've read thus far have been positive.

Same here; it's apparently full of badly realized good ideas and a bit of a buggy mess.

In this week's Conference Call, someone said (sorry, don't remember who) that said it came across like a high school project. Or something to that general effect.

Vane - Easy Allies Review

It sounds pretty bad....

Well, I'm super excited about this. A Dragon Ball game that's not a fighting game! Finally! Let's just hope it's good...

At the same time, Action RPG just seems like a weird choice.

I might give it a go, regardless.

Looking forward to this one. Crossing fingers for it to be good, as well.

Why do you say that?

Because he's weak and will play anything that looks like anime.

… Or did you not mean that part of what he said?

Action RPG makes a lot of sense to me. Or maybe I'm just relieved the combat won't be turn-based. That would be just my luck: they finally make a DBZRPG... and it's turn-based. That is just a personal preference, of course, but it seems to me all the (J)RPGs that look amazing (to me), like Persona 5 or Divinity: Original Sin 2 have turn-based combat, and that is a complete turn-off for me. Why? WHY? (Again, it's just a personal preference .)

haha I definitely meant choice of genre.. action rpg makes a lot of sense to me too, but then, so does turn based rpg because.. every turn in DBZ shows seems pretty infinite anyway rofl.

So true!

At least it's not real-time with pause. That's the literal worst.

I'm pretty sure in all my time being a member here, you've actually played more anime games than I have.

I have yet to even touch a Neptunia!

But as for Action RPG... I mean, if I take a step back it can easily be a regular ol' action game with RPG elements. I mean, I guess it makes sense given the nature of Power Levels and etc. Just, the first thing that comes to my mind with a DBZ game is a plain ol' action game. Making it an RPG seems weird, but in this day and age "RPG" just means "designer-controlled progression" so...

That is very true. I wouldn't be surprised if it's an action game with "RPG elements" like said progression. But maybe, since it's a Japanese game, it will have more hardcore RPG systems. I've never played anything by the developer (CyberConnect2), so I'm not sure what to expect.

Did someone mention Neptunia?

Huh? What are we talking about?

Hrm. Well I’m a little disappointed that the DBZ RPG seems to just be yet another rehash if the manag/anime story. A story we have already been told countless times before. I think I’d be much more interested in it if it offered an original story.

I would also prefer something new, but I'll "settle" for this. I would also prefer an adaptation of the original Dragon Ball series when Goku was younger, as that would make for a more whimsical game and story line... but I'll "settle" for this .

I have to agree with you there. OG Dragon Ball with little Goku has always been better, IMO, than anything that came after it exactly for the reason you state. Also, I would love having Yajirobe as a party/assist character, now that I think about it, and his role in the original DB was bigger - IIRC - than in Z.

I'm confused: this has all the same characters as the last couple Dragon Quest games, so is this a spin-off? Did they do a sequel to 11 already? Why does it have a different name?

So, my wife surprised me with a PS4. I'm excited, particularly since I haven't owned a Sony console since the PS2, and haven't played any Sony exclusives since then. I'm looking for some suggestions to start building my game library.

Persona 5, Spider-Man, Until Dawn (not the VR one, though)

Yajirobe as a party character would both be awesome and hilarious!

Edit: I'm going to pretend that I didn't totally forget to link to my own damn FAQ. Thanks, Farley.

Edit: I would suggest starting with The New Console Buyer FAQ and Catch-All. The list of recommendations there is a great start.
I should probably refresh the page before posting 15 minutes after opening.

Some other recommendations off the top of my head would be Ratchet and Clank, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, and Journey.

The Sony Gold Headphones are a must.

First Light is super good. The colors pop so amazingly. I am a fan of the InFamous series. I found the protagonist to be sorta annoying, but not annoying enough to prevent me from playing. If memory serves it was one of the first PS4 games to be released. Its sort of amazing that they hit it out of the park so well from the beginning.
